Ari just confirmed on twitter this is the next single!
I can see this dropping today or next Friday 😍
I wonder if she means on your fingers, or on the phone?
Lol
Ohhh hype
Out next Friday.
Oh that's soon! The artwork is very... questionable but judging from her post https://www.instagram.com/p/BsWK4bGA_Z2/, she's already filmed the video
Is the album having a Japanese theme?
The artwork for imagine also had Japanese writing.
Coincidence possibly?
Excited to hear this though. Possibly the next UK #1 single?
^ The artwork for '7 Rings' isn't Japanese writing, it's graffiti?
There seems to be two Parental Advisory stickers, one of them is Japanese.
Oh lmao I missed that, sorry!
She's one of the biggest western artists in Japan so she's probably just trying to be a bit more inclusive
Is it just her being oddly inclusive or could it possibly have Japanese lyrics in it? Maybe a big Japanese artist? Idk maybe it’s just her new style
hype
wish rihanna would have this release strategy
Apparently the music at the very start of the thank u, next music video is actually the instrumental to 7 rings.
Can't wait to hear it
Video preview with audio, confirming what Jordan posted about the clip from Thank U, Next:

Hyped for this! Interesting that she's gone back to the pre-TUN release strategy for this (and to a lesser extent, Imagine) when it worked so well for that
hannah lux again im guessing from that preview...
tbh i want dave meyers back asap tho to give us another NTLTC/GIAW moment!
There's a 15 second LQ snippet circulating, sounds catchy af, very R&B too.
Omg it samples My Favourite Things from Sound Of Music!!
It's... interesting. I definitely like it, it's like a more put together version of 7/11 by Beyonce to me a bit. The Julie Andrews melody works bizarrely well too
I WANT IT. I GOT IT. I WANT IT. I GOT IT.
I’m gonna have that stuck in my head when I go to sleep, thanks Ari
This is so infectious. Loving it on first listen.
WOW. I can see this being HUGE.
Couldn’t love this more. So infectious.
Omg I prefer this to thank u next.
It’s going to be massive omg
Fantastic!!!!! What an inspired use of the sample *.*
"You like. My hair. Gee, thanks. Just bought it."
This is such a catchy song! I was hooked by my first listen and I say that as someone who took time getting into 'thank u, next'. The sample doesn't really feel jarring despite being so recognisable. Pretty sure someone else sampled 'My Favourite Things' and failed to pull it off and the less said about JLS' 'The Club is Alive'... (although it is a bop).
This is amazing but it's far too short?! It kinda just ended abruptly. Would be amazing for it to be another #1 for her but we'll see, Sweet But Psycho is still doing good numbers
like it!! the video is gorgeous
I'm in two minds as to how I feel. It's infectious and catchy, but it's not really my thing and I doubt I'd be giving it the time of day beyond the first listen if it was pretty much anyone else..
The video is fantastic though! The visuals and aesthetics are orgasmic!
And ofc if it gets #1 it's gonna piss me off even more that NTLTC and GIAW didn't do it
On the subject of Sound of Music samples, who remembers this BOP:
Oh WOW what a bop yesssss Ari !
It reminds me of Scream by Kelis
I really love it though. On first two listens I like it more than I did thank u, next at the time of premiere.
Love the video too. It really makes a difference for me a song and video are released together.
I can easily see this being the next UK #1 and I can easily see it being her second US #1 too
This keeps growing like a rash, what a banger*.*
This dropping on payday while I pretend to be bougie for a day is perfect timing tbh
I'm sitting in the airport terminal after work trying my best not to just start playing it out loud and breaking into dance. WHAMBOP!!
The perfect song to pop ur puss to, yassss ari
I like this waaaay more than 'Thank U, Next' (although I have slightly came around to that recently).
I like it but I dont love it. So far the first 3 singles from the album were better than TUN and 7R
I actually prefer the Big Brovaz version so far
the original demo xxxx
This is so good, also love the video
Fab. Soooo much better than the dull Thank U Next
This is the weakest of the 3 we've heard from the album so far for me.
Although it's still like a 10/10 though. I don't think she's capable of releasing a song I don't instantly love any more.
This is a triumph! The song is so catchy and the video is perfect for it. The third verse *.*
Don’t get the hate for this from some people. It’s pop perfection? Absolutely incredible, it’s everything I want from her.
Yeah this seems to be being torn apart in most places which is a bit over the top. My thoughts:
The sound of music sample is so done and cheesy, but the rest of the song bops. It’s a bit cringy white girl wasted, but I’m still enjoying it. It’s not as deep and intricate as Thank U Next, but not every song has to me! I reckon it’ll go down really well in a club!
Some of the reactions are ridiculous, of course not everyone has to like it and there's no way they will but I think a lot of people either will just hate everything she does anyway because they only listen to Reel muzik like The 1975, or they won't accept anything less than another Into You. I can see why people don't like it, but I haven't seen much substance as to why people don't, it just feels like the same groups hate on her because she's popular and isn't releasing exactly what they want
She's only gone and gone and broken her own Spotify debut record in the US WHAT A QUEEN! Drake who????
