Forum Party #2 is here after the huge success of the first one last week! Tonight we continue with the deluxe version of Ariana's sophomore album 'My Everything' - featuring the hits 'Problem', 'Break Free', 'Love Me Harder', 'One Last Time' and 'Bang Bang'. This will start at 8:30pm BST and the running time is around 50 minutes. If you missed the previous party and want to know how this event works, here is a recap of my explanation:
Love this album! Can't wait, also voted Buzzjack's 2nd favourite of hers. Tempted to a 'My Everything' survivor!
Same my mid-table fave of her albums so almost in line with BuzzJack's taste. Bring on 8:30pm *.*
A reminder of the results for the 5th anniversary rate that we did last year:
1 10.3 One Last Time
2 9.85 Love Me Harder
3 8.96 Break Free
4 8.77 Just a Little Bit of Your Heart
5 8.62 Break Your Heart Right Back
6 8.03 Why Try
7 7.69 My Everything
8 7.15 Problem
9 6.96 Best Mistake
10 6.62 Be My Baby
11 6.26 Bang Bang
12 6.23 Hands on Me
13 6.07 Only 1
14 5.19 You Don't Know Me
15 4.92 Intro
The taste generally jumped out tbh
Omg, 'Hands On Me' is FAR too low in that rate! A bop!!
I will try to make this, in the holy trinity of her albums (this, Dangerous Woman and thank u, next)
Hands On Me is the best album track for me! Injustice
I don't often go back to 'Hands On Me' but It was a firm favorite after the album release, I hadn't listened in a while then it came on my playlist and my love of it returned.
Best Mistake remains the worst track on this album. The rest are fab!
One hour until this begins who's here tonight?
I will be there x
I'm here and excited for this one.
This is the album I have listened to the most in my life and it's always a pleasure.
Sorry guys, I'll be missing tonight my Sister wants to Zoom and play games and I miss the socks off her, so family first of course.
Have fun!
- Don't read 'Why Try' to filth because it's stunning. End of. Only facts.
- The Intro is lovely.
- Problem made me fall in love with her instantly. But it's aged badly.
- 'One Last Time' remains to be iconic and such a beacon of a song.
- Break Free is one of my favourite tracks of all time.
- I wish 'Break Your Heart Right Back' was a single because it bops HARD.
- I already covered 'Hands On Me', I feel like it's aged better than 'Problem'.
- 'Love Me Harder' is STUNNING and I can't believe it took me so long to appreciate it.
- 'Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart' and 'My Everything' are both so pretty and I enjoy them a lot.
- Whatever tracks I didn't mention... meh.
Aw that's a shame Julian enjoy!
10 minute warning
It's a shame you're going to miss it but have fun Julian!
Perched
H E R E for this (apologies I missed last week's because I had a quiz night planned :'()
This album is very very special, and I can't wait to share my love for some of the tracks. It features some of my favourite album tracks from her. EXCITE <3
#01. Intro
This is a sweet way to start the album
'Intro' is a pretty start to the album
Hey, heyyyy. I'm here
I've always loved this intro! So beautiful.
Ari actually has stunning intro's! But I don't like including them in rates and ranks :')

Ranking:

Intro on!
I've been going back to this a lot since I first heard it about a month (?) ago (Yours Truly not so much, I've added about three new albums in the last week so I haven't prioritised it as much but I deffo will!)
Not my favourite of her album intros but this is still a lovely listen
#02. Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea)
Don't think I ever knew before that Ariana had a song with Childish Gambino, I clearly haven't paid much attention to the tracklist of this album x
The intro is a cute opener to the album!!
Problem still love this so much!
Problem is in my top 3 songs of all-time.
It spent over a year on my personal chart.
'Intro' to 'Problem' was a pretty jarring transition but now that has passed... happy to bop to 'Problem' now hasn't aged amazingly well but still good!
Problem as song feels SO 2014, with the saxophone and Iggy rap And Big Sean whispering on the chorus tbh! I don't go back to it much but it's an undeniable bop! <3
'Intro' is beautiful. "I want you on this road to the sky / just me and you" what a beautiful way to start the album and it really sets the scene. It's an album to soundtrack falling in love
'Problem' hmm. Not a fave single of hers for me but it's fun enough and pops OFF on a night out *_*
When the second chorus ended I wanted to sing the 'come on with it' in Focus :')
'Problem' is iconic. THE RAP! *.*
It's so catchy but definitely more "of it's time" (not aged horribly or anything). A BOP

