Posted by: Rob Spears 8th February 2017, 05:52 PM

Gaga has just released the video to John Wayne!

Posted by: Queen LeQueefa 8th February 2017, 06:18 PM

GROSS.

FLOP.

Posted by: DiamondHeart 8th February 2017, 06:41 PM

Would of preferred Ayo but it's directed by Jonas Akerlund who directed Paparazzi & Telephone so I'm perched to see the full video, loving the visuals so far. I LOVE HOW ON FIRE SHE IS ATM

Posted by: Davidson 8th February 2017, 07:05 PM

Seems to be out there.

Hopefully will be up on VEVO in proper quality soon.

Posted by: Davidson 8th February 2017, 07:10 PM

It's a bit manic but is by far the best video of the era.

Seems to get the vibe between old-Gaga and new country-Gaga just right (as does the song).

Posted by: Rob Spears 8th February 2017, 07:21 PM

It's f*****g amazing. Best video since MTN!

Posted by: SKOB 8th February 2017, 08:24 PM

My thoughts exactly.. Jonas Åkerlund knows how the get the best of out her

Posted by: jase. 8th February 2017, 09:33 PM

EASILY the best video since Marry the Night. My GOD I've missed ControversialGa wub.gif

Posted by: Cucumberella 8th February 2017, 10:38 PM

and THAT is how you do a video!

qt song too

Posted by: liamk97 8th February 2017, 11:04 PM

Great choice! I suspected (or at least thought they'd be solid choices) that either 'John Wayne' or 'Dancin' in Circles' would be the next single. Both are quite upbeat and they sort of follow the minimalistic chorus format which is popular at the moment.

Posted by: Jonjo 9th February 2017, 12:37 AM

WHAT A VIDEO.

YES GAGA.

YES JONAS.

HOLY COW.

Posted by: Rob Spears 9th February 2017, 06:20 PM

Does she run over a dog? ohmy.gif

Posted by: liamk97 9th February 2017, 06:44 PM

Just seen the video in full now! Does anyone else get 'Paparazzi'/'Telephone' vibes from it? Like, some of the editing, the cartoony/comic-like lyrics and just the craziness of it? It's probably as close to we'll get for seeing the final part of that trilogy of videos. I really like it; seems a little unpolished but I think that adds to the effect. As Davidson said, it's a good balance between country Gaga and GAGA Gaga.

EDIT: On Vevo!

Posted by: Davidson 9th February 2017, 07:13 PM

There are a lot of fans saying this is indeed intended to be the final part of the Paparazzi, Telephone videos.

I don't really know how, apart from the graphics being similar. Either way, still adore. The more I watch it the better it gets.

I hope it allows people to appreciate what I have always thought was the best track on Joanne.

Posted by: HausofSZA 9th February 2017, 07:19 PM

Just watched it a day late, but I absolutely love it. Davidson hit it on the head, in that it's a perfectly "classic" GAGA video for this era. So frantic and high-octane, just like the song. I love the colourful and cartoony affect and the fun jokes throughout (except for the dog being run over ://). Best video of this era for sure and on one watch it beats G.U.Y. too so that also makes it my favourite since Marry The Night!

Posted by: liamk97 9th February 2017, 07:28 PM

I've rewatched a few times now and I really love the video right now! Can't say I've actually seen the dog being run over lmao but I laugh every time at the bit where she shoots herself with her shoe at the end, I don't know why! :')

Posted by: mr_pmt 9th February 2017, 08:16 PM

EASILY her best video since the Fame Monster days, I've been waiting for a video like this from her again.

I'm not so fond of the song though.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 9th February 2017, 08:36 PM

What a RIDE.

Posted by: SKOB 9th February 2017, 09:00 PM

This video gives me life :'(

Posted by: princess lotita 10th February 2017, 01:44 AM

she's such a ducking queen give me life mother monsysd

Posted by: Atonement 10th February 2017, 05:32 PM

Can't believe I'm saying this but I love the video and the song. Didn't expect something this good ohmy.gif

Posted by: Slick 10th February 2017, 05:46 PM

The video is classic GaGa, although a little all over the place. I'm disappointed by the single choice though - I don't think 'John Wayne' is a highlight.

