BuzzJack Music Forum _ Lady Gaga _ Will Gaga get Radio 1 support for LG6?

Posted by: HauntedHaus 21st December 2019, 05:05 PM

We did the same for http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=224214&hl=spotify+support, but do you think Radio 1 will get behind Gaga in the new era? Can you see them playlisting the new single and supporting it?

What levels of radio support do you think she will receive?

She’s probably more Radio 2 now, but I guess it really depends on the direction she takes.

I think it depends on what the new music will sound like and the quality.

I think it’ll be all over radio during the initial days of the lead singles release it all just depends on what she comes back with if it’ll stick during the whole campaign. I can see her getting C listed at the list then potentially moving up the ranks.

R1 supported her with The Cure didn't they? I remember being quite surprised so if she comes back with a banger then I'm sure they'll be on board!

It was weird that they didn't support Shallow.. I mean 1BN streams on Spotify soon, surely young people love it too.

It is strange but maybe it's more because if the fact it's from a movie soundtrack? Did they support Beyonce's 'Spirit' / Greatest Showman tunes? unsure.gif

I think they *should've* playlisted it when it was #1 any case.

I think they will support the first single - they seem to be A-Listing any comeback from reasonably popular acts with a fanbase and Gaga is still popular and very well-known even if she doesn't light up the charts like she used to. Further playlisting will depend on what genre she comes back with and how accessible it is.

I'm sure Shallow was just snubbed because they viewed it as not really "them"/potentially something to do with it being a soundtrack single. I think that the first single from LG6 will have instant support, probably B-list initially, and how quick it moves up or gets taken off, and whether further singles from the era get support, will come entirely down to how that first single performs in the chart.

They playlisted a couple of songs from Bey's soundtrack album but not Spirit itself. Nothing from The Greatest Showman at all!

I think the fact it was from a musical was probably a key factor in not being playlisted, because obviously Shallow was an undeniably MASSIVE hit and they supported The Cure. I'm fully expecting them to be back on board with the lead single at least in the next era!

Did they playlist Million Reasons?

I think she's guaranteed to get support with the first single, I'm hoping the era actually goes well enough for her to get continued support throughout though.