#03. One Last Time
One Last Time
Seeing it performed at One Love Manchester is going to remain one of the most emotional nights of my life.
'One Last Time' my first 10/10 on the album I'll never understand why this was left until the 4th single but at least it did get its moment.
This was one of the best albums of last decade ALL BOPS. SO MANY CHOICES FOR SINGLES. EVERYTHING NAILED IT.
One Last Time is my favourite Ariana track these days, though it wasn't when it first came out as a single! I always liked it but Manchester added a whole new level to it
I remember quite well loving this at the time then neglecting it for years, even after it grew in the affections of so many. I fell in love with it all over again when I started getting into the album and haven't looked back!
01. One Last Time
02. Problem
'One Last Time' - goes without saying, one of the defining songs of the 10s decade. Never fails to move me or bring me to tears. Even before the atrocity it was special, but that happening, and the One Love concert sent it to dizzying new heights of love.
Music has so much power doesn't it? <3
A SONG. TOP 10 OF ALL TIME <3
ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVOURITE AND IT GIVES ME HUGE 'EUPHORIA' BY LORQUEEN VIBES <3
---
Rankings:
01. One Last Time
02. Problem
'One Last Time' being this early in the tracklist feels a bit wrong tbh!
I didn't really care much about this song when it was first released but it's retroactively one of her better singles now.
This still sounds just as special as ever.
#04. Why Try
'Why Try' is my favourite album track here! It's such a beauty. The chorus EXPLODES and the "angels and devils" refrain is incredible. WE HAVE TO STAN WE HAVE NO CHOICE
I still don't understand why Ari said 'Why Try' is one of her most boring songs. I love it.
This has become one of my favourite tracks on the album. It's not a single, but just a DAMN GOOD album track. The 'na-na-na-na-na-na-na' bit is ridiculously infectious.
01. One Last Time
02. Why Try
03. Problem
Why Try is a lovely track! Perhaps midtable on the album for me? The soaring chorus is the best bit
'Why Try' is beautiful. But I think she does this kind of thing better, on this album! Beautiful song though <3

Rankings:
01. One Last Time
02. Why Try
03. Problem
I hate that the chorus of this is just reminding me of the awful 'So There' by Alexa Goddard
(it is a much, much better song than that tho xx particularly liked the middle 8 ~)
Break Free is still so fun. I really dislike a lot of Zedd's songs but not this one. The video remains one of her best for me too.
Got us safely through the last round of AF Idol.
#05. Break Free (feat. Zedd)
THAT MIDDLE 8 on WHY TRY
AF Idol has really got me back into 'Break Free' again!
Anthem *.*
This POPPED OFF when I saw her live in September! An ALMIGHTY BANGER! It's such an odd song in the sense that it SHOULD have aged terribly due to how generic it feels, but I think it's having the opposite effect on me!
Incredible.

03. Why Try
04. Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea)
I miss the summer where I almost excursively listened to Problem & Break free and nothing else.
Break Free remains my favourite single on the album and song overall We love a classic! This deserved a top 10 peak and iirc it would've got there if it wasn't for those pesky chart rules about instant grass at the time?
01. Break Free
02. One Last Time
03. Why Try
04. Problem
#06. Best Mistake (feat. Big Sean)
Best Mistake is so underrated. Love Sean's verse on this too.
'Best Mistake' feels a bit underrated on BuzzJack! It's not an absolute highlight or anything but pretty nice. Especially the bridge
Best Mistake is another album track gem <3 The darker vibe foreshadows the Dangerous Woman era and that can only be a good thing Big Sean has a great flow as well. This is just blissful R&B, she did that.
01. Break Free
02. One Last Time
03. Best Mistake
04. Why Try
05. Problem
Best Mistake is okay, not the finest moment of either artist. Good vibe but lacks a bit of punch for me.
A smooth, sensual jam! I should dislike BM more than I do, but there's just something about it! Not a fave, but a chilled vibe! *.*