12,214,337 streams in less than 24 hours!
Ari has to be careful, Princess Nokia in on her case as she is saying Ariana has copied and appropriated a song of hers called "Mine". They do sound similar from the clips I've heard, but not too much as it's "only" the structure of the verse that's really similar..
At least she's on it straight away and not waited something ridiculous like 4 years x
12m!!! It won’t be that officially though due to time zones, but it should be 8-9m!
Yep, debuts with 8.5m globally!
Really love this. Much more instant than 'Thank U, Next' which I still don't think deserved all of that success. She is smashing it with her single releases.
I like it but it feels much more superficial / shallow than most of her output prior to this and I find it hard to connect with, I always have with songs when they just talk about how much money they have. I still enjoy it though and I think some people's reactions are a bit over the top.
Listened to this 5 times in a row this morning.
It’s a definite BOP. I can see why it’s smashing.
It’s obviously not meant to be taken seriously and it’s a great song for what it is, I can’t wait to hear this in a club.
It’s also very Spotify friendly too I knew it would smash on Spotify as soon as I heard it.
In regards to time length, I think it should be longer but in terms of the outro rather than the lyrical content. There's three verses which is absolutely sufficient, it's just a shame it just ends when she stops singing when there's room for a 30 second outro.
Debuts at 33 on US POP RADIO
(Also, thank u, next just went #1 there today!)
What an absolute jam. I think I prefer this to thank u, next as well!
It's very good. I definitely prefer this to 'thank u next', which I found a bit boring tbh.
ISSA BOP.
Easily the best from this era so far <3 I was a bit worried that the sample would come across tacky but it actually works fine (although the verses > - definitely getting a Beyoncé vibe from it in the best possible way)
11/10 - 7 rings
10/10 - thank u, next
8/10 - imagine
8/10 - thank u, next
7/10 - 7 rings
6/10 - imagine
For me.
I'm enjoying them, but I don't really care for them much. Well, 7R is growing on me, but we'll see.
Thought it was rather tacky but it's grown on me on second listen. I'd prefer it if they didn't base it so heavily around the Favourite Things sample but it's a bit of a bop.
This is easily my 3rd favourite Ariana song now, behind One Last Time and No Tears Left To Cry
I actually like the sample and the chorus. Not a big fan of the verses which are monotonous and repetitive. Prefer it to thank u next on balance, however.
Day 3 still smashing!
I think as well, if you take the track as the satire pop that it is, then it's far more enjoyable, if you take it seriously and see it as cocky, it's fun as well, it's a little too brash. There have been a few instances where satire pop has been taken far too seriously by the majority and completely backfired on an artist. "Hard Out Here" by Lily Allen springs to mind.
I’m at 207 plays already, half of NTLTC and more than double TUN
Been listening to this a far bit I don't think I love it as much as No Tears Left To Cry or Thank U, Next etc but I do like it.
LOVE 7 rings!
Ariana is truly killing it right now.
Very comfortably midweek #1 in UK
4th #1 incoming.
On sales only won’t this be her 6th as well!! I’m sure one last time and no tears were sales #1 but officially #2.
She’s easily gonna overtake most pop females and be up there with Madonna Rihanna and Spice Girls for female
#1s I think possibly even within the next few years.
Why am I hating this?!
I've loved every single one of her singles since Problem (even 'Everyday'!) and this is just.... nothing? It kind of feels very shallow and hollow, the majority of her other singles seemed to have a bit of depth to them. This just feels like female Drake, it's okay and it's perfectly fine and I'm so happy she's getting crazy success but I can't help but feeling underwhelmed.
I'm preferring this to TUN which I never *got* and thought it's success was a little excessive especially when Tears didn't reach #1. I also loved the video too.. her videos for this year have been really strong and consistent. Not against this doing well by any means.
Officially her 4th UK #1 now
So pleased for her getting another #1
This is the fastest song to reach 100m streams on Spotify!
I'm still utterly obsessed with this and i think this radical image change for Ariana is GENIUS.
I am having trouble believing that she is that shallow to finally decide to release a song about how much money she has so I have no problem with the in-your-face boastful arrogant lyrics~
everything just works!
Her second #1 in the US now as well.
Crazy to think she’d never had one and now she’s had two in such a short space of time.
Also one of very few artists to have two tracks enter at #1 on the Billboard charts as well.
Amazing song. Up to par with 'no tears left to cry' and 'God is a woman'.
