BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Anywhere | 2nd Single

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 1st September 2017, 11:01 AM

So after her first single, ''Your Song'' her next single is being lined up already. It was meant to be Girls but now that's being scrapped until January according to reports and Anywhere has come in it's place and she has shot the video for it.

So Rita confirmed that Girls is next single following 'Your Song' which was co-written by Ed Sheeran (Backing vocals as well) and Lonely Together with Avicii. The track was written by Rita Ora, Andrew Watt, Ali Tamposi, Brian Lee and Jonathan Coffer. The video may by directed by Charli XCX.

Rita to slay the charts until the end of the year!!!!

Cool video) Thanks for sharing!

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 5th September 2017, 07:18 PM

Didn't she say its about girl power?

Posted by: ⓐⓦⓐⓡ^ 3rd October 2017, 04:35 PM

Is this single still going ahead?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 3rd October 2017, 04:43 PM

I think there'll be a remix of 'Your Song' feat. French Montana in the next week or two, and then they'll re-promote the original song again in March.

Posted by: LewisTScream 3rd October 2017, 05:20 PM

Well, she's STILL in the US promoting Your Song so who knows what's happening next tbh.

Posted by: The Burbadook 3rd October 2017, 09:53 PM

Rita is hosting and performing at the EMAs this year, so I reckon we'll have this out by then! Possibly even the album too...

Posted by: Steve201 3rd October 2017, 10:01 PM

Will debut a lot higher after the success of Your Song!

How high? Your Song debuted at 13 which was very high.

Posted by: Jonjo 5th October 2017, 01:27 PM

I assume that, if this is the next single, she's gonna perform it at the EMA's because she said on TRL that she is gonna be performing something brand new! I like YS, but I'm really bored of her promoting it! laugh.gif

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 5th October 2017, 04:45 PM

It doesn't feature either RAYE or MØ and it's now coming out in January according to an ATRL forum member who met her.

QUOTE
I just met Rita Ora at TRL and during a commercial break I asked about Girls; she said it's coming out the "top of January" and features Charli XCX but neither MØ nor Raye, as previously performed/rumored. She did say that it is featuring someone else who hasn't been announced, but she did not say who. I don't have a source other than the fact that Rita herself literally just told me this.

https://atrl.net/forums/topic/78106-rita-ora-girls-coming-in-january-not-feat-m%C3%B8-or-raye/

Posted by: LewisTScream 5th October 2017, 05:42 PM

Really not taking the word of an ATRL forum member who 'met' her as gospel. EVER. laugh.gif

But drama.gif if it is delayed until the new year.

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 6th October 2017, 03:35 PM

Looks like this has been scrapped as a single and replaced by ''Anywhere'' which is coming this month.

Posted by: THEO. 6th October 2017, 03:43 PM

Is that because she literally performed "Your Song" anywhere? basil.gif

(Still) looking forward to this, also hoping for a higher debut this time but it's unlikely with "Lonely Forever" currently in the top 10.

Posted by: Cremey 6th October 2017, 03:50 PM

NOOO 😭😭😭 Need ‘Girls’ now.
So hyped for new music though, especially if it’s that soon.

Posted by: jessie j 6th October 2017, 04:45 PM

so the person on ATRL was talking absolute shit, then? (as expected from ATRL)

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 6th October 2017, 04:57 PM

Will be debuted at EMAs!

Posted by: Jonjo 6th October 2017, 05:18 PM

Looking forward to hearing this, but I was kinda hyped for 'Girls'. How the f*** has she gone from getting her campaigns spot on, to being such a mess!? I just don't understand.

Still excited though wub.gif

Posted by: THEO. 9th October 2017, 12:29 PM

Single dropping on 20th October, video same day! biggrin.gif Not long to wait now!

