Amazing! wub.gif

This era has broken all boundaries for the girls. I feel like it's actually "cool" to listen to them and they've opened up their fanbase a bit more. They've had various articles on LadBible etc.. all to great responses too! Usually you'll see the top comments flooded with "Ugh. LadBible used to be so fun, now we get this shit" or whatever, but they've seemed to embrace Little Mix that little bit extra.

Talent wins.

Spotify UK

13. Power
84. No More Sad Songs
89. Touch
96. Shout Out To My Ex

the fact that all of the singles from the GD era are in the top 100 on Spotify is amazing!

Posted by: pippa 17th July 2017, 01:38 PM

With all the singles doing well i, if honest, would have hoped the album would be on slightly higher sales. The album has performed very well but if the album was outselling Get Weird with ease it would indicate the girls are growing and developing their fanbase. The fact is probably on par to achieve the same overall sales may possibly indicate they have peaked and the next album may sell less.

That said, if they release an absolute banger of a lead single for the next album, everything i said above could be just rubbish happy.gif

Posted by: Joe. 17th July 2017, 02:26 PM

The issue with the album sales is that they haven't done any promo since the Brits. If there Power performance on BGT had gone ahead as planned their album would have probably had a huge spike in sales for a couple of months.

Posted by: shindymindy 17th July 2017, 03:44 PM

I think the album is doing better at this stage than Get Weird

Posted by: pippa 17th July 2017, 03:45 PM

I take that point ob board Joe, its a valid comment. When i look at it from the level of promotion they have done it would detract from sales. As you said, if they were in the Country promoting the sales would have benefited on a greater level.

I do believe the album has a minimum of 100,000 sales to achieve in the coming months. A fifth single, or re-release could speed this up greatly and possibly attract even higher sales.

I couldn't see a tour thread so I will discuss it here! OMG, it was incredible! Their vocals slayed, their dancing was on point, the atmosphere was unreal. It was utterly incredible!

I would love to see them again!

I am just gutted they didn't perform Cannonball and they called Wings their first ever single

Ella Eyre was awful, Sheppard were decent

WW sales: Glory Days - 8,000 (875,000 total)

Anyone else think Glory Days will spend a whole year in the top 20?
They have the tour to drum up more sales.

Glory days indeed

Been reported by a Brazilian account that Little Mix have been in studio today working with Phil Plested who wrote Touch for new material for their 5th album. Reports also suggest that the girls have also worked with Iain James, who wrote Shout Out To My Ex, Hair and Mr Loverboy, RAYE and possibly MNEK.

https://twitter.com/BrasilLM/status/897517266065129472

Wonder if this suggests they are going to go musically in the same direction as Glory Days? I would love to hear more floor thrillers and happy songs that made the album stand out although I wouldn't mind also if they went a tad more urban. I'm hyped anyway! cheer.gif

Posted by: Saenerys 15th August 2017, 08:06 PM

Didn't MNEK work on a track for Salute? I'm probably wrong with my memory! laugh.gif

It's so unlikely they'd ever go back to the DNA sound but if they can continue the progression from Get Weird to Glory Days onto the next album, I can see myself getting behind them again.

Posted by: Matt_1989 15th August 2017, 08:06 PM

Jade got a special delivery while they were in the studio- from McVities! Part of me is excited to hear new music from the girls, but part of me is worried that they may be releasing LM5 while still touring Glory Days

Realistically they wouldn't be able to get an album recorded in that short amount of space that meets the demands of the label. They had a very clear vision of how they wanted Salute to turn out and that still took a good five months. On that assumption it took five months this time, they'd be finished by January and they did say at the 2015 Brits (February) they'd decided the lead for the next campaign. So before I ramble on any further, I think they'll start their next album campaign next April/May time with a decent summer build up to an album release end of Q3 or very early Q4 latest.

He worked on a certain song of theirs called 'Touch'.

I hope this album won't sound so obviously rushed and hurriedly put together like Glory Days if it's sooner than we think.

One of the album writers also received a plaque today for over 1 million sales of Glory days so that must be with streams.

The above is pure sales.

Little Mix say we can expect to hear new music from them very soon

The group are working hard on the follow-up to their hugely successful Glory Days album.

We're not sure where Little Mix have found the time, but they've assured us that more new music is on its way very soon.

Between releasing four albums in five years and their non-stop touring across the world (their 37-date UK arena tour kicks off next month), Jesy, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne have been back in the studio working on the follow-up to last year's chart-topping Glory Days album.

Asked when we can expect the follow-up during an interview at the iHeart Music Festival in Las Vegas earlier this week, Jesy said: "Very soon my friend, very soon."

"We like to tease, we like to say soon. I feel really bad when we say that." Perrie added, while Jade said: "Soon means we can't tell you because we'll get told off by our label."

It's safe to say we can expect something sooner rather than later, right?

Glory Days has been Little Mix's most successful album yet on the Official Chart, and holds the record for the longest reigning Number 1 album for a girl group in the UK since the Spice Girls' debut in 1996. To date, it's notched up 675,000 combined sales.

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they had exactly the same release strategy of 'surprise' premiering the lead single on The X Factor...

This week's edition of Music Week announces that Glory Days: The Platinum Edition will be released November 24th, featuring three new tracks, 'Reggaeton Lento', and their Kid Ink, Machine Gun Kelly and Stormzy collabs.

Posted by: BigMixer 2nd October 2017, 09:16 AM

A re-release!! Hopefully we won't get only 1 single.

