Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande's big collaboration Rain On Me takes on DaBaby's ROCKSTAR for the #1 single, can it become the sixth chart topper for both artists? Ellie Goulding's Power is among the new releases, including tracks from Niko B, Aitch, Fredo and Disclosure

On the album chart, it's between The 1975's fourth album Notes On A Conditional Form and KSI's first full-length release Dissimulation for the #1. Other new releases include Gunna's WUNNA, Agust D's D-2, Badly Drawn Boy's Banana Skin Shoes and Carly Rae Jepsen's Dedicated Side B

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday: Some information may be posted on social media but it is likely to be missing most streaming data and is unrepresentative.
- Sunday: Official First Look Chart on Radio 1 from 6-7pm. Please do not post spoilers on the forum in advance as this ruins the countdown for any listeners.
- Monday: OCC Top 100 from 5:45pm
- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. I think it will be a tight race between Rockstar and Rain On Me although I would love for the latter to get it.

I wonder how Katy will fair? Will she stabilise or drop...

I expect the 1975 to get the number one with around 45k-55k sales however KSI and Suga/August(??) could cause an upset (I doubt it due to the amount of physicals The 1975 will sell).

So overall, not just another week and another right race in the singles but also one in the albums too.

Shouldn't #1 be pretty easy with this data? The missing YouTube data will cancel out the missing Spotify and Apple data so ROM should still.be pretty far ahead?

I guess it's safe only it it stays pretty steady on all metrics.

Rockstar will get almost half of its units from Wed-Thu numbers when all the streams are in. ROM will be #1 on midweeks, whenever they appear, but it'll be very close on Friday.
I mean if we were going "steady" mathematics, Rockstar would be only at 45k-ish and we know that it'll do at least 10k more.

Rain On Me (1.5m in 2 days) getting nearly 3x the YouTube streams as Rockstar. Really don't see how it loses the #1 if it holds up decently well. It still has a big sales advantage and is only getting slightly less streams on Spotify and AM

Spotify & Apple Music count for a large majority of the units for the week though - YouTube is weighted much lower as all YT streams are on the ad-funded ratio of 600:1, and sales while being higher weighted than streams are only able to make a difference if streams are very close or if one song has an absolutely enormous lead on sales (like the recent charity #1s). It definitely could be enough to make up the difference if she remains close behind DaBaby on Spotify and Apple all week but it's too early to be confident either way.

We don't actually have an idea of how far behind she is on Apple as well, just that she's at #2.

So Gaga has a combined lead on YouTube of 1,185,000 views if Kworb is to be believed. That’s an absolute minimum of 1,975 extra sales over Rockstar assuming all views are adfunded (which they won’t be)

I would be seriously impressed if Lady Gaga can pull out a No 1 debut with "Rain On Me" especially when her career has had such a rollercoaster ride the last couple of years, and "ROCKSTAR" is still yet to peak in popularity whilst still being No 1.

Daisies is doing well only on Apple, outside the top 100 on Spotify and doing nothing now on iTunes (unlike last week), so don't think she's doing enough to be top 40

Does it seal the #1!? Missing streaming data will mean Rockstar closes the gap, and will only continue to do so. It looks to be a nail-biting finish, with I think Rockstar coming out on top!

Team Gaga has really pulled it out the bag this era. I haven't been this ready for an album of her's since Born This Way. My issue with Gaga has been a mix of her not being able to achieve the impossible of bettering The Fame Monster EP. Also, almost living on the Cardiff gay scene from late 00s to early 10s meant there was a LOT of Gaga exposure and it wound me up for some weird reason. With each album that followed came increased disappointment for me until I reached the point I couldn't even be bothered with Joanne. This time round, I ordered the bleeding Super Set from her website lol!
Maybe she doesn't need RedOne after all.

Seals the deal 1000% in my opinion,
the advantage on Spotify is not that big, maximum 1K per day... so he could cut 3K but not 10K
and thats not counting the fact she's ahead on iTunes and YT, and even if sales are low there, the advantage is big
I don't even think it's gonna be close, seems to me like she'll have a very comfortable lead

and sure yes better have Ariana than RedOne

It's not a done deal but it's certainly reassuring that Gaga is increasing her lead! I think having the audio and video premieres at different times was a strong move as the song will have had two spikes in sales. Also the strength of the video is keeping people coming back for more as it adds another layer to the listening experience imo!

