UK Chart Run: 16-6-4-2-1-1-1-1-2-5-7-16-17-17-16-38-52-65 (18 weeks)

Another round and another cover version departs. Brummie reggae singer Pato Banton took his cover of The Equals' 1968 original to #1 for 4 weeks, 1 week more than said original. The song featured Ali & Robin Campbell of UB40 (so some extension into the 1994 survivor for that pair as well). Banton would have 4 further top 40 singles, also all collaborations.

Round 5 will be ran across this weekend.

Went for Doop. God this is such a poor list for a year end top 10.

That awkward moment when the best song in this list for me is the one in the lead :') I guess I'm just partial to Bon Jovi ballads as I also love 'Bed of Roses' by them as well.

I also love ballads and rock ballads, so quite fond of Always
Always is definitely better than Doop, Saturday Night and the insipid Wets cover
at least Always is an original

I for one welcome our new Doop overlords.

This is really not a great list oops, I'm voting for Let Loose due to not recognising it but then I don't really care much for half of the songs I do know. Doop is legit my 2nd favourite of these laugh.gif

I guess I'm in the minority, but I really like most of what's left, a lot in a guilty pleasure way, but still good.

Going for Bon Jovi here x

Yeh Doop for me now too, surely has to go before Always!

Pato song is a poor cover - it misses the tempo of the original in 1968 chorus for me which says alot as the original was from the 60s!

Bon Jovi off next ohmy.gif

As compensation, here's a video I posted that I recorded backstage (well, technically to the side of the stage) at Kings Park Bournemouth when Jon Bon Jovi did the Radio 1 roadshow. "it's not what you know it's who you know" and my workmates who co-ordinated with the BBC knew I'm a massive pop fan laugh.gif tongue.gif

I mean, Doop...! laugh.gif

Doop for me, it's ok but was never particularly fond of it for a 90s dance song! I'd rather listen to Always.

Unfortunately it looks like BJ are out now sad.gif should have at least been top 5 from this bunch.

Guess I'll be championing East 17 to win now I think already.