Will the single mixes replace the album versions of "Power", "No More Sad Songs" and whatever Kid Ink features on? Because if not there'll be 19 tracks on the standard edition of this re-release, a bit too many for an overall average album.

Pretty sure they'll treat the next one as the lead...

YASSS

I see them on November 19th so hopefully that means we'll hear some new material. Kinda hoping this won't feel like overload to the general public, that's only 6 weeks away and Reggaeton Lento is still top 5 and not showing signs of dying off yet.

Posted by: Jonjo 2nd October 2017, 01:54 PM

Yeah, I'm confused as to whether the 3 new songs are just the 3 remixes, or whether they're actual new songs. I imagine it's the latter.

Very excited anyway! Can't WAIT to see the BTS documentary wub.gif They're really serving the goods this era!

Official Charts posted that it was a US-only remix of "Touch" so I bloody hope it doesn't replace the original! Not that bothered about the other two as I don't really listen to the original of "Power" or any version of "No More Sad Songs" anyway x

I'd be surprised if they replaced the originals of Touch, NMSS and Power, it'll be more like Sia's This Is Acting re-issue with the solo version of Cheap Thrills left as it is, and the Sean Paul version added later.

Very hyped for this anyway, always suspected we'd get a re-issue and this could lead to some great Xmas sales again!

Wonderful news. This is a first for them (Re-releasing).

If they add 3 brand new songs in addition to remixes and the single version of songs the album could become their first million seller.

I assume Reggaetón Lento will get added to the album too.

I am excited as this era now has even greater potential.

If that's the case then they should honestly just stop pushing Reggaeton Lento in countries where it's underperforming, even if they manage to get it up there'll be a new single just coming out! SOTME gets lots of unfair criticism imo, there was a time I wasn't too keen on it but it's an anthemic pop track and possibly their best lead single! I'd love this new single to be another 'statement'.

Posted by: Karl. 7th October 2017, 04:07 PM

If there's another single coming out then why the hell are they still pushing Reggaeton Lento in Europe (and Oceania now too, it looks like) aaand in the US too? I'm so confused.

October 28th is probably the earliest date we can expect the new single, so that's 3 weeks from now. Plenty of time left for RL to keep going until the new single takes over.

No.

It’ll be tracklisting, details of the new single, pre order bundles, X factor performance details etc.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 8th October 2017, 07:04 AM

I'm not actually crazy about that artwork... but I think that's mainly because of the text placement. The image is very busy, so the logo encroaching on the palm trees / 'The Platinum Edition' going across their legs, I feel it makes it look messy. Also, the girls look slightly "cut and paste", for instance Perrie's arm seems like it'd be digging into Jesy's side. Perrie & Jade look quite windswept, but Jesy/Leigh-Anne don't.

They do look gorgeous though, and I like the colour palette. With some tweaks, it could be a great cover. If the image without text will be shared, hopefully some fans will work their magic and create something that looks better!

Posted by: DiamondHeart 10th October 2017, 12:18 PM

Most excited for the next single, hopefully this will push NMSS to become Platinum and give GD a 3x Platinum certification

Posted by: White Mustang 10th October 2017, 12:21 PM

I would have said this had a chance of returning the album to #1, but it's against Noel Gallagher, so no chance. A would not rule out a top 3 return though.

Posted by: Jonjo 10th October 2017, 10:32 PM

Posted by: Sonia Fowler 17th October 2017, 02:21 PM

Touch remix aside I am excited

Posted by: Cameron 17th October 2017, 02:21 PM

Well I won't be listening to that awful Kid Ink remix. There are enough collabs on it already!

Posted by: liamk97 17th October 2017, 03:41 PM

I adore 'F.U.' but it now feels very out of place; should be after 'No More Sad Songs'. I agree that it was unnecessary to have the Kid Ink remix replace the original 'Touch'. 'No More Sad Songs' and 'Power' I can understand, but was the Kid Ink version even well received by anyone?

Posted by: Hadji 17th October 2017, 03:52 PM

They could have kept the originals of “Touch”, “No More Sad Songs” and “Power”. Also, I wonder if any of the three bonus songs will be made into a single?

Posted by: White Mustang 17th October 2017, 04:04 PM

Well, it's logic to include the Power and NMSS remixes...It'd be weird not to include them really.

Posted by: CardiiB 17th October 2017, 04:14 PM

Kinda strange how they slightly re-ordered the original tracks on the album, they put all the singles at the start but kept FU Infromt on a couple...

They could have at least kept the solo version of “Touch” as it’s the single version and the Kid Ink version is just a remix

Posted by: Jonjo 17th October 2017, 05:33 PM

This is annoying. They could've done 1 of 2 things:

1- Kept the tracklist order (insert 'Reggaetón Lento' after 'Touch' though) replacing the originals (bar 'Touch') with the remixed singles.

2- Done a Sia (again having RL follow Touch) and not changed the tracklist at all and added the remixes on with the new tracks at the very end of the album!

I don't understand the logic behind replacing the original of one of their signature hits with a remix literally NO ONE is there for. It's really baffling. Really excited for the new tracks though! wub.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 17th October 2017, 05:36 PM

I also don't like that Power and NMSS have been moved in between the run of 'F.U.', 'Oops' and 'You Gotta Not' which are all similar sonically. I'd have preferred those three next to each other somewhere. Maybe move them to before 'Private Show'?

