I would take Toney ahead of Watkins everyday if the week, he’s more charasmatic and can make something out of nothing.

Since when has charisma been a determining factor? Plus the manager has the charisma of a door lol

I'll be controversial too and say I don't quite get the Mainoo hype. Admittedly I've not seen him enough yet & undoubtedly of the few times I've seen him he has potential but the hype at the moment is purely because of who he plays for. He's tidy on the ball, but Belgium played through the middle very easily and against Brazil when he came on, they got even more joy on the counter. He can pick a pass and he gets goodwill because of his age, but not sure he functions well in a midfield unit. Admittedly, I'm not sure any of our midfielders do and that might just be tactical. I actually feel a bit sorry for Curtis Jones, unfortunate timing with his injuries, but feel he'd have got a look-in during this period.

Just makes me laugh a little as everyone's suggesting he's a lock for the plane, when his stats are actually pretty average. Doesn't mean to say he won't go on to be a great player at an elite level, but it's a great example of recency bias and the media train taking effect.

The position he plays in has something to do with it. There's been so much moaning about Henderson and Phillips in the last 2 years, and Gallagher and Ward-Prowse hardly whet the appetite, that a new young midfielder gets all the attention!
