It's been a LONG time coming, after a run of three very unlucky long-running #2s through the Emotion era (I Really Like You, Run Away With Me, Making the Most of the Night) CRJ gains her first chart topper this week with long-awaited comeback track Party For One. The track's ikonek video sees Carly donning a new blonde bob and starring a diverse cast of amig@s including the infinitely memeable sex toy granny for an all-night party in a hotel, and is the perfect accompaniment to the joyously upbeat tune. This didn't quite hit me right away, but proved to be a solid grower - but by now, we expect nothing less from Carly Slay. Artist forum when?? Last week's leader from Debbie and Kim falls back one spot.
Challengers this week for next week's chart come from Femme En Fourrure, looking to add a second chart topper to their tally this year, and Benny Blanco's Eastside which finally clicked with me over the last few weeks. Outside threats that I've been loving come from Tinashe and Little Dragon's inspired collab, Steps, and Clean Bandit. Along with those, new entries this week come from Myrne and Popeska, Jonas Blue, Poppy and Grimes, Becky Hill - after literally months of nearly charting this song and just missing, producer JVNA, Kelsea Ballerini, Ari, Princess Nokia and Pink. I'm ill this week but I do intend to add links to all the new entries through the top 40. In any case, to see what I'm currently listening to (and/or discover some new faves!), you can check out my spotify radio-style playlists, linked at the bottom of this post This here top 40 one covers us up to week 4 of November 2018! Hello Jupiter!
Nice to see "Party For One" at #1, she has brought up a lot of quality since "Call Me Maybe"! The evolution of Carly's music is really fascinating! I also like the huge gain for "Eastside", in my opinion I think nothing from Benny Blanco's library beats this, it's great when it was released and it's great now! And finally from the debuts, I like "Desperate", "Baby" and "Thank U, Next"! Great chart! |

Hi Jupiter!
Not heard Party For One yet, it definitely sounds very Carly She does have a good voice! Giving Get It All a listen - more future bass, but it does sound pretty nice and giving me nostalgia back to early 2017 High School was in my chart around this time last year, we need new music from her! Great chart |