But hey. I'm still gonna be buying it lmao

Basically this! I was so disappointed to see that they've basically erased the original version of "Touch", the remix wasn't a hit anywhere and it's not as if Kid Ink is a big name... :/ Hopefully they change it to the original if enough people complain sleep.gif

That sounds catchy!

Posted by: Joe. 26th October 2017, 11:34 PM

It sounds perfect for the radio so I find it odd that they’re not announcing it as a single?

Posted by: Defaze 27th October 2017, 09:05 AM

Oo, I wasn't expecting much when the additional tracks were announced, but I'm loving the sound of this! I agree that it sounds single worthy, but perhaps they're giving Reggaeton Lento a bit more breathing space before giving it the single treatment? Does seem odd not to capitalise on the initial hype though.

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2017, 04:00 PM

Is Your Love Enough, is strong enough to be a single to promote the new edition of the album. A new single would have a huge effect of the sales i believe.

Posted by: Joe. 30th October 2017, 04:09 PM

Tik Tok girls if there's a new single!

Posted by: Jonjo 2nd November 2017, 02:23 PM

They have said that they're glad that everyone is loving 'Is Your Love Enough' and that we will be hearing the full thing very soon...

Think they're gonna do the whole premiere on XF thing again next week?

I have a feeling it’ll be out next week with an XF performance yes!

Posted by: Joe. 5th November 2017, 12:32 PM

So Paloma and Harry Styles are on X Factor next week and I hear it’s Taylor and Clean Bandit the week after, so I can’t see them releasing ‘Is Your Love Enough’ before the album. I know it’s only 3 new songs, but the re-release is turning into much less of event than I expected their label to have made of it.

The pre-order is doing quite badly for them, it all feels kind of pointless.

Posted by: Karl. 5th November 2017, 02:38 PM

Honestly I don't care anymore. I mean it's just a re-release. The album already sold 700k (almost) in the UK and it's also close to 2M worldwide in just a year, that's pretty impressive.

I guess they're starting to step back a bit from the public's eye then snatch everyone back next summer.

Posted by: Joe. 5th November 2017, 02:55 PM

It just would have been nice for another Q4 hit, which would have been easily attainable for them with something like Is Your Love Enough.

Just because they aren't performing on The X Factor in the coming weeks doesn't mean they can't release a new single. I wouldn't be surprised if they released it the week before the album, followed by a performance on The X Factor final.

The thing is there's a sponsored post that says; "Pre-order Glory Days: The Platinum edition now and get “Is Your Love Enough” on 24th November!! 💜 xx the girls xx" Which makes me think we won't get it for 3 weeks, but the fact they've previewed so much of it already and are saying things like "it's coming wink.gif" in other posts confuses me?

Another preview of Dear Lover is up on social media.

Posted by: Juliano 13th November 2017, 01:03 AM

Well to me it sounds like it could be another smash, if I Get My Way is as good as these two then i'll be so happy. I must say that Is Your Love Enough does sound stronger though.

Posted by: blacksquare 13th November 2017, 03:24 PM

I don't understand the handling of this... They could easily get another hit leading into the re-release? So where is it?

Posted by: Joe. 14th November 2017, 08:58 AM

It's odd if something doesn't come out on Friday.

Posted by: shindymindy 14th November 2017, 11:20 AM

They must have something planned surely!
This is not like them at all

Posted by: Jonjo 14th November 2017, 02:14 PM

Don't worry guys!

Where I work we're having a lot of people enquiring about the "Little Mix film" or a new album... people know about it, I think they'll get top 3 again with ease!

'If I Get My Way' snippet! ohmy.gif I think this is the one I'm most excited to hear in full out of the three.

Posted by: Juliano 15th November 2017, 04:22 PM

Well all 3 sound amazing. I don't know which I'd like as the single, I'm predicting a surprise performance of one of them anyway.

Posted by: Jonjo 15th November 2017, 06:39 PM

Sounds all over the place for me. Where's the melody? sad.gif

Posted by: Joe. 16th November 2017, 10:20 AM

All three songs sound great, I'm really impressed. All 3 sound better than most of the original album tracks in fact. I'm disappointed nothing got released before hand given how strong they sound. A very low key release.

Posted by: Seinfeld 16th November 2017, 05:23 PM

This re-release feels very 'meh' to me. It just feels pointless and unnecessary tbh. sleep.gif

Posted by: Joe. 16th November 2017, 11:23 PM

The songs sound really good though! They could have made more of it!

Posted by: shindymindy 17th November 2017, 06:15 AM

They could do something next weekend to coincide with the album release?

I suppose they’re going for longevity with sales over the whole Christmas period if a performance on the xfactor final happens.

They can have even better longevity with another hit though, it's not one or the other.

Posted by: Joe. 19th November 2017, 10:40 PM

Hopefully Jade hasn’t her voice by then!

Posted by: Joe. 20th November 2017, 11:35 AM

Actually wondering if this'll return to the top 5 next week?

Sam and Taylor are still selling a lot, Noel will be #1 by a huge margin, Elbow are probably going to do well, Bjork still has a fanbase, Ed Sheeran is performing on X Factor, and this is going out there with no buzz or single to support it.

Posted by: Jonjo 20th November 2017, 12:33 PM

I'm confident it'll do well tbh. Their fanbase is big enough to get at least 40k first week. Bjork about 9k/not much of a threat tbh. I didn't realise Elbow were releasing though and with them on the current John Lewis ad, that'll only help them. sad.gif

But it's being requested a lot at this hmv. So I can see it being a big Christmas purchase, for sure.

