It'll have to shift around 90k, possible? I don't think so but I'd love to be proven wrong

I think the days of charity singles are over. Maybe #1 on iTunes but wouldn't be surprised if it missed the top 10 altogether. There are better ways to support the victims than buying this

That's a random choice of song there. Did he have a spare backing track lying around?

Why doesn't Cowell and the artists involved donate some of their obscene wealth instead of going through this pathetic ego stroking exercise?

This.

It just seems so attention seeking to rush out and make a statement "re-assuring" the public that there'll be a charity single (yay!) with all our favourite singers on it with the funds (aka a percentage) going to the cause. Simon could have donated privately and moved on, but he just HAS to get the spotlight on his artists and make sure his voice is heard. Just makes me very uneasy. The whole thing screams "let's create some nice PR for Simon's artists and give them an easy hit and airplay".

Shame.

Well, he's been doing it this way for the past decade, why stop now? sleep.gif

Good cause and all, but God I HATE these charity ensemble covers for so many reasons. I do wonder if these are still all-dominating in this day and age, but I imagine it probably will as the coverage increases.

Could've picked a song that wasn't done by another charity ensemble recently as well~

It's a charity single so obviously I don't want it to flop but this just seems like such a lame, no effort attempt. I don't know, I feel like the victims deserve to be honored in a better way than a single Simon Cowell threw together in 3 seconds and will probably sound cheap af.

Anyway, I think people will see right through it and the single won't perform well at all but I hope it makes enough $$$ and I hope all those acts also actually donate some of their money.

I suspect it will be under a collective name for the Artists that reflect the tragedy.

Not sure how it'll sound with some of those involved. laugh.gif Leona's in London and been in the studio recently, so she might get tagged on as well.

Not sure on how well it'll do - wouldn't be surprised if it failed to get to #1. Especially as it'll likely not do well on streaming (unless spotify immediately add it to a bunch of playlists on release).

Charity singles like Children in Need / Comic Relief, maybe. But I reckon this one will be different because the cause is very specific to right now and the support already has been huge. I think it could perform similarly to "One Last Time", the fact it probably won't interest people as a song outside of these tragic events being balanced out by this one not having multiple versions / sales split across multiple weeks in the way Ariana was. thinking.gif

I would assume that most of these artists and Simon himself will be donating money to go along with the money raised. The charity single is just an easy way for the average UK citizen to donate, the ones who normally wouldn't go out of their way to find out where to donate, but will go on itunes and buy a song.

Agree with supporting the good cause but the choice of song is too easy and Predictable, Simon may have forgotten that 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' was used on The NHS Choir Christmas number 1 in 2015 ('A Bridge Over You'). Appreciate time is of the essence but surely they could have used another song.

Surely Cowell and the multi million stars could just donate a million each (small time for him at least) and would probably be a heck of a lot more than the money generated from a charity single

EDIT - Just seen others making the same point up thread (glad its not just me thinking this)

At least if it was that it wouldn't be a song that was a charity single only 18 months ago

Nice idea but Simon charity singles are getting old maybe a charity album

It will have 3 days of sales to make up and probably 4 streaming
