Dexton's Top 40 (06/02/2017) (Week 39)
To absolutely no ones surprise, Justin Timberlake's Man Of The Woods debuts at #1 on the album chart, bringing along with it a bunch of album tracks into the Top 40. Reclaiming it's throne is Filthy which climbs back to #1 for a fourth week, becoming only the second single in the history of my chart to hold the #1 position for over 3 weeks (previously Rita Ora's Anywhere had a 4-week-long run at the top). Completing a Timberlake Top 3 is Supplies (4-2) and Say Something featuring Chris Stapleton (13-4). Vera Blue drops to #4 after being my #1 last week, and a new entry to the chart is Justin's Man Of The Woods at #5. Justin accounts to a total of 10 songs of my chart this week: Filthy (#1), Supplies (#2), Say Something featuring Chris Stapleton (#3), Man Of The Woods (#5), Livin' Off The Land (#7), Breeze Off The Pond (#13), Higher Higher (#16), Morning Light featuring Alicia Keys (#22), Sauce (#28), and Young Man (#40). The only non-Justin Timberlake entry into my chart this week comes from Ofenbach vs. Nick Waterhouse with thier funky dance single from late last year, Katchi, which enters at #33. This has grown on me a lot the past week so expect this to climb fast! Other songs finding new peaks are Sigrid's Strangers (10-8), Mabel's Fine Line featuring Not3s (33-25), Hayden James' NUMB featuring GRAACE (39-35), and Topic & Ally Brooke's Perfect (38-36). Meanwhile, a bunch of songs are booted out of the Top 40 including Rita's Anywhere, a former #1 and last weeks longest running single. I never thought a country Justin Timberlake album would necessarily appeal to me, but Man Of The Woods was an instant love for me and I'm digging pretty much every track. He's got a lot of criticism this year for basically anything he's done, but none from me, as the man of the woods is already my third favourite JT album (which is a bigger feat than it sounds ). Keys N Krates released their debut album, Cura, too this week, which enters at #8. Hello Dexton! So much Justin Timberlake! Also, nice to see "Katchi" debut! And I like your bubbling under chart! Great chart overall! Hey sergej! Man Of The Woods is a really nice album (nicer than I was expecting tbh ) Katchi is growing on me a lot also! :dance I felt a bubbling under was kind of necessary this week with 1/4 of the chart being JT Some of those might chart next week, who knows Thanks for commenting! No one liked Illuminati Justin in the Supplies video I guess Still my second favourite from the album though I can definitely see why MOTW [album] is a grower for many people The title track is really nice also! Higher Higher is quickly becoming an album track favourite for me I think, the production & the lyrics both compliment each other which isnt entirely common on this album. Even the less than academic stress is cool, money is fine, but your special isnt as bad as it sounds on paper Questionable lyrics for sure Thanks for commenting! |

So many interesting ones here! Regular Touch will be charting for me from Vera a bit later on in the year, it's been on my to listen list for a while, good choice. Magazine is another of my faves from her album. Other similarities; Rita's Anywhere also had a four week run at the top for me which is quite a record for my charts.
Also; nice to see someone else who likes Supplies! I'm not understanding the lukewarm response towards it from critics and commercially too - best thing he's released since CSTF in my book. Diplo/M0, Topic/Ally, Pnau and Superfruit would be my other top picks from this week's list |

Hi Dexton, Not suprised at this JT Takeover I like Man Of The Woods and Sauce from the ones you entered! Great Chart Hi Harry! JT was always going to dominate my chart this week It could've been worse though Man Of The Woods [song ] is growing on me a lottttt, the more I listen to the album the more I love it despite being a little bit hesitate at first Thanks for commenting! Regular Touch caught me off guard I'd only really heard of Vera before but then actually listened to this and I loved it instantly I'm very interested in listening to more of her stuff at some point! Rita's 4-week run was also a record for my charts being the first song to last that long on top Of course Filthy has joined Anywhere and could even beat her record next week! It might seem a bit ignorant but I'm just ignoring the negative opinions on 2018 Justin now. I like it, and that's all that matters to me in term of his music Nice to see you liking CSTF too, quite a polarizing song really given how it's very much a love/hate single these days. Filthy is of course the superior single Say Something has grown on me a lot since the albums release but I think Supplies edges it to my second fav. of this era far, but time will tell Don't Kill My Vibe is a Sigrid favourite for me still I think I'm really happy Strangers has took off though, well deserving!