Posted by: Joe. 21st November 2017, 12:45 PM

I'm ready for the new songs to leak.

Posted by: pippa 21st November 2017, 04:56 PM

If the platinum editions can return the album to the top 10 it will be a good outcome, while i believe it could make the top 5 my expectations are not huge. That said, i will be disappointed if the re-release doesn't boost overall sales by at least 100,000 to make this their biggest selling album to date.

Posted by: Joe. 23rd November 2017, 10:05 AM

Ready for these tracks to leak today!

Posted by: shindymindy 23rd November 2017, 10:20 AM

Once they perform on the x factor final (still hoping), the album will get a massive boost.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did a medley of either:

all the singles from this era
or
the 3 new songs

Same for me. I really love Dear Lover up until the underwhelming chorus.

Posted by: Jonjo 23rd November 2017, 01:57 PM

All 3 are so good and would be in the top tracks of the album.

For me it goes Is Your Love Enough > If I Get My Way > Dear Lover

The chorus and drop kinda let DL down for me, like Joe said. It's very early noughties R&B/Pop hook just with todays sort of sound and I don't think it works too well.

Loving the other 2 so much though!

Tbf, WW they probably are the biggest release this week. I think the likes of Noel and Elbow are only huge album acts in the UK. Not sure they're that big anywhere else tbh.

4th on New Music Friday for a big artist it’s quire dissapointing. All round it was a pretty bad day on Spotify, but it seems all round it was a bad day for streams. James Arthur only got to 50, too.

It's gonna be the first time both groups have performed together! Big deal, especially as Simon will wanna boost CNCOs fanbase a bit more too, I imagine.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 26th November 2017, 10:37 PM

I have a feeling they might mash up Reaggeton Lento with another song . I think they should start of with Is Your Love Enough and lead in to Reggaeton Lento I feel like those two songs would mash up well together tbh !

Posted by: Jonjo 26th November 2017, 10:51 PM

Yeah, I guess it's not entirely impossible that they could mash the two together! Would be preferable tbh!

Posted by: Juliano 27th November 2017, 01:07 AM

The girls confirmed on twitter they are performing with CNCO.

Posted by: Dexton 27th November 2017, 07:19 AM

The tweet itself seems to hint at something more than just a basic performance, something special, so I would say it's highly likely to be some sort of mashup. Depending on how much time they're given it could be a mashup of up to all four new songs from the Platinum Edition.

"We’re sooo excited we can FINALLY reveal that we are performing on @TheXFactor on next Sunday’s LIVE FINAL with the amazing @CNCOmusic! You don’t wanna miss this one…trust us 😉 we are BUZZING!! 🙌 xx the girls xx"

This did pretty well over the weekend, it's still at #2 with 21.7k. Sam Smith will most likely overtake, but I can see them charting at #3 this week which is pretty great. Noel is VERY frontloaded, so I can see them returning to #1 one of the weeks after XF.

Posted by: shindymindy 27th November 2017, 12:20 PM

What a great result.
This will sell very well next week and then into the Christmas period.

I can see this selling at least 200k easily by Christmas.

Posted by: pippa 27th November 2017, 02:28 PM

It is a fantastic start and much stornger than i anticipated. With the X Factor performance and their all round popularity, i too think 200k through the Christmas period is possible. Should this happen, it will push the album to triple platinum. The question is, has it enough power to move forward and become their first million selling album.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 28th November 2017, 08:10 PM

Dear Lover and If I Get My Way both have growed on me A LOT the past few days really liking them both a lot now . Is Your Love Enough is definitely my favourite of the 3 though I hope they make it a single.

Posted by: shindymindy 29th November 2017, 05:24 PM

Sam Smith sold more than LM and Noel yesterday:

Noel: 4k
LM: 3.3k
Sam: 4.3k

LM will most likely end up at number 3 by Friday which is still great!

Anyone big releasing next week? I can see LM getting the top spot after X Factor (especially if they do 2 songs).

Joe doesn't think Sam will be a threat next week, I beg to differ. He's about to overtake them with no promo this week, so with the same exposure as the girls next week, I imagine he'll be above them. sad.gif but we'll see.

Pete Tong is the big release next week. The first one was a big success so I think this one will be big too, but it all boils down to how big an affect the XF promo has on the acts. P!nk is also performing and I have a feeling she might have the biggest boost tbh.

I agree that they could be one of the biggest benefitters for after Christmas though.

Albums

1 Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Who Built The Moon [71.1k] *
2 Sam Smith - The Thrill Of It All [35.7k] ^
3 Little Mix - Glory Days [33.6k]

An insider has told me they're doing another 7/8 minute performance and it's 2/3 songs from Glory Days. That will give them HUGE sales into Christmas.

Actually the same here, I know it's all nice and well to want them to perform "the next single" but I'd personally love it if they paid tribute to the entire era and in particular gave Power an incredible final-worthy performance which we never got from it.

FINALLY getting the Power TV performance we've been waiting for, and the whole thing was worth it (though, if I'm honest, the vocals were one of the weakest I've heard from them, they REALLY need this upcoming rest).

Dreadful vocals as well...

I thought the vocals were pretty good actually? Not perfect by any means, but 'Power' is an incredibly hard song to perform live. RL was a lot better.

I'm actually glad they opted for their older tracks. It should give the album a nice boost (although it would've helped if Dermot actually mentioned the re-release laugh.gif). IYLE can smash in the new year when the Xmas songs vacate the chart.