Posted by: THEO. 12th October 2017, 12:16 PM

So MTV have said that "Anywhere" will have its first performance at the EMAs but it comes out on the 20th October and over that weekend she has three high-profile performances (The Jonathan Ross Show on the 21st and Radio 1 Teen Awards/ITV's Your Song on the 22nd). I'm guessing they were wrong about the EMAs being an exclusive because I don't see why she'd perform anything else on Jonathan Ross. Maybe it'll be "Lonely Together" (hopefully not) but I don't think she'll perform something new at the Teen Awards. I guess Your Song will be an older song (probably her song basil.gif) given that it's a performance for a specific person.

Posted by: RobBob 12th October 2017, 12:22 PM

When were her campaigns spot on? Literally, only the first album - the rest has been pretty messy (partly due to reasons beyond her control, in fairness!). I wish they weren't, I think she'd be even bigger than she already is if she was handled better.

Posted by: Liаm 12th October 2017, 12:25 PM

Lmao knowing Rita she'll sing Your Song at all 3 :')

Posted by: THEO. 13th October 2017, 01:49 PM

Keeping up the terrible artwork/font theme...

Posted by: Cremey 13th October 2017, 02:18 PM

I actually love the artwork this era!
This one's not as strong as the 'Your Song' one but I still like it a lot.

Posted by: Spun's Labyrinth 13th October 2017, 02:41 PM

I love the pose but not the font

Posted by: HissingSparkler 13th October 2017, 02:55 PM

'Your Song' was boring and generic tropical pop imo, I hope this one is better. What happened to the Marshmello collab that was supposed to be coming?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 14th October 2017, 12:03 AM

I always thought of 'Your Song' as being more like a pop Clean Bandit rather than being tropical per se.

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 14th October 2017, 07:48 PM

Produced by Nolan Lambroza and Alesso.

Tomorrow Video/audio preview on her https://www.instagram.com/p/BabQQn5nk63/.

OCC have posted a review of the song:

QUOTE
Rita Ora just wants to get away from it all on her new single Anywhere: First listen review

The singer is seeing off a successful 2017 on a high with her latest single.

As we approach the end of 2017, it’s only natural to start looking back and the musical triumphs and traumas of the year – and Rita Ora falls firmly in the former camp.

She hasn’t yet managed to get that elusive second album out (her debut was released five years and two weeks ago, but who’s counting?), but her bounce back after being caught up in label drama for over two years (eventually signing to Atlantic Records) has been remarkably strong.

Recent single Your Song is currently one of the UK's 40 biggest songs of the year, while her collaboration with Avicii, Lonely Together, is heading for a Top 3 placing on this week’s Official Singles Chart. While it looks like the album won’t materialise until 2018, Rita is seeing the year off on a high with her new single Anywhere, which is out tomorrow (Oct 20).

The song is co-written by Rita and Andrew Wyatt, whose recent credits include Camila Cabello's Havana, DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You and Kygo and Selena Gomez’s It Ain’t Me. Anywhere has most in common with the latter of those songs, sharing the same dreamy production and wistful vibe - though it’s less tropical house and more a straightforward dance-pop song. Like Rita knows how.

“Over the hills and far away, a million miles from L.A, just anywhere away with you,” she sings on the first of two choruses, the second a breakdown of jittery vocal loops that initially sound jarring sat next to each other, but gradually pull together and build towards glorious finish.

Discussing the song, which is essentially about bunking off work to go on a jolly with your mates, Rita said: “I was in a routine, working every day, and found myself day dreaming about breaking out of the city and going on a road trip with my friends and never looking back.” We hear you, Rita.

Anywhere is released on Friday, October 20.

Also she filmed her Jonathan Ross performance yesterday and she IS performing "Anywhere"! Great that she's starting on the promo for it immediately, top 10 debut please!

Posted by: Jonjo 19th October 2017, 11:02 AM

SO READY FOR THIS! That preview is exciting and the review is awesome too! Hope she gets another big hit out of this!

Posted by: Ryan. 19th October 2017, 11:22 AM

It isn’t as instant as Your Song, it feels very similar in production and structure to Hailee’s latest track in places right down to the “chanting” effect in the chorus. Although the breakdown is more It Ain’t Me than it is Let Me Go which is a good thing as the breakdown is the weakest part of Hailee’s track.

