I've been reading about the Bedtime Stories era and it appears 'Forbidden Love' was in line to be the 5th single.

Terry Anzaldo, head of promotions at Maverick, confirmed in an interview in April 1995 that 'Human Nature' was the 4th single and revealed 'Forbidden Love' would be released after. A year later, a source at Warner Bros. confirmed that 'Forbidden Love' was intended to be the fifth and final single in late August 1995 (with 'Don't Stop' as the B-side) and that a video was under consideration to be shot. It was scrapped in place of Something to Remember.

'Don't Stop' received plays when 'Bedtime Story' was released and radio were keen for it to be released at the time of 'Human Nature'. Apparently people at Maverick said they could play 'Don't Stop' instead of 'Human Nature' if it suited their demographics better.

'Bedtime Story' was Madonna's pick for lead single, hence why plans for the music video were made so in advance.

I completely forget that Nothing Fails was even a single — such a missed opportunity not to push that more. I suppose there was no saving the album at that point though.

Nothing Fails wasn't released in the UK and barely pushed to US radio; it was mainly a mainland Europe single. Obviously Love Profusion was favoured above it as it got a video.

I have the single of Nothing Fails somewhere - the cover is atrocious.

wtf at the tiny picture of Madonna from the GAP ad shoot. It just makes me wonder that Madonna doesn't care for the track and worked actively in trying to kill it.

It was a single in mainland Europe. I actually bought it at a store where I live when it was released and recall hearing it a few times on the radio.

I assume that Love Profusion only got a video treatment due to the Estée Lauder campaign, too bad Nothing Fails couldn't get one too but oh well. It's not like the LP video is good anyway.