I thought they were "dreadful" compared to their usual high standards. Don't get me wrong, they sounded amazing compared to Rak-Su... wink.gif

Posted by: tomwright123 3rd December 2017, 08:50 PM

Leigh Anne's part in power was really a low point for me, she's smashed it in so many live performances, but this was just so anti climatic. Also about 99% sure that Perrie lip synced the high notes in reggaeton

Posted by: Joe. 3rd December 2017, 09:21 PM

I just watched again and REALLY wtf is going on with the camera work? You end up missing half the performance. Fire the person who films from 1000 miles away as soon as they go into the dance break(for the second year in a row)...bizarre

Just watched it 2 times back to back. Another great performance, probably their weakest XF guest performance, but it's still a million times more than anyone else. wub.gif I'm just so in awe of them as performers. Genuinely my fave performers in well over a Decade!

Slay Queens.

Posted by: shindymindy 3rd December 2017, 09:53 PM

Great performance (as usual).

Their vocals weren't the best but they were good enough.

The performing skills they have are the best around though - they give everything. It's always such a moment when they perform.

Posted by: Cameron 4th December 2017, 09:07 AM

The XF performance was incredible I thought vocals were spot on bar mic problems. Obviously there was the usual breathing problems during the ‘I got the’s, during power

Posted by: Seinfeld 4th December 2017, 09:45 AM

The bloody backing track was too loud during the second part of power which was the mic problems. Do you even have ears? Vocals were spot on

Posted by: shindymindy 4th December 2017, 10:51 AM

Vocals were fine. Performance was epic.

They did have technical problems though - you can clearly hear 3 Leigh-Anne's during her part and Jesy's mic was too low for the start of her part.
Let's not start putting the girls down for a fantastic performance. Everything that went wrong was out of their control.

Is there any need for comments like that?! huh.gif

Even if there were "mic problems" at times, Jesy and Leigh's vocals were definitely off throughout. Perrie and Jade were decent but nowhere near their best.

The vocals were not "spot on" but they still put on a great show!

6 in the mids, where it'll likely stay this week. The XF promo hasn't had the same effect for them that Pink's did. Pink's camera man wasn't all over the place though, I'm expecting the fact Little Mix's not being filmed properly cost them some sales.

Very healthy for a re-release. Over 22k. I assume they'll be on around 28k for the end of week. I assume they'll be on around 840k in time for the Christmas chart and should go triple platinum in January.

It's still a major shame Is Your Love Enough isn't being pushed properly as it'd probably be helping their album sales a lot.

Clutching at straws a bit there...

You'd expect Pink to get more of a boost anyway. The fact Little Mix haven't promoted any brand new singles for this re-release is mind boggling to me. I think 'Is Your Love Enough?' would have been #1 if it was released before the album came out.

Posted by: pippa 6th December 2017, 05:09 PM

Pink promoted a big hit and a new single and is rightly benefiting. Also the Little Mix album is a re-release and they didnt perform anything new so its understandable why Pink has a bigger advantage.

I wholeheartedly agree that it is mind boggling why Little Mix didn't perform Is Your Love Enough, as, at the least, it would have become another top 10 hit for them and would have attracted more album sales.

I just genuinely think the performance was terribly shot, you couldn't see half of it and it came off as really messy and didn't show of their skills as performers the way so many of their performances often do. Obviously, I also agree a performance of something new off the album would have helped a lot too.

That said, i would greatly welcome the album selling the millionth copy so they can achieve their first million selling album.

AHHHH. That's incredible news! ohmy.gif

Posted by: tomwright123 30th December 2017, 11:18 PM

"Little Mix are the most successful group with five songs in the list including their 2016 number one Shout Out To My Ex at number 73. The highest of them, at number seventeen, is Touch. Their Glory Days album is the year’s fourth best-seller."

Given this, the fact they were the most streamed UK group and most watched UK VEVO group, the BRITS would be mad not to award them with Best British Group!!

Posted by: Spiceboy 31st December 2017, 12:00 PM

Would be awesome for Little Mix to win best group at the Brits. I can't see it though, pop acts in general don't fare very well in the Best Group category. Take That are the only one I can really think of who have won it?

Not many pop acts even get nominated for British Group. Spice Girls did back in the 90's, One Direction have. Take That have won it. Girls Aloud were nominated. I'm sure JLS got a nomination? Perhaps Sugababes and McFly? Little Mix could be looking at a nomination which would be a real honour, but sadly I can't see them getting it.

I don't understand why they got rid of the different categories; British Pop Act, British Rock Act, British Urban Act...??? Little Mix would be a clear winner for Best Pop Act, although knowing the Brits they do like to choose some weird winners. I mean seriously Kula Shaker over the Spice Girls for breakthrough?? Also Kate Nash and Mika (who I love) over Leona Lewis for British Female and Breakthrough in 2008??

Posted by: caseclosed 17th January 2018, 02:17 AM

I've been over it for a while now, I'd rather they didn't... If I Get My Way is the superior track to me.

Posted by: Joe. 17th January 2018, 12:08 PM

I think if it was going to take off, it's inclusion on Hot Hits Uk and constant airplay on Kiss Fm would have seen it happen, so it's clearly not quite big enough to be a massive hit. So I'd rather they wait now until the big come back in Summer.

Posted by: Juliano 17th January 2018, 05:28 PM

I reckon people will really start properly craving new Little Mix within 2 months. (The longest gap we had in the past 3 years was between Hair and SOTME). May/June/July will be the perfect time to drop a new single - the GP thirst will be real.