At this stage I’m not feeling it to be a hit to the size of Your Song or Lonely Together but her name will see it into the top 10 I imagine.

Thanks!

I'm not enjoying this that much on first listen, it's pretty bland. I loved Your Song tho so maybe it'll grow.

Posted by: Jonjo 19th October 2017, 12:41 PM

Love this! It feels very familiar and it felt like I knew the words by the 2nd chorus. I get huge 'Lonely Together' vibes from this tbh. I should hope it will do well! Hopefully she has an XF performance lined up!

Such a euphoric hit and VOCALS <3 It's basically Lonely Together but with real vocals *.*

I think it does...

Liking this on the first listen! I can't believe how much better she is now than she used to be.

Posted by: jessie j 19th October 2017, 07:38 PM

It's nowhere as near as good as Lonely Together. Hope it grows, but it's not doing much for me at the moment.

Sounds like a decent sized hit though, very suited to the winter months and tailored for an X Factor performance.

A billion times better than the f***ing vile 'Your Song'

It's definitely quite smiliar to 'It Ain't Me'

I like this but I don’t love it like I’ve loved all her singles from ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ onwards 😭
I’m sure it’ll grow and I’ll end up adoring it but right now it’s not a patch on ‘Your Song’!

Posted by: The Cownjuring 20th October 2017, 09:22 AM

Posted by: Lenny 20th October 2017, 09:24 AM

Average at best, definitely preferred "Your Song".

Nothing compared to "I Will Never Let You Down", which feels like 10 years ago now even though it was just 3 and a half years ago sad.gif

Posted by: THEO. 20th October 2017, 11:14 AM

This is such an earworm! Loving it so much now! It's a lot more laid back than "Your Song" and "Lonely Together", pretty much perfect for this time of year. I think I prefer the latter at the moment but it's definitely better than the former for me currently.

The chorus line is sampled from some 17th century poem or something?! 'Over the hills and far away' - ha Rita at sampling something so old that she doesn't have to pay royalties for it :')

Posted by: Simon. 20th October 2017, 04:46 PM

This is SO good, I haven't turned it off today! Can't stand the basic woman herself but this is easily her best song for me by far!

Posted by: Liаm 20th October 2017, 04:50 PM

I think I still prefer Lonley Together but this is growing a lot!

Posted by: Klumpkin 20th October 2017, 08:54 PM

I love how melodic the chorus is! My first thought was that this sounds like a BJSC hit laugh.gif Quite an interesting sound from a very mainstream artist! I think I'm preferring this to both Your Song and Lonely Together - although I'm not sure if it'll be as commercially successful as those two are?

Posted by: cqmerqn 20th October 2017, 09:36 PM

Rita is everywhere right now laugh.gif

Hope this is her third top 10 of the year!

SO much better than Your Song, and even that was good.

Yeah I agree with these statements. Love the chorus. 'Your Song' was not that bad but very... standard (but I think it was written by Ed Sheeran so there you go).

Posted by: THEO. 22nd October 2017, 05:18 PM

She absolutely slayed her greatest hits medley ("Your Song"/"Lonely Together"/"Anywhere") at the Teen Awards *.* I have to see this woman live, if only she'd put the album out so she could tour something.

Posted by: Jo...shh! It's coming 22nd October 2017, 05:23 PM

Like Theo says, I absolutely HAVE to see her live next time she tours. She's such a star and always sounds brilliant in live recordings!

At first, I wasn't that keen on this and it took a fair few listens to even remember how it goes but it has grown massively in the last couple of days. I still think Your Song was a bit more instant but I hope this can be another big smash for her wub.gif

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 22nd October 2017, 06:18 PM

Posted by: liamk97 23rd October 2017, 12:09 PM

I thought the performance was a bit poor tbh. Vocally she was great, but the choreography was flat and wtf was she wearing? Those things are out of her control so not a criticism of her, but it spoiled my enjoyment of the performance.

'Anywhere' is pretty catchy and I can see myself really digging it very soon.

