BuzzJack Music Forum _ Television _ Blankety Blank returns

ITV will produce a return of Blankety Blank this Christmas with David Walliams hosting. If the show is a hit, it will air for a full series in 2017. The gameshow was previously hosted by Terry Wogan, Les Dawson and Lily Savage on BBC One, with the latter returning for a mini-revival on ITV. It sees six celebrities help two contestants by filling in blanked-out words in a phrase.

QUOTE
Walliams said: "I loved Terry Wogan and Les Dawson as a child, and Paul O'Grady was absolutely hilarious. "I hope I can bring this much loved show to life for a new generation."

ITV's head of comedy entertainment Peter Davey said the show would "delight fans of the original" while attracting new fans." David Walliams is the perfect host for this - he'll bring his comedic talents and warm personality to the show," he said.

Surprised this hasn't happened earlier really! It'll probably get around 4m which will probably be enough for a full series!

I actually think he's a good choice for this show but I hope it remains a special and not a full time return!

Didn't ITV do some kind of "ask the celebrity the answer" show recently? I remember thinking then it was a bit like Blankety Blank, now I guess they've managed to buy the format from the BBC.

Bit worried it'll be yet more TV time for the likes of Amanda Holden and Louis Walsh, but might give it a go if they don't screw with the format too much.

Nobody will ever beat Les Dawson though!

Yeh, they brought back Celebrity Squares - where there were nine celebrities and the contestants had to play a noughts and crosses sort of game I think. That didn't exactly perform fantastically but I guess Blankety Blank is more well known. I forgot that it being on ITV will just mean that the 'celebrities' are just everyone who works on an ITV programme including TOWIE :/

That's true, and there was another one that was a kind of a cross between the two I think but I'm not sure how many episodes were made.
