Looking at the Spotify chart there is already a takeover of Christmas songs, how many do we reckon will be in the top 40/100 in the post-Christmas chart?

Last year we had 13 in the top 40 and 39 in the top 100, but this is likely to increase with the added prominence of streaming in the chart as well as with ACR rules.

Also feel free to predict what songs will end up going top 40 this year. And remember that 'Driving Home For Christmas' was taken off streaming last year so didn't appear in this list (it dropped out the chart from the previous week's #27) but hopefully that doesn't happen again this year, for now it is on streaming.

I'm going to predict Mariah, Wham, Pogues, Shaky, Wizzard, Andy Williams, Michael Buble, Band Aid, Slade, Brenda Lee, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Chris Rea, Ariana Grande, John Lennon, Justin Bieber and Leona Lewis (wishful thinking) will all be top 40 so that makes 17. And I suppose the likes of Bing Crosby, Coldplay, Michael Buble's other song etc. could also have a chance depending on just how big Christmas Day streaming is.

Mariah Carey I reckon could be the week's official #1 too knocking off Ed Sheeran or Wham.

As for the entire top 100 I'm going to say there'll be at least 50 though it's hard to predict which songs will be removed from ACR and which won't (for now I'll assume everything will be taken off ACR).

Here's last year's chart for reference.

5 5 78 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You
7 16 47**(72) Wham! - Last Christmas
15 15 84**(89) The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York
17 22 57 Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
20 8 3 Matt Terry - When Christmas Comes Around
23 27 44 Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
24 41 38 Andy Williams - It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
27 38 19 Michael Bublé - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
29 35 41**(65) Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas?
30 39 86**(90) Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody
31 44 35 Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
37 47 23 Elton John - Step Into Christmas
40 54 20 Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime

47 72 22**(28) Bing Crosby ~ White Christmas
48 52 17 Coldplay ~ Christmas Lights
49 64 26**(66) John & Yoko & The Plastic Ono Band ~ Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

Probably more than 20 & more than 60 given their dominance on streaming that week added to the fact many of the non-xmas hits will be on ACR.

Im thinking around 15-20 in the top 40.

I know the itunes chart isn't a good indicator anymore for chart position but there appears to be a lot doing well on spotify!

I mean Leona is doing great on Spotify...she is away go top 50...and her song is about xmas eve lol...can see this one gaining big time this year.
I think last year it went to 70 or 71. Deserves top 40 for sure!

I think Last Christmas will get a huge bump this year too...for obvious reasons.