Agreed. They need to give the public enough time to miss them, but not too long that they forget them/don't bother with them. Something just before the Summer Hits Tour would be awesome!

Yeh that was also my point, hopefully the label learnt from it too.

Glory Days being 58 copies from triple plat no.gif

Well at least it's guaranteed, the thought that they could ever have a 3x Platinum album didn't seem realistic at one point. cheer.gif

Glory Days is back in the Top 30 in today's midweek update.
The album is moving closer and closer to becoming their first million seller.

'Only You' is actually becoming a really smart move. I feel like it's big enough to be called a hit but not too big that it's gonna over shadow their big, actual comeback.

People are getting more and more thirsty for new Little Mix!

“Glory Days” spends its 86th week in the Top 200 Belgian Albums chart at #82.

It just surpassed “Spice” by the Spice Girls (85 weeks) and is now the 3rd longest charting girl group album of all time in Belgium!

Posted by: pippa 3rd August 2018, 06:18 PM

Remains Top 30 in the UK too this week at number 28.

Posted by: Jonjo 3rd August 2018, 10:27 PM

Outstanding.

That's with a single which is only being bolstered by radio and video play (and it isn't even on the album!). For an act of their nature, that's amazing.

People want more Little Mix and it makes me so happy to see! wub.gif

Glory Days has sold 106,896 in 2018, and 70,000+ of that is from streaming units alone. It probably goes without saying that the continued presence of Glory Days in the albums chart is mostly thanks to streaming and that's been the case for quite a while now. It's typically achieving around 75% to 80% of its sales from streams, over the past few months.

Here's a smattering of information to demonstrate the strength of their streaming compared to pure sales:

s = streaming, p = physical, d = downloads

27/04/2018 - #30 - 2,657 sales [2,074 s | 484 p | 98 d]
25/05/2018 - #36 - 2,292 sales [1,834 s | 350 p | 108 d]
22/06/2018 - #52 - 2,052 sales [1,629 s | 339 p | 84 d]
27/07/2018 - #25 - 2,418 sales [1,857 s | 368 p | 193 d]

9,419 sales accumulated over these 4 particular weeks: 7,394 comes from streaming.

It's not far off a million combined sales now (983,838). It would be interesting to know the split between the three forms of sales consumption. I wouldn't be too surprised if it's at least 300,000+ from streaming.

This is no criticism of Little Mix, but to the Official Charts - I can't help but think it's a bit ridiculous to consider the amount of streaming they've managed is equivalent to hundreds of thousands of actual sales. A vast amount of those streams won't necessarily have been the listener intending to consume their music as an album, just a few particular tracks off it, yet the accumulation of many people doing this is being counted as album sales. Ed Sheeran's Divide sales from streaming alone must be absurdly high.

I just feel like Glory Days' presence this high up the chart has long since verged into the "by default" stage, because they're consistently achieving around 1,700 to 2,000 streaming units a week. It only takes 1,800+ to crack the Top 40. It's more than likely it'll be around for months to come.

When you consider on the 27th July that Glory Days sold 561 pure sales and placed at #25 with 1,857 of streaming added in, while Kylie's Golden sold 992 pure sales and wound up being #74 due to only 223 streaming units, it certainly makes me ponder whether album streaming is way too dominant nowadays.

Posted by: Jonjo 4th August 2018, 11:49 AM

It's just that streaming is such a huge force right now. I think they need to balance it better in regards to the albums chart though. But eh, that's for a topic in the chart forum laugh.gif it's frustrating though.

Posted by: Spiceboy 6th August 2018, 12:14 PM

Streaming really pisses me off, it's completely ruined the charts tbh, all these supposed million selling singles and albums that actually do not match 'real' million selling singles and albums impact at the time...

When you buy an album it's one sale. I have played my favourite albums thousands of times but it's still only one sale. Streaming should be the same. I accept that people pay to use the service so it should be reflected, but one play of an album should be one sale and then no matter how many times you play it after that it's not anymore sales just like a physical CD, just like a download...

It's 2018. Things change. People just don't consume music like they used to.

Bands that sold well (a certain girl-band comes to mind) in the past would have likely done well with streaming - and vice versa. The current ratio isn't perfect but it's far better than a sales-only chart which doesn't represent popularity at all.

Posted by: Jonjo 6th August 2018, 05:28 PM

Omg. Please stop getting defensive. Goodness me.

I've agreed with Jay, I'm not a fan of the ratio thing, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it. However, to discredit Little Mix and their popularity coz their physical sales don't match up to what happened in the 90's is ridiculous. The comparisons need to stop. Sales wise at least. People consume things differently now. People don't need to "rush out and buy a copy before they sell out" and panic buy anymore.

Imo, Little Mix (you might say I'm just being a blind stan or whatever, but tbh idc) are the closest we've been to Spice Girls/All Saints since them. Definitely culturally at least.

Spiceboy, you needn't fret or worry, your girls legacy is still in tact. Times have just moved on. We consume music differently now and it's a lot more convenient and easy for us. How the OCC measures those to get a chart, that's up to them,. Had CDs been the only option to purchase music now, you don't think Little Mix would have sold more physical copies than they currently have?

All of this.

Little Mix would have succeeded in any other sales climate, and they're clearly the closest thing to the Spice Girls we've had. That doesn't diminish their legacy at all.

Posted by: Joe. 6th August 2018, 09:49 PM

Pop nostalgia fan upset by Spotty Fry shocker.

