The Renault RS16 was 'launched' but it turns out that it wasn't really at all. The Livery won't be revealed until Australia and the car at Barcelona will look different to the show car which was basically the 2015 Lotus in a new livery.

That's great to hear that 'The Chain' is staying, I don't think there's any song that suits F1 more than it!

There isn't a song at all although Sky Sports F1 viewers may disagree with that with Alastair Griffin's 'Just Drive'.

Manor have replaced Will Stevens for Indonesian driver Rio Haryanto who will be bringing in £10m in sponsorship from Indonesia's state oil company. He did finish fourth in last year's GP2 series and won three races also last week they announced that Pascal Wehrlein will be their other driver for the season.

A possible change in qualifying if the World Council approves of it:

A good idea, I think.

What has been your favourite car that you've seen since the launches?

I'm unconvinced by the qualifying change so far.

I'm completely bias but I'm totally in love with the RS16.

So apparently according to Bernie. The new qualifying format will be delayed until the fifth race of the season for some bizarre reason.

This is all turning very needlessly messy now, reminds me of when they tried to incorporate double points in the final 3 races of the 2014 season, just leave things be!

Qualifying is broken but the way to fix it is to give them more tyres to encourage running. The ability to have unlimited tyres and "free" engines for Friday running would also bring more of the show back to the Grand Prix weekend.

There are better ways to cost save. One would be to give them very durable, ie Michelin, tyres for Friday's so they can do long runs on only a couple of sets of rubber which allows tyre makers to show how good their product is.

Would anyone ever go back to a one-lap format again for qualifying?

No, wasn't a fan of that. One tiny mistake shouldn't cost you 10+ places on the grid. The format they used from 1996-2002 was quite a good one iirc though.

No, me neither that just too slow-paced for me.

I was literally just thinking this, one shot qualifying is the best way imo. The drivers have the whole of free practice to get to grips with the track, I've never been a huge fan of multi lap qualifying sessions!

I kinda miss it. It was so tense and if it started to rain, like in Melbourne 2005, you ended up with a completely mixed up grid and really quick cars battling to the front.

Aus '05 was such a good race. Fisi just cruised to victory but Alonso carving his way through the field from the back of the grid up to 3rd was magnificent to watch.

Looking back now with one lap qualifying, yes it was a bit slow-paced. But it make for some mixed-up grids e.g. Australia 2005 and Japan 2005 when Raikkonen won from 18th on the grid. Also enjoyed Spa 2004 qualifying. Although I do remember that farcical pre-qualifying in Britain 2004 when some drivers drove the straight in slow-motion because of the threat of rain.

Another highlight was seeing Minardi get provisional pole with Jos Verstappen in France 2003 because of rain.

Precisely why I love it so much. In unpredictable conditions (i.e, weather changing throughout the session) it can throw a spanner in the works and make the race more interesting, and in stable conditions it really shows how the drivers perform under the added pressure of trying to get the quickest lap with just one chance! The race hen shows each drivers' abilitly under multiple laps with more room for error. Plus it helps to reduce costs by using less fuel and rubber!

And it creates situations like the Trulli train whereby a slower car is excellent at one lap and then bunches the field up during the race and forces overtaking moves by the faster cars.

The races were more exciting.
