I think we could possibly go even safer, there's no need to throw out any big guns at Round 1. Maybe something like 'Roulette' that's considered great but wouldn't be in her "tops" to submit to an album track round?

I think 'Roulette' is too obscure / not loved enough. Katy has enough well-regarded singles to get her through.

Yeah, I've just trawled through the other forums and realised people are going in for Round 1 harder than I expected. Waking Up In Vegas sounds like a good shout for being liked but not in most people's top 5's etc.

How popular is ET on here? It’s a personal fave of mine but I’m not sure how much anyone else liked it 
I think California Girls or Waking Up In Vegas are great choices, the latter actually came on shuffle for me the other day and I forgot how much of a bop it is! That whole album was incredible actually

E.T. is hugely popular and a big hitter for later.
WUIV is a cute choice (and in my personal top 3 from her so you can count on my vote 
) or Legendary Lovers which is more of a risk but probably ok for first round given only 3 out of 26 are leaving!

Yeah E.T actually held up better than I thought in last year’s ASFC final Waking Up... isn’t remembered amongst casual/non fans I thought, it’s always seemed quite forgotten to me but I wasn’t really following Katy at the time so y’all know best. I was thinking the lesser Teenage Dream singles, TOTGA or Wide Awake? This is How We Do is another one.
Peacock is probably her best known album track tbh

"Waking Up In Vegas" seems to be a good choice in this round. I wouldn't be opposed if "The One That Got Away" or even "Harleys In Hawaii", in a lesser extent, are sent instead.

It's a very good choice for the first round, I think. I know a lot of people would cast it aside, but I think it'll get more casual votes than people think.

I think either would be safe options. CG could be risky depending on what it's up against. Roar seems generally more loved on here.

I think Chained might be the best choice too (obviously with saving IKAG & Roar in mind) Cali Gurls has it's fair share of haters, but I'd assume it'd pick up a lot of casual votes?

Yeah, I'd definitely keep Roar for later. Chained was my thought aswell, with only one going, I'm quietly confident we could send ANY of the four and we'd make it through, not to be arrogant.

Going by our last rate results, this is the ranking of Katy's lead singles:
5th | Roar
6th | Chained To The Rhythm
10th | I Kissed A Girl
13th | California Gurls
...which suggests Chained To The Rhythm is a stronger option to "save" for later rounds than I Kissed A Girl and California Gurls would be? Decisions x

I genuinely don't know which would be the best to send through because I think they'd all make it to the next round. She has strong lead singles. I'm always surprised by the hate for Cali gurls on here though so maybe we could rule that one out. We could risk IKAG and save Chained and Roar for later rounds? I'm happy to go with any of them!

If "Walking On Air" is totally out of the question..I'm not convinced by the TD album as it had so many (correctly chosen) singles, but "Hummingbird Heartbeat" and "Not Like The Movies" would be decent choices imo. The debut also has three very strong album tracks in "One of the Boys", "Self Inflicted" and "If You Can Afford Me"
Personally I wouldn't back anything from Witness

'Hummingbird Heartbeat' is a favourite of mine, so i'd throw support behind that. Failing that 'Legendary Lovers' is probably her most well known album track outside of the TD era.
'Roulette' is A M A Z I N G but a Witness track? I am not sure how popular it would be

Peacock is literally one of her most streamed, maybe actually the most streamed of her album tracks though? In this round I don’t think it’s a bad pick at all. I remember at the time of Chained’s release it was her 20th best seller.
That or Hummingbird Heartbeat/Roulette. Maybe ‘international smile’ as well <3

I’ve never really delved into Katy’s album tracks much, but I did give Witness a few spins when it was released and ‘Roulette’ has featured on every one of my playlists since. It’s such a massive bop (and also sonically similar to the songs that are big at the moment, which might go in its favour).

Maybe I'm biased but I thought Never Really Over is generally seen as one of her best and a welcome return to form. HNC has always been popular on this forum but it's difficult to know how tired people are of it compared to newer hits it might be up against later on.

The bottom 3 of the last singles rate were Rise, Cozy Little Christmas and Birthday if we are excluding 365 and obscure remix no one knows.
Birthday is probably the best option - or 365 if we can include that - but Rise is probably my fave out of them.

Is there anything that isn't Not Like The Movies that would survive this? I'd quite like to save Not Like The Movies for a certain future round if possible but if not, getting through this round is a priority.

Again, just purely out of interest what would you have selected for Katy for the missed opportunity round.