Spice Girls legacy will never, ever be beat. But if Spotify was around in the 90s and part of the chart Spice Girls would have sold less CDs and had more streams instead and that’s just how it is!

Posted by: Spiceboy 6th August 2018, 10:51 PM

I'm not getting annoyed in my reply at all (although I guessed saying it pisses me off would give that impression lol laugh.gif ).

It also has absolutely nothing to do with Spice Girls whatsoever as they are still the biggest selling girl band without spotify so if anything it just proves how huge they actually were that they continue to out perform in this day on their past achievements. Their impact is totally irrelevant to streaming of all other artists that annoys me.

It annoys me that there are so many 'million selling' singles that I don't believe have had the same impact as million sellers of the past and have got there due to repeated plays of a track which is what everyone did in the past anyway simply with a CD yet all those plays never counted before. Songs like Symphony, Unforgettable, Dancing on my own, Hymn for the weekend, Pillowtalk... and so many more are supposed to be on the same level of achievement as songs such as Believe, Karma chameleon, I wanna hold your hand, Unchained melody, Dancing queen, Wannabe. Being a million seller is no longer anything special for just the few songs that really made that huge major break through.

I have nothing against streaming itself I just don't understand why it counts as more than one sale when a CD sale doesn't count more than once and a download doesn't count more than once...

Also I actually love Little Mix I think they are fantastic, they have some great songs and all four of them are so talented, I actually saw them live this year and came away raving about them they were brilliant. I truly wish them all the success in the world they've been together for ages and are obviously dedicated to their band (far more than Spice Girls ever were!) I am also a massive Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Bananarama and Supremes fan, and also really like Atomic Kitten, a few Saturdays tracks, All Saints and The Bangles. So being a Spice Girls obsessive has nothing to do with it at all before people try to paint that picture of me.

I get what you're saying but it's all very relative to time and era. What about songs like La La La, We Are Young, Party Rock Anthem, Chasing Cars, Counting Stars and Grenade which don't feel anywhere near as iconic as the ones you mentioned but are million sellers without streaming. And then there's songs like Shape Of You, Despacito and Sorry which were arguably as massively popular as the ones you mentioned (not as iconic yet as they're too new) but have all sold under a million in actual sales. I think the way music is consumed is changing so much that it's becoming impossible to directly compare some of the stats. Black Magic is currently on just under 600k pure sales, but I feel as though if it were released in 2011 rather than 2015 before pure sales started to collapse, it would certainly have been closing in on a million by now.

This is exactly it.

Sales were pretty poor around the time downloads first started taking off and physical singles were on the way out. But there were still some massive hits. It's all relative.

Posted by: Spiceboy 7th August 2018, 03:27 PM

It’s not relative though at all. The others count for one sale these count for numerous sales depending how many times you play it.

Yes it is.

People consume music differently now, and will no doubt consume it differently in a decade. You can't really compare them.

Things change, but a hit is a hit. Their sales just reflect the era they were released.

Posted by: Spiceboy 7th August 2018, 05:59 PM

Yes it reflects a difference in consuming music that’s fair enough but it is not relative to the past way of consuming music at all. I agree again that a hit is a hit but it’s ridiculous to compare an album that sold 100,000 on cd sales alone which actually had to sell more since one sale only counts for one to an album selling 100,000 now which actually is due to 80,000 streams many of which are by the same person... if it were relative it would only ever be one sale not more.

Anyway that’s the last I’m posting I think Little Mix are fabulous and I apologise for taking attention away from them.

You do realise per account only so many streams count, right? Isn't it meant to be 1 sale for every so many streams and only so many of those streams can be counted per account?

It's 100 streams = 1 sale. Not sure on what the capped limit is, but I BELIEVE it's actually less than 100 to avoid fanbases "cheating the system" or whatever. I could be wrong though.

Posted by: Juliano 8th August 2018, 07:12 AM

It's 150 streams is one sale on a premium account and 350 streams is a sale on a free account and only 10 streams per person per day count.

Yes, you do realise it's only one sale per every 150 streams? And a single person can only stream 10 times a day because it get's capped, so a single person would have listen to it 10 times a day for roughly 2 weeks to make it into a sale.

Posted by: pippa 8th August 2018, 03:03 PM

I do understand the points about million sellers today do not have the same impact as million sellers once had.
Million selling singles were extremely rare until recently where it happens all the time.
With that said, how we listen to and access music is now so different.
I would argue that a million selling single today does not net the same revenue as a million selling single did in the years gone by.

Posted by: Joe. 8th August 2018, 03:19 PM

I don't think anyone is arguing against that, certifications need to be moved to 300k, 500k and 800k IMO.

Any old flop can go silver now, where as genuine hits from 2002 - 2008 still aren't even silver!

Posted by: pippa 8th August 2018, 03:29 PM

Another point i would agree with.
Songs that no longer make the Top 40 but stay in the 41-100 region are gaining silver status with ease although they don't register as hits.

Posted by: Juliano 8th August 2018, 05:30 PM

Also people have to understand that the world's population is fast increasing and that access to legal music platforms has risen significantly recently, before Spotify many were select buying on iTunes etc and illegally downloading or ripping other songs, this was all during the era where the internet was gaining mega popularity, which is a reason it hit sales bad between 2002-8.

Posted by: Jonjo 8th August 2018, 10:22 PM

2003-2004 really saddens me in regards to songs not reaching their cultural relevance with it's sales. For example, 'Toxic' and 'Everytime' are "only" 400k+ sellers. 'Crazy In Love' by Beyoncé is the same iirc. Sales have never represented the cultural significance of songs imo, so I don't think it matters as much as people believe it does, imo.

