I think it was a solid episode, definitely wasn't bad but it's not something I'll mark as my favourite. I liked the concept and the two main guest star characters were fleshed out enough but I think the planet was maybe too desolate to actually have that threat element there. I think everyone will have forgotten the robots by tomorrow, they seemed to be a hurried last minute addition to actually have an enemy there. It might have been better to make more use out of those sheet things - as the strangling of Epzo was quite a memorable part! They could have easily been hidden in the sand and stuff too to create more of a threat. I really really do hope we get a strong monster threat soon, probably not appropriate for next week's episode but maybe the spiders of Ep 4 will bring it.

The cinematography looked stunning. It really did feel like a proper alien world.

I'm liking the characters together but I don't think they're quite there yet... We're only two episodes in though so definitely a lot of room to grow. Obviously a lot of focus is still on the Doctor, which is what it should be for now as she's completely new but I guess it does make it problematic when you have three companions. I don't feel any of the companions have had that moment yet where they've helped the situation in a substantial way - only Grace did and she died :') They've just been following the Doctor around, so hopefully they'll get their chance to shine soon and earn that companion status. There was so much focus (rightly) on the Doctor being reunited with the TARDIS and experiencing that interior change together with the Doctor that I didn't even take in the companion's reactions oops

The title sequence looked GLORIOUS. A real throwback to Classic Who but most certainly the most modern version of it! I will miss the pre-titles though as they end up making the titles more of an event. I mean, I normally skip the titles of TV shows but it just feels so integral to Doctor Who.

The new TARDIS interior I'm a bit more uncertain over. I think I'd love it a lot more without those massive overgrowing things, or if they were higher and further away from the console - like in 9 and 10s TARDIS. The console and walls look really great though - and a biscuit dispenser, a dream *.*

It definitely does feel like a bigger difference/departure from the previous era than Moffat did from RTD. Looking back now, Moffat stuck a lot closer to RTD's era than everyone probably thought at the time.

If anyone noticed the opening credits it was missing something, I should imagine the Tardis will be featured in next week's opening credits.

I don't think so, everyone knows what the outside of the TARDIS looks like, they don't need to hide it! And just because nu-Who has followed the TARDIS in the titles, it doesn't mean this one will. As I mentioned above, it was very much a modern take on the classic Who titles!

Charles Dickens

Queen Victoria
William Shakespeare
Agatha Christie

Winston Churchill
Vincent van Gogh
Richard Nixon
Adolf Hitler

Robin Hood

Interesting that Capaldi only had one 'historical guest' appear in his entire era, and it's Robin Hood of all people tongue.gif Excited to see Rosa Parks featuring next week with what I hope marks the return of a historical guest per series like what we had with Eccleston through to Smith.

Queen Victoria & Agatha Christie are arguably two of my favourite guest characters in the entire show tbh so hopefully next weeks guest will live up to the previous female guests tongue.gif

I wasn't a big fan of the opening credits. They felt too short and the graphics seemed a bit messy to me, the theme itself sounds great but I wasn't overly keen :/ It's definitely more mature than Capaldi's but about as memorable as Smith's kink.gif

7.1m in the overnights so a drop of just over a million.

I was thinking 6.5m in my head, so I’m really pleased with that. The first episode will have a lot of curiosity views so to hold up with one of the best ratings for the show in YEARS is really positive news. Praying it continues, would love to see it keep around 7m again!