Also good to see the 1975 at #1 - hope it can hold of KSI!

Gaga is quite a bit ahead of where DaBaby was this time last week (DaBaby is also a bit up from the last Tuesday update) - I expect she will tail off a little bit by the end of the week but a 10k lead at this stage is not nothing, think she's probably more likely than not to hang on now!

Gaga's currently 6k ahead of DaBaby on downloads, and has roughly triple the amount of video streams he has. On audio streams, there's a gap of just over 100k streams between them (I don't know how this is split when you take free vs premium ratios into account), which, when they're both approaching 3m streams for this week, doesn't mean that much really.

Basically what's keeping Perfect so close to the top 40 is not audio streams, but video streams (ie Youtube)
The song was #65 on audio streams last week but #24 on video streams
so the missing data is benefitting more the other songs around its position

It's hilarious how some of KSI's fans on twitter assumed that the iTunes album chart made a massive difference and even tried spamming The 1975 and Agust with 1 star reviews thinking it'd help Some of them thought people didn't buy physical records anymore. 15k+ cds with declining streams is gonna be quite a big ask so I'm not sure he can 5SOS it tbh. I love a good chart battle but they way KSI is behaving on Twitter is terrible - saying fans of The 1975 are not even bothering to support the new album just because he’s ahead of them on iTunes?! Maybe if he priced his album at £10.99 like them rather than £4.99 it might give him a more balanced view? Anyway I hope The 1975 keep the top spot.

as I've said a bunch of times, you don't need to worry at all, it's 100% for Gaga and it's not even close
people like to panic but there is no need this time

even now that iTunes sales for Gaga have dropped a lot,
Rockstar is doing 1K per day more than Gaga on streaming not 5k more, so it's totally impossible that he catches up

I'm with Bjork on this one, 'Rockstar' might benefit more from the missing data but 'Rain On Me' will still benefit a significant amount and the gap is probably too big.

'Rockstar' was on 32.9k in the last Wednesday update and finished on 57.4k - 'Rain On Me', based on how it sold yesterday, is currently on track to finish with 56.6k and that's not even factoring in missing data.

Lady Gaga pacing for 50k sales I think. I have revised my initial projection of 35k-40k as I reckon this album will perform exceptionally well on streaming as well as selling a bucket load of physicals and downloads. Plus there seems to be bubbling excitement from the GP for the album too.

25% increase is what's needed to return to SCR after already going to ACR, Dua would only need to increase by any amount to stay on SCR.

^^ no, it's in streaming units. It needs *any* increase to avoid heading to ACR. 25% increase is only for a song already on ACR to return to SCR!

If they disqualified those sales, they would have had to have disqualified all of Dua Lipa's 1st week sales from her store too as all those purchases also gave you entry into a competition.

And a competition on Twitter is how Stormzy got his first top 40. If I remember correctly you could win trainers if you downloaded WickedSkengMan 4.

I'm sure there are plenty of other examples too.

Actions which will be considered a breach of these rules include:
f) procuring the sale and/or consumption of an album in conjunction with a non-related or excessive gift, i.e. which gives the consumer a product, voucher or benefit or anything else which is either unrelated to the album concerned or of a value in excess of the normal retail price of the album without that gift, and where it is not an album and merchandise package as outlined in section 8.0.

8.0. Album & Merchandise Packages
Boxed packages are subject to an increased minimum dealer price against the standard version of an album.
For low value items such as wristbands, badges, patches, key ring, or similar the boxed package will be subject to a minimum 20% uplift above the dealer price of the full price standard album format.
For high value items such as t-shirts or similar the boxed package will be subject to a minimum 80% uplift above the dealer price of the full price standard album format.
Added value items must be packaged with the album and must be clearly related to the artist or artist brand. In the case of non-artist albums merchandise may be label or brand related.
The album and merchandise package must carry a unique barcode to that of the standard (or any other) version of the album.
Tickets for live events and access ‘experiences’ e.g. meet and greet are not eligible to be packaged within Album & Merchandise packages.
