Thanks Jay. I'm certain 'Glory' will be Top 3, as long as Beyonce & Jay Z don't release next week. Sales wise I think somewhere around 15k...

Yeah, I'll be stoked if she outdoes BJ's #'s. Considering it was in a high sales climate.

I'd say between 7-8k for Glory which should be enough for #3 behind Frank and Barbra as everyone else says, unless someone gets a bit of TV promo somewhere which could push her down to #4 or #5. Top 5 should be certain though, and if you'd told me Britney would get another top 5 album after Britney Jean entered where it did I'd have snapped your hand off.

I'm pretty sure it will have sold 7-8k on pre-orders.

I'd be disappointed to see it sell lower than 12k. Maybe my expectations are too high, idk. Let's hope we're all pleasantly surprised!

Britney's first week album sales seem generally quite consistent with the odd inflation here and there (second albums usually have high first week sales following 'sleeper' debut albums and Circus got a boost from X Factor UK and the fact she was a big enough name at the time to thrive on a Christmas market). Then there's the anomaly of Britney Jean but I think that'll be a closer mark for her future albums than the 30k/40k+ of most of the other albums. It would be a shame if Glory couldn't beat the latter's first week sales, especially as there's strong promo lined up for release week, and I'd be very underwhelmed if it couldn't even manage 10k.
What's going to be harder to fix is what happens after debut week. Femme Fatale and Britney Jean both suffered just over 70% decreases in their second weeks (32k-9k and 13k-4k respectively) so, if we pretend Glory sold as Britney Jean did, that would put her at the bottom of the Top 15/20 (depending on how much album sales in general get propped up by new releases, given 4k would have been enough for the Top 10 last week!). Femme Fatale averaged out at around 5k for a few weeks after that, I think, but that was thanks to 'Till the World Ends' taking off so I can't see anything propping this album up. I fear that it could spend just 4 or 5 weeks in the Top 100. Also, I find it odd that Britney's albums, since her third, have had a frontloaded/fan-base style chart run. Obviously, back in her heyday, the albums would go back up as each single was released so you can't say they weren't successful, but I thought an artist of her status would pick up more general buys right from the start. It also seems odd that, although quite consistent, the first week sales were quite low, in respective to how big she is, that is. To compare, Kylie's albums in the same time frame as Britney's career, have opened much better, although I guess that's largely down to the fact Kylie's promotion in the UK has been huge whereas it seems Britney is more US focused. |

Why do I get the feeling that next weeks top 4 albums will be:
01. Frank Ocean/Barbara Streisand ~20k >> I actually think Babs will easily do over 20k! So with Frank being an "Apple Music" exclusive, he could just as easily fall short! << 02. Barbara Streisand/Frank Ocean ~20k 03. Dolly Parton 12k 04. Britney Spears 9k Maybe I'm over estimating Babs and Dolly, but I can def see her album bringing in more people to casually buy Dolly's album too! I'm usually well off the mark with predictions and things, but it's always fun to guess! |

Not Frank's fault his album is better, huns buns His album is really great! I'm not hating on 'Blonde' or him as an artist. I just really wanted her to finally have a UK #1 album under her belt and there always seems to be something that blocks her. With that being said, I'd much rather Frank be the person to keep the #1 spot instead of Barbara's release. Glad no one in here was baited into an unnecessary argument because of your comment tho. |