Posted by: Juliano 9th August 2018, 03:21 AM

I think sales are just a way for record labels to plug success or see potential in acts, the most important thing for an artist is radio airplay and ticket sales. I'm pretty sure radio stations layout about £200 per radio play.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 9th August 2018, 03:22 AM

Sales were so horrible then! sad.gif

Everytime ended 2004 on sales of 197,000 copies - despite it spending 7 weeks in the Top 10. It grew to 400,000+ as of November 2016.
Toxic had sold 260,000 copies by the end of 2004, and it finally achieved 600,000+ sales as of December 2017.
Crazy in Love has hugely benefited from the digital era. It sold 267,000 physicals, but as of July 2018 its overall sales have swelled to 1,111,000 - thanks to 502,000 streaming units(!) and 342,000 downloads.

It's 100:1 premium & 600:1 ad-funded (and that changes to 200:1 premium and 1200:1 ad-funded when the song goes to ACR).

Posted by: Juliano 9th August 2018, 03:56 AM

That's right they just changed it recently, it used to be 150 then 350 after it goes ACR. They're changing so often I'm losing track lol.

Posted by: Spiceboy 9th August 2018, 12:05 PM

Yes I did realise it had to be a certain amount of plays not one sale per play. It's still reflective of a hit that achieved certain status from selling one copy and that only ever counting once to a song that gets a sale for every 150 times it is played. I'm not against streaming I just think it should be capped at one sale per person (or account) and one account cannot play a song 10 times a day (along with the rest of an acts fanbase) in order to get a song up in the charts. I also don't think that the playlists should be allowed to count, as it's essentially like putting on the radio and listening to whatever the radio deems you should listen to, or a Youtube playlist. They don't count as sales and there are songs getting massive sale influxes due to casual listeners who might not even particularly like that song or even consider playing or listening to that song never mind purchasing it.

I'm not against streaming but I think it is handled wrong and has made a bit of a mockery of the chart.

Posted by: Juliano 9th August 2018, 04:09 PM

Yeh I get that, it's a bit like giving sales to a song on the radio depending on how many people are listening at the time.

Exactly. I do think Spotify and streaming data does have it's place but I just think it has been handled completely wrong in terms of how sales are counted.

Album wise yes, but James Arthur and Alexandra Burke both had million seller singles and Alex came somewhat close to her debut album selling a million.

I did mean winners wise yeah!

I think 1ds debut may have sold more too.

Aside from Leonas debut though it’s definitely the X Factor album to spend most weeks at number one and I think it’s the one to get most weeks top 10 too even beating Spirit.

It’s so impressive that Little Mix did that with their fourth album though.

That’s usually when X Factor acts are on the decline.

I thought it was the biggest other than Leona winners wise I thought it had outsold Alex’s debut album but didn’t know if I underestimated her popularity in 2009-10 when sales were bigger.

But for me Get Weird had the biggest missed opportunities for singles. Releasing Hair and Love Me Like You when Lightning and Love Me or Leave me exist!

Glory Days for me was their best era for single choices I think that’s a large part as to why the album sold so well.

As much as people like to hate Oops, it probably should have been a single, they could have lazily flung it out after Power and it would be far into Platinum right now. tongue.gif

For sure. Radio would have been ALL OVER it. For an album track they already were iirc! I really like 'Oops' tbh. It's so cute and I definitely saw it's potential as a single. I actually think it might've been had they not decided to go for RL and a complete repackage instead. I really wish that they'd pushed 'Is Your Love Enough?' after RL though. They were in a prime position to turn that into a massive hit with minimal promotion.

I think they could've pushed it alongside Touch and have both being smash hits at the time, they had it in them and the public was thirsty for Little Mix at the time.

I thought Oops would've been cute just after the album's release, I don't think it would've harmed any sales of the other singles.

Shoutout To My Ex
Touch
(Album Release)
Oops ft. Charlie Puth
No More Sad Songs
Power ft. Strormzy

Oops would’ve made a great single choice

I prefer it to both Power and No More Sad Songs.

As much as 'Oops' would've smashed (and low-key did off the back of a 1 minute X Factor performance), I'm glad they didn't bother. It would've undoubtedly outsold NMSS, but it would've been a blemish on an otherwise perfect singles run. It's obvious the girls aren't a fan either -- it still makes me laugh that they paid it dust on tour.

Charts at #90 this week!

Also #95 last week, probably boosted by the CTM ads featuring SOTME.

That’s so impressive. 169th week i believe. Around 1k sales then, anything that helps it get to 4x plat laugh.gif

How far are they off?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 15th August 2020, 12:09 AM

I think they are about 100k away from 4x platinum but I think it will get there at some point.

Yeah I think it will too. I think GD will always dip in and out of the charts for a long time.

It's kinda their signature album now.

This absolute behemoth of a classic turned 7 yesterday. Gonna give it a celebratory listen later wub.gif

It's a good era singles-wise, but I still think the album itself is incredibly shoddy. You can really tell it was thrown together in a rush to capitalise on the success they'd had with Get Weird.

Yeah, apart from LM5 & Salute, I really don't rate any of their albums.

I do think if they were to release a studio album in the future, it would be strong considering they've been able to take time with the solo ventures and work with producers outside of the Little Mix camp, which I think stunted them creatively.