Posted by: Slick 10th February 2017, 05:50 PM

It's nice to see she's still prepared to make a video of this quality and hasn't given up on that altogether.

Posted by: DiamondHeart 10th February 2017, 06:26 PM

singles (best to worst) this era: Million Reasons > Perfect Illusion > John Wayne
videos (best to worst) this era: John Wayne > Perfect Illusion > Million Reasons

Performing this at the Grammys with Metallica I assume! Excited ~

Reaction from my mate: "this is such a throwback to her earlier days" wub.gif

Posted by: SKOB 12th February 2017, 03:13 PM

They're rumoured to perform Moth Into Flame but maybe this as well?

Posted by: princess lotita 12th February 2017, 07:23 PM

if there is a mashup of those two I many DIE

Posted by: Jade 12th February 2017, 11:35 PM

LATE but this video is absolutely brilliant! Gaga's videos were one of the things I loved about her most so it saddened me that I wasn't mad about any of her videos since the Born This Way era. But yes, this is a total return to form in her videography! Action-packed and totally GaGa *.* 'John Wayne' is one of the highlights from 'Joanne' for me too so I'm on board with that as a single choice.

Posted by: liamk97 28th February 2017, 09:50 PM

Any news of this getting a push or is it deemed just a promo single? I get that 'Million Reasons' is taking off in the US but a music video is a big part of a single's campaign and the further down the line we get, the harder it will be to make 'John Wayne' a hit.

Posted by: Queen LeQueefa 28th February 2017, 10:58 PM

Flop.

I think the plan was to push it as the next single, but Million Reasons belated success has slowed it down MR is still top 10 on US iTunes and still climbing on radio.

Posted by: HausofSZA 1st March 2017, 07:05 AM

MR is getting very good radio updates now and still slaying iTunes in the US so HOLD YOUR HORSES (and go a little FASTERRRR) we aren't in a rush to move on yet x

Posted by: DiamondHeart 2nd March 2017, 07:20 AM

I don't think JW is the third single, just a video release to lift streams and keep the fans happy! MR has been added by various major stations in the US and is stabilizing in top 10 iTunes. I don't think we'll have a third single for a while, perhaps to coincide with her Coachella performance? and even then doubt it would be John Wayne.

John Wayne is awful anyway...

Roba Flopa, don't be one of those fans destroying her career!! It is awful and no one out the fanbase would be into it.

It's the best song she's released since Marry The Night/Applause and the best video since MTN.

The best video but the song is not good.

Yes, esp Million Reasons.

I do. Agreed on the video though.

But the whole album is turd.

One year ago, Lady Gaga dropped the surprise music video release of explosive, pop-rock banger 'John Wayne'. Written, produced by Gaga alongside Mark Ronson and BloodPop, it's yet another song where Gaga tells of her tempestuous relationships with the wrong kind of guys. The music video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund and continued on from the two singles before it. Although it didn't get full single treatment, the video was perhaps the most accomplished of the era and really raised the bar back in terms of Gaga's visuals.

Gaga also performed the song at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ooj2W68_m8 which culminated in THIS MOMENT OF LIFE

What do you think of the song and video? Comment and discuss below~

Still much the same for me.

Video: yes wub.gif

The video is the best since G.U.Y.! The song is very fun but not a huge highlight. I loved the tour performance though.

This

Still got the problem she's had since GUY though: short, jittery, jutting scenes rammed into a video

A song I prefer live actually. The tour version / Victoria secret performances are yahoo.gif wub.gif but it’s not a track I specifically look to listen to when I want to listen to Gaga. There’s many more I’d rank above it from the Joanne era.

So it's collected around 18 million streams in two years. Not bad, but not smashing either.
