No platinum single.
I expected her to have some higher selling singles.

I think she's more a victim of peaking in the low sales era of the 00s - Get Ur Freak On and Work It are iconic singles but both released in that period.

Missy is da best! She's always been criminally underrated among the rap audience when tracks and especially videos like The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly), She's a Bitch, Hot Boyz, Sock It 2 Me basically set the bar at the end of 90s let alone masterpieces like Get Ur Freak On and Work It a few years later.

I'm ecstatic that her work is being recognized!!

Her lack of recent big hits makes this list look a little less distorted than these often do - 'Get Ur Freak On' is definitely the right song to be at #1. A shame that she's never had a platinum single though, so many bangers!

It's unfortunate that she doesn't get credited on Lady Marmalade, even though her voice is on the track

I too was surprised to see no Platinum singles. I thought some of her features might have done better and boosted the list a bit, like how Sean Paul's best sellers were mostly features.

Work It and WTF are my favourites out of her own hits, then the two Ciara songs, Car Wash and Whatcha Think About That (the video version, not the dull album version).

Shout out to BURNITUP with Janet Jackson too!

I’m impressed that Get Ur Freak On is on over 500k and is highly likely to go Platinum in a couple of years! It ended 2001 on sales of 165,000, which made it the 68th best seller of that year. It passed 400k in August 2017.

4 My People was a slightly bigger hit back in the day, selling 173,000 and being the 47th best seller of 2002 (which demonstrates how sales fell in 2002, given that the 47th best seller of 2001 = 224,000 sales).

I was surprised that Oops (Oh My) isn’t on the list, but it seems Missy didn’t get officially credited for some reason.

She was credited on it on the Hits series and I swear they always mentioned her when playing it on the radio.

Exactly - both Freak and Work It are defintively well-remembered classics, but sales were just ridiculously low. I'm not surprised she hasn't gotten a Platinum single yet, but I assume Freak and maybe Work It (along with 1, 2 Step if we're counting features) will make it eventually.

Work It wasn't a particularly big hit in the UK in 2002, which seems surprising considering it feels like a well-remembered classic now (Top 40 run of: 06-14-21-27-33-40 | 70,000 sales in 2002). It deserved more success at the time! It passed 200,000/certified Silver in June 2017. I wonder how far away from Gold it is?

It was huge in the US, ten weeks at #2!

If streaming was around in that time I suspect it would've been a lot bigger!