I've loved both of her recent singles, which is quite something considering how much I detested her in 2012 (although I did also really like 'I Will Never Let You Down' and 'Body on Me' as well).

Posted by: Nick Jonas 26th October 2017, 09:05 PM

This is probably my favourite song of 2017.

Quite easily my favourite song of Rita's to date. I've only ever really loved Radioactive before now. Such a breezy and effortless but instant track with a timeless melody.

I feel like I slagged this somewhere on the forums but it's grown on me, awks. Quite good from Rita, thumbs up.

When I first heard it in the car I didn't think much of this but after listening several more times during the week, it's turned out to be an infectious grower. The chorus I can't get out of my head. Reminds me of some other song melody wise which I can't quite put my finger on thinking.gif

Posted by: leewallace 29th October 2017, 09:46 PM

She needs to get this album up for pre-order!

Posted by: THEO. 29th October 2017, 09:51 PM

Eek, so excited to see her perform this on the X Factor! I don't think it'll quite get to #1 as much as I love it but outpeaking "Your Song" is almost definite. Also if it goes top five, Rita will match Leona Lewis's record for most top five singles by a British female solo artist! 😍

Posted by: jessie j 29th October 2017, 09:55 PM

Okay, realistically, if she gets moved up on Hot Hits this week she can climb into the top 20 on Spotify by the time the next chart week comes around, and she'll hopefully be able to reach #1 on iTunes on the back of her X Factor performance... so I think a top 3 placing a week on Friday is well within the realms of possibility cheer.gif

Surprised she's going for academy dates tbh. I feel like she could go bigger.

Posted by: THEO. 30th October 2017, 07:02 PM

Omg YES at both of those updates! I have to get tickets to the Leeds show but I agree that she should be playing bigger venues.

Posted by: The Burbadook 30th October 2017, 09:14 PM

I think they've underestimated her size of venues because she's been away so long. Definitely should've gone for some small arenas instead!

Posted by: Jack 30th October 2017, 09:22 PM

I reckon one or two of them will have the venues upgraded or extra dates will end up being announced.

Up to #11 in the UK (while being #2 on sales alone 🙃)

Posted by: THEO. 3rd November 2017, 07:02 PM

You're kidding! I can't believe that it fell from midweek #6 to outside of the top 10! Obviously she still has plenty of time and I'd say top 5 is certain after her X Factor performance.

Posted by: Liаm 3rd November 2017, 07:10 PM

Argh :/at least XF is still to come but this and Havana top 2 would be EVERYTHING

Posted by: JosephStyles 3rd November 2017, 07:14 PM

Unfortunately it looked like a couple of days of streaming were missing in Monday's midweeks, hence the misleading #6 position (it ended up at #11 come Tuesday's mids anyway) sad.gif It's on lock for top 10 next week anyway so I'm not disappointed!

Posted by: THEO. 7th November 2017, 06:21 PM

From Sunday night's X Factor:

She slays this every single time! wub.gif She's still #2 on iTunes behind an X Factor contestant so if she can hold off "Havana" until they drop off from #1, she'll become the iTunes #1 and hopefully build a lead for next week's official chart! It's currently #16 on Spotify too, its highest position yet and #4 in the midweeks! cheer.gif

Posted by: burbe 7th November 2017, 09:40 PM

And yet it is ''alarmschijf'' this week on that radio station which means it will be played every hour.

Love it that they ignore what the GP thought and will force-feed us this amazing song w00t.gif.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 13th November 2017, 11:48 PM

An icon.

Really enjoyed the EMAs performance! My favourite she's done so far. I'd put Jonathan Ross performance second, and X Factor third.

Set for #2 this week! #1 the week after.

Posted by: Jupiteer 14th November 2017, 09:32 AM

Unironically love this. It's took seven or so years but Rita Ora's won me over, this and the Avicii song are bona fide bops.

Posted by: blacksquare 14th November 2017, 10:38 AM

I just wish the production hit a little harder on the chorus - it can sound a little flat, especially live. It's insanely catchy though.

