17th. Applause = 9 votes
Welcome to Round 8 of Lady Gaga's Least Fave Single and we finally say goodbye to 'Applause', after several rounds of almost getting the chop, this time it finally bows out with more than half the votes of the others in the poll, but funnily enough less than it had in the last round. This now leaves the 'Artpop' era with just 1 single left, just like the 'Joanne' era, We'll see how long those remaining songs will last in this competition. Released in August 2013 as the lead single from her 3rd studio album, this single really came at dare I say it bad time by being overshadowed by Katy Perry's 'Roar'. which came 2 days before and not only being constantly compared to the far superior song. This faced an unrealistically challenging uphill battle from the get-go and despite becoming a successful hit in its own right, it never fully emerged from that song's shadow and its not really hard to see why, the song itself is fine and quite zany with some pretty addictive hooks and the theme of needing self approval and the almighty middle finger to the haters sounds great, but compared to her previous material at the time, this did feel kinda stale and doesn't work as a lead single in opinion (maybe if it released later) this could have worked and while I do like 'Applause', I'm simply not living for it. Other songs that got votes 'Born This Way', 'The Cure' & 'I'll Love Never Again' had a 3-way tie with 4 votes each. Both 'Judas' & 'Million Reasons' managed 3 votes each, then finally 'The Edge of Glory', 'Do What U Want' & 'Always Remember Us This Way' all got 1 vote each. 16 left same rules apply just vote for your Least Fave from the remaining songs and the one with the most will be out by next round, which will be sometime next week. Results so Far: 17. Applause = 9/30.00% 18. LoveGame = 13/30.23% 19. Perfect Illusion = 7/21.88% 20. You And I = 7/21.21% 21. G.U.Y. = 11/15.94% 22. Joanne = 18/26.09% 23. Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) = 9/40.91% 24. Til It Happens To You = 10/31.25% |
