BuzzJack Music Forum _ 20th Century Retro _ ROUND 7:- Oasis - Time Flies....1994 - 2009 Survivor

Posted by: gavindeejay Feb 11 2020, 06:06 PM

Time Flies....1994 - 2009 was the second Greatest Hits compilation from Oasis. 'Stop The Clocks' came out in 2006 as the first Greatest Hits album, but only featured 18 tracks which were chosen by Noel Gallagher and came about at the end of their record contract with Sony. Time Flies...1994-2009 got released on the 14th June 2010 containing all 27 singles the band had released between 1994 and 2009 including 'Whatever and 'Lord Don't Slow Me Down' which had never appeared on any previous Oasis studio album. 'Sunday Morning Call' is not listed on the official tracklisting, but appears as a hidden track on the end of Disc 2 making it track 14, so I've decided to allow it in the rate.

18. I'm Outta Time - 30% - Tiebreak 64.71%

Released as the second single from their seventh and final studio album 'Dig Out Your Soul' on the 1st December 2008. 'I'm Outta Time' was written and performed by Liam Gallagher and features a short speech sample from John Lennon taken from one of his last interviews in 1980. The speech sample says: "As Churchill said, it's every Englishman's inalienable right to live where the hell he likes. What's it going to do, vanish? Is it not going to be there when I get back?". The song peaked at Number 12 in the UK singles chart breaking the bands consecutive Top 10 streak they had built since 1994 lasting 22 singles, and only spent two weeks in the Top 75, the least ever for an Oasis single. This now means we have no more singles left from the bands final album 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

The chart so far.....

27. Who Feels Love? - 26.83%
26. Lord Don't Slow Me Down - 21.95%
25. Sunday Morning Call - 18.75%
24. Falling Down - 10.94%- 47.06% Tiebreak
23. She Is Love - 21.43%
22. Lyla - 19.05%]
21. The Shock Of The Lightning - 25.00%
20. Go Let It Out - 20.00%
19. Let There Be Love - 42.11%

This is where it gets really hard cos I LOVE all the songs that are left. I voted for 'Shakermaker' even though that's a great song!

I don't get the hate for 'D'you Know What I Mean?' - yeah it's a tad long and over-indulgent and slightly over-produced but underneath it's still a brilliant song. If you haven't already heard it, I'd recommend 'NG's 2016 Rethink' version of it, in which Noel basically stripped the song down and produced it again from scratch. The production on that version is amazing!