It's interesting how she's been a bit of a joke for a few years and completely turned it around. that hustle~

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 14th November 2017, 06:03 PM

Goes to show how fickle the GP / media are...

Posted by: Klumzee 14th November 2017, 06:27 PM

Has she ever been seen as a joke? At the very most I'd say only within the internet-dwelling forumers and their obsession with 'flopping' popstars for the lack of album after I Will Never Let You Down and Body on Me but the GP would be none the wiser! I think she's popular as ever with the public it's just more obvious at the moment as she's releasing material.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 15th November 2017, 01:58 PM

I think it's that time she put that tweet out "I'll release my single if I can get xyz amount of retweets" and it didn't even get half the retweets she wanted...

Posted by: Jack 15th November 2017, 02:08 PM

I'd say it was also to do with Rob Kardashian that people viewed her as a 'joke' for whatever reason.

Posted by: Jonjo 15th November 2017, 11:22 PM

She's performing on Children in Need tonight, official #1 next week?!

Posted by: burbe 17th November 2017, 10:10 PM

She's making up ground on Spotify and pulling away still on iTunes so definitely a shoe in for #1 this week! It could be close!

Posted by: Jonjo 17th November 2017, 11:08 PM

I can’t quite believe the success she’s having after the poison/body on me ‘era’. She’s pulled it back massively, just shows her popularity I guess. Her music output lately has been great though

Posted by: Parallel Reality 18th November 2017, 10:27 AM

What exactly happened there?

Posted by: Jonjo 20th November 2017, 04:11 PM

Nothing embarrassing from what I saw?

They didn't recognise/realise it was actually her, but she was said to have been a doppelganger and if the coach's didn't realise she was there as a joke/bit of fun, it's hardly their fault to not expect the actual one to turn up... laugh.gif

Also, where the hell has this "she was/is a joke" come from? huh.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ 20th November 2017, 07:15 PM

I guess it shows that her star power isn't strong enough in Germany, for her not to have been instantly recognised the moment the coaches laid eyes on her, and having to tell them. She wasn't even in disguise!

"Rita Ora's prank backfires when no one recognises her" isn't a very cute headline. kink.gif

At least Anywhere is slaying. cool2.gif

Posted by: burbe 20th November 2017, 09:56 PM

Has she got anymore promo this weekend?

Posted by: THEO. 24th November 2017, 08:32 AM

She seems to be all around the world promoting this so nothing in the UK until her Sounds Like Friday Night performance probably.

Posted by: THEO. 29th November 2017, 08:34 PM

She's performing live on Sounds Like Friday Night THIS Friday night! biggrin.gif

Also, https://open.spotify.com/album/3za37Q4l0sSoMFgItC8JPU and https://open.spotify.com/album/7JdaTcp2GIiBv3XSGLAe8W remixes for this are available (go stream them on Spotify! tongue.gif ) I don't really think the William one adds much to the song but I really like the R3hab one and I'm not usually one for remixes.

Posted by: pippa 29th November 2017, 10:04 PM

If only she performed last Friday she would most likely be very safe for number 1 this week.

Posted by: BridgeCow 29th November 2017, 10:19 PM

Really liking the r3hab remix music.gif

Posted by: Mistletheo 2nd December 2017, 05:03 PM

It's my least favourite performance so far, I didn't like the microphone stand hugging at all. It's a shame she was on the smaller stage as the song works a lot better when she has space to move around.

Official #2 again (3 weeks running) and likely to be #2 or #3 next week. A shame she's missed her opportunity for #1 now but I'm very impressed that she's managed another long-running hit. Album announcement now please.

Posted by: cqmerqn 2nd December 2017, 05:10 PM

Hope that it’s #3 this week. I’d rage if it was #2 because that would mean that it would’ve been #1 without the Ed remix.

Posted by: Scene 6th December 2017, 04:36 PM

I think her album will be announced over Christmas/in the early days of 2018 with a release in January/February (maybe to coincide with BRITs performance). Just hope the third single is as good/successful as Anywhere - don't want her to be Stooshe'ed.
