Fantastic to see The 1975 debut at #1, as well as Mura Masa and Declan McKenna in the top 10 smile.gif Enjoying the new Elbow track as well.

You could say that about literally every #1 on this chart tongue.gif

(and the albums chart, of which they've got 3 #1s on anyway...)

True, I guess the whole idea is to be 'alternative' but it makes you question what the significance of being #1 is.

(I was thinking more about this particular single!)

I know, I posted that link in a previous thread for someone who asked how it was compiled! laugh.gif

I was questioning the significance of being #1 on it though, does it mean anything more than just some music blogs talking about it? It doesn't seem like the public have any influence on it at all?

Well not really tongue.gif But I guess if the public weren't interested in it - the music blogs wouldn't write about it.

It's a popularity contest (which is what all charts are anyway!)

It is a popularity contest, except only decided by 59 sources. Which isn't very much at all.

Awful #1 x

Not made as many good discoveries from this list as last week's but the Kim Gordon song was a bit of a pleasant surprise! 'British Bombs' is great as well (can see it getting pretty firmly stuck in my head, almost sounds like a George Ezra song), and 'Fuck It I Love You' but that's hardly 'alternative' xx

Very disappointed by the Mura Masa/Clairo song, I thought that sounded like a potentially great collaboration but it sounded pretty generic.