Pretty incredible that she's only the third female artist in Billboard history to have multiple songs debut at #1 and the first since Britney 8(!) years ago. Her power! This is growing to be one of my favourite songs of hers, really hyped for the album
So let's talk about that nyle demarco video *.*
i'm liking the songs but they don't come close to the sweetener songs for me
2 Chainz remix coming tomorrow (?!) Ugh
A guest verse is what this NEEDS tbh, the only thing holding me back from loving this as much as/more than the last few singles is that third verse where she unnecessarily goes squeaky. The rest of the song is 10/10 but that brief section is sooooo off putting
2 Chainz is an odd choice though, not an artist I’d peg working with Ariana tho Louisa managed to get a throwaway rap verse on YES so I guess he just likes getting paid I would’ve preferred a female guest remix tho to fit more with the song
Oh God it’s a really awful verse :/ Suppose it at least some what fits but he doesn’t sound great at all
Doubt it will but I really hope this version doesn’t become more popular than the original
Ok well they cut the good verse and left the bad one in so that was a pointless remix
Taking out the 2nd verse means the song has no real reference to the title as well now
I guess the remix was only released to keep it at #1 in the US until the album drops.
Silver certified in the UK after its second week at #1!
Not gonna bother searching out the remix based on your reviews lol
Its so funny what hype can do for an artist. Lets not pretend this song is anywhere near a great song & will be remembered among her actually good songs.
Then again i am a bitter 2013 went-to-the-intimate-london show she did in 2013 when most disliked her cause she couldnt annunicate.
Want it, got it
Want it, got it
Want it, got it
Want it, got it
Like hair? Thanks, bought it
I'm bopping x
Omg!!!
Apparently she wanted to perform this at The Grammys and she wasn’t able too so she scrapped performing there full stop.
^ I'm still going back to it days later !
Impressive that 7 Rings achieved a silver certification in the UK in just 2 weeks. I wonder how long it'll manage to stay at #1 here?
Omg. Thats actually so good lmfao!!
wrist? watchin.
neck? flossin.
big? posits.
gloss? poppin.
thank u? next.
hotel? Trivago.
So obsessed with this at the moment. The interpolation, quotable lyrics, ethnic tinge to the production in places... super infectious
Billboard #1 for a fourth consecutive week, making Ari the first female to hold #1 on both main charts since Camila Cabello almost exactly a year ago!
She becomes the first ever artist to replace herself at UK #1 for 2 consecutive weeks!
Yet another week at #1 in the US!
Song is mood as f***
Officially #1 on US Pop Radio, her second of the TUN era and I think fourth in the last 12 months?
I’d say that Ariana is eaassily the biggest artist in the world right now.
The first to have 4 radio #1 smashes in less than 8 months since Michael Jackson I think i read!
unstoppable
Returns to #1 for a sixth week in the US! Incredible longevity for this and Thank U, Next!
Chartwise, I would say Rihanna between 2010-2012, and GaGa in 2009 in that year alone regarding female artists.
7th week at #1 for 7 rings
As amazing as the success she’s had is I wish I could swap the chart runs and positions from sweetener and thank u next singles wise.
7 rings is a bop though.
Officially Platinum *.*
Blimey she can't do anything wrong at the moment can she?
https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/a...-so-far__26744/
US mid-year chart stats are out, here is how well '7 rings' is doing:
2019’s Mid-Year Top 10 Selling Digital Songs
#4 Ariana Grande - 7 rings (420,000)
2019’s Mid-Year Top 10 On-Demand Song Streams (Audio & Video)
#3 Ariana Grande - 7 rings (776,696,000)
Wow!! Actually quite surprised she's not had a longer runner than that
Smash!
This is nominated for 'Record of the Year' and 'Best Pop Solo Performance' at the Grammy Awards!
I really thought that thank u, next would’ve been her single to get nominations but happy non the less!
Last year I was certain it would’ve been no tears too and it was God is a woman
I think it was August 31 for the 2020 ones. Earlier than usual
Ahh okay, thank you, I had no idea! In that case I'm surprised about '7 rings' being chosen over 'thank u, next' too. Her only AMA nomination that revolves around a song (albeit for the visuals) is '7 rings' as well. I guess 'thank u, next' is the one smashing on the EOY lists instead - so both of them getting the chance to shine in different ways!
Omg but it’s at 999.3m!!
(Her best song did that!)
I was just saying earlier that I love it just as much as when it came out! Sooo good and defo my fave Ari song!
I can't believe it's been a year already.
The song's held up super well for me too.
Literally just thinking about how 2019 was the quickest year of my life.
...and now it's been 2 years! Happy birthday to this smash *.*
Well it's better than me at karaoke that's for sure.
Cute how it pronounces 'favourite things' so well!
The Kelly and Ari content has been non-stop this week!
I am LOVING all this content, I can't believe how hard Kelly just slayed '7 rings'.
This is currently climbing up Apple... New Year's Eve effect?
I can’t believe it’s been 3 years already
What a time that was to be an Ariana fan!
Four years since Ariana released her biggest hit.
Today marks 5 years since this was released happy birthday, '7 rings'! What a smash it was.
This still feels really recent to me! Doesn’t at all feel like five years since this!
I’ve always liked it for what it is. It doesn’t necessarily have a huge vocal moment what I tend to love from her but it’s joyous, fun, not necessarily to be taken seriously and I think a song like this probably really helped at her at the time of release when she was experiencing what she was experiencing.
I probably prefer a chunk of the album tracks of the thank u, next era to the singles though but can definitely also see why she chose those tracks to be the singles (and they all become UK #1s so she chose well).
