Let's try not to get too partisan here.

They are usually 6 weeks.

Not sure what the correct answer is but the Conservatives have been in campaign mode since the end of July.

At least they're not as long as in the US where you get the primaries months and months beforehand and then several months of campaigning by the two candidates.

Not just the Conservatives, but probably the Lib Dems and SNP too I would say.

Election campaigns in the US are essentially 2 years long, 6 weeks is nothing in comparison. (Of course there's usually some pseudo campaigning a bit before the 6 week period here too but still).

I wonder if there's a negative correlation between campaign length & turnout? dry.gif

I think I was too generous here - it's not 4 weeks yet, and it already feels like 4 years! ohmy.gif

That's because the establishment Tories have been campaigning since July.

I think it's about right for all positions to be cemented.

The length I believe is irrelevant, at least it can be made to feel longer or shorter quite easily. The structure of public events in the campaign and rules on media coverage could be made far more streamlined and non-partisan to ensure a more exciting and interesting process of debate, cross-examination and scrutiny.

Don't be daft. They didn't know there'd be an election then.

His first speech was like a election speech and he was visiting hospitals in September with the photo ops that came with it.