#07. Be My Baby (feat. Cashmere Cat)
Be My Baby is so fun and bubbly. It feels like a nice throwback.
Mid-table in her Cashmere Cat collaborations for me.
'Best Mistake' is decent! Big Sean's rap is a highlight tbh.
'Be My Baby' would rank very low on an overall ranking. The first dud?
I prefer both 'Quit' and 'Adore' to 'Be My Baby' in terms of Cashmere Cat collabs but this one is still good fun ~
'Be My Baby', yet ANOTHER great album track! I swear Ariana has the most consistent albums out of any pop girl. Even Rih has slightly more filler.
01. Break Free
02. One Last Time
03. Best Mistake
04. Why Try
05. Be My Baby
06. Problem
(All of them are 8.5+ though)
BMB, I have a strange relationship with. I feel like sometimes I like it but other times it's just... there. Not their best collab.

06. Be My Baby (feat. Cashmere Cat)
Be My Baby is defo her best Cashmere Cat collab! Good track, the chorus in particular.
#08. Break Your Heart Right Back (feat. Childish Gambino)
Break Your Heart Right Back
The sample and topic of the song are both iconic and Gambino's verse always makes me laugh.
'Break Your Heart Right Back' is a major highlight. What a B O P and the sample is used geniuosly
Think I'd rank this between the 2 Cashmere Cat collabs that were in her singles rate as well (but closer to the lower one). Not terrible but definitely the most inessential album track so far.
BYHRB is one of those tracks that's TOO instant if you get me, I loved it on first listen but I haven't gone back to it much. Still good though, I love the Diana Ross sample in particular. A gay icon sampling a gay icon we love to see it

07. Break Your Heart Right Back
Back to 10/10 moments, I have so much love for 'Break Your Heart Right Back' Ari has the knack for making tacky samples/interpolations work, first this and later on '7 rings' it was such a welcome surprise to hear on tour as well *.*
"I know the way he did you was whack
But I know how you can get dude right back, and get with me"
Donald Glover shooting his shot
BYHRB is an album highlight
'Break Your Heart Right Back' is amazing! So fun and joyous. A tour highlight! I was literally at hearing it!

#09. Love Me Harder (feat. The Weeknd)
Love Me Harder was actually my introduction to The Weeknd and what an introduction it was. Now they're both among my favourite artists.
The 'Do What U Want' part 2, masterpiece So much love for this still, the production is 10/10. One of her very best singles! <3
'Love Me Harder' is my favourite song on this album it was my favourite Ariana song overall until the 'Sweetener' era happened! So lush.
I like Love Me Harder more now than I did at the time, the production is GREAT, though I still find it a bit overrated oops ~
Seems like I'm on my own with BYHRB being last
Love Me Harder I snubbed for FIVE YEARS. Then it slowly wormed it's way up my affections and I'm going back to it so much atm, making up for lost time! <3 Agree with Haus about the production, it really makes the song.

03. Love Me Harder
04. Best Mistake

Didn't really get anything out of BYHRB oops
'Love Me Harder' we stan though ofc this was my fave song from Ariana for quite a while. The lack of taste @ this not becoming a big hit in the UK etc. x
I actually haven't listened to Love Me Harder for a couple of months and it's sounding amazing. I'm gonna be spamming it all the time now.
#10. Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart
This was my instant favourite album track when I first heard it. A beautiful ballad and the still the best thing Harry Styles has ever been involved in for me.
'Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart' is stunning definitely my favourite ballad album track.
My overall favourite Ariana non-single!!! Such a beauty!
One of my favourite out-right power ballads from Ari! Absolutely gorgeous and so emotive and powerful I'm a sucker for a ballad anyway, but this.. stunning.

'Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart' is one of her most beautiful songs. The lyrics, the sentiment, the vocals, the chants, the production, the helplessness - WE ARE FORCED TO CRY
So gorgeously haunting! Ariana's vocals are sheer perfection

Really like everything so far!
This final minute!
This is certainly the song that aged the worst. But I remember hearing it in 2014 and already thinking it sounded a bit dated. Ferg's parts in particular sound like they've came straight out of the 00's.
#11. Hands On Me (feat. A$AP Ferg)
Also Ferg originally recorded a verse for Break Your Heart Right Back too but he got replaced by Gambino and ended up here.
Hands On Me is decent but it's very jarring at this point in the tracklist
I actually can't at Hands On Me being rated as one of the worst in the rate, it's my fave album track (just)! it's a GLORIOUS bop and I even like Ferg's part, it's great for literal bopping to

From the sublime to... this
(some of the tracklist ordering choices are just that... choices )
Ok the rest of the album tracks haven't been doing much for me but I am really liking 'Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart', a lovely ballad (showing some early potential from Harry Styles I guess ;o)
edit: and I started typing this before it even got to the big notes at the end *.* slay us
(I am a bit behind because I'm listening on pleb free Spotify and am being interrupted by ads)
'Hands On Me' is a lot of fun. It reminds me a lot of something Cassie would release.

'Hands On Me' is a diet bop
Omg at the disdain towards this :')
It's a bop! (I agree about it's tracklisting position being a choice though :') )
#12. My Everything
'My Everything' is a very special song for me. I used it A LOT in the early days getting to know my partner. Whenever I hear it, it takes me straight back to those days. A song for anyone that has ever been in love
The title track has been the weakest song on the album for me since I first listened to it but since OLM it's really grown on me.
'Hands On Me' also a bop, album track quality taking a bit of an upward spike x
(the tracklist order on this album seems a little questionable to say the least though that song would have worked much better being next to 'Problem' or something)
Another lovely ballad I'm glad it got the chance to shine at 'One Love Manchester'!
My Everything is cute but it's just "nice" to me. Not a song I have strong feelings towards (any which way). Sorry </3

#13. Bang Bang (with Jessie J & Nicki Minaj)
I love Ari's & Nicki's parts on this but Jessie's voice really irritates me. I could tolerate her enough to chart this at #1 in my personal chart though
Jessie J is still in my top 50 most played artists of all-time on Last.fm purely from me listening to this album.
'My Everything' into 'Bang Bang' has to get the award for worst tracklisting moment EVER. This album has about 4 awful transitions, but this takes the biscuit This song is... not a favourite of mine - fun on a night out but that's it :')
I think I've made my feelings on 'Bang Bang' pretty clear in the past SCREEEEECH x
Everyone (including Ari lol) seems to hate this. But I love it :') It gets such a hard time! A bop!

'My Everything' was pretty nice but definitely not near as good as JALBOYH as far as this album's ballads go ~
'Bang Bang' one of Jessie's few tolerable songs xx
ah no didn't realise this was taking place! Will have my own listenthrough tomorrow at some point.
Only 1 just gets better and better for me. I'm glad she's really been embracing it recently. She didn't perform it at all on her first 2 tours but did perform it brilliantly during the Sweetener World Tour.
'Only 1' is my favourite of the bonus tracks! It has grown on me a bit since tour. Such a random inclusion on that setlist but why not
I've always found the 'Only 1' / 'twice as good' / 'three times better' thing clever
Only 1 is decent, definitely not worthy of a standard tracklisting place though.
Never really been a fan of this song. </3 It's just "there" and I find it rather forgettable. I can def see why it was only a bonus track.

Bang Bang also underrated on Buzzjack
'You Don't Know Me' is pretty bouncy I guess but I can definitely see why it's only a bonus track!
Lots of random samples on this song, including The Beastie Boys! One of the better upbeat tracks on the album I think. I wish it wasn't relegated to being a bonus track,
The bonus tracks are very inessential The standard version works incredibly as an album though (if you ignore the tracklist order). This and Dangerous Woman are her holy duo
Yeah. She got the bonus tracks correct on this album. None of them are worthy of being on the standard editions, but serve as cute enough bonus tracks.

The bonus tracks really aren't essential on this album (unlike Dangerous Woman!) - this one's decent but the album definitely should've finished at My Everything (with Bang Bang included somewhere fitting among the standard tracklist)
You Don't Know Me is another track I dismissed as filler on first listen but it's grown nicely! It just needs a bit more oomph in the production but I do like the floaty element of it. It would fit on Yours Truly better I think

The top 3 there are all better than anything off 'Yours Truly' (JALBOYH is a wonderful discovery) but I think on the whole I actually liked 'Yours Truly' slightly more than this album (it doesn't help that the tracklist order on this album felt very slapdash and random at parts).
