BEST SONG

01. The Fault In Our Stars - Charli XCX - Boom Clap (4 / 2)
02. Big Eyes - Lana Del Rey - Big Eyes (3 / 0)
03. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 - Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat (2 / 4)
04. Begin Again - Adam Levine - Lost Stars (1 / 1)
04. The LEGO Movie - Tegan & Sara & The Lonely Island - Everything Is Awesome (1 / 1)
06. Divergent - Ellie Goulding - Beating Heart (1 / 0)
07. Selma - Common & John Legend - Glory (0 / 2)

Taking the win here is the only nomination/win of the night for the fabulous 'The Fault In Our Stars' which I really got more representation around the other categories, in particular Shailene Woodley in Best Actress, anyhoo Charli XCX's tune 'Boom Clap', a UK top 10 hit, picks up a win here and it is a great track <3 Just behind her is Queen Lana with her stunning titular track from Big Eyes which had 3 big fans but no 2nd preference votes! Following Lana is current Queen Lorde with her 2nd best song which picked up significant support on 2nd preferences votes but not too much on 1st preference votes! Completely the best possible top 3 though, all fab tracks! Lost Stars & Everything Is Awesome are quite good and both pick up a vote each whilst Beating Heart is forgettable af as the Divergent Series gets a rare nomination here instead of at the Razzies, the song only picked up a vote from Resident Ellie stan Harry! And in last place was the actual Oscar winner of this category, 'Glory', a stunning song from Selma but not in my top few here but not near the end of my list either, feel like a few others may have also felt like this which is why it has finished last!

Also 90% of these songs will be competing in Ultimate Movie Song, Semi 1 and 2 are already up so go vote in them, you have a week left!:

Big Eyes deserved to win sad.gif fitted in SO well with the movie and Lana was made to do songs for Tim Burton movies.

Boom Clap is a decent winner tho.

Amy Adams and Sebby to win their categories pls, but I know that won't happen.

PREDICT!:

Best Script:
22 Jump Street
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Gone Girl
Lucy
Neighbors
The Imitation Game
Whiplash
X-Men: Days of Future Past

will reveal after a couple of predictions/people turn up!

Posted by: Regina 8th April 2017, 04:33 PM

Probs Gone Girl (boo) but hope for either of the comic films.

Posted by: Harry♀ 8th April 2017, 04:52 PM

A lot their I want to win Best script but Whiplash, The Imitation Game or Gone Girl please

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 05:03 PM

BEST SCRIPT

01. Gone Girl (6 / 1)
02. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (3 / 2)
03. Whiplash (2 / 1)
04. X-Men: Days of Future Past (1 / 3)
05. The Imitation Game (0 / 3)
06. Lucy (0 / 2)
07. 22 Jump Street & Neighbors (0 / 0)

The award for Best Script goes to Gillian Flynn for her adaptation of her novel Gone Girl! It is a fantastic script full of twists & turns and I highly recommend you check it out! Into 2nd we have Captain America which got quite a few votes but not enough to catch Gone Girl which scored half of the top preference votes! CA: TWS is heavily loved on here so could it pick up something later?! Same with X-Men: DOFP which scored quite a few 2nd preference votes but not many 1st preferences to get it higher than 4th. In between the two superhero movies is the fantastic script for Whiplash, a script written by Damien Chazelle who picked up this award two years later here for 10 Cloverfield Lane! 5th place is the Oscar-winning script for The Imitation Game while twisty sci-fi thriller Lucy also picked up a few fans for its script! Great comedies 22 Jump Street & Neighbors had great scripts but not top 2 worthy for anyone as there was better here so they both picked up no first or second preference votes in their only nominations!

Off to animation next! y'all know the drill, predict!

Best Animated Film:
How To Train Your Dragon 2
Mr Peabody & Sherman
The Book of Life
The Lego Movie
The Penguins of Madagascar

Best Voice Performance:
How To Train Your Dragon 2 - Cate Blanchett
The Book of Life - Zoe Saldana
The Lego Movie - Chris Pratt
The Lego Movie - Elizabeth Banks
The Lego Movie - Will Arnett

Posted by: Regina 8th April 2017, 05:07 PM

Lego and ELizabeth to slay pls

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 05:15 PM

BEST VOICE PERFORMANCE

01. The LEGO Movie - Will Arnett (3 / 1)
02. The LEGO Movie - Chris Pratt (2 / 4)
03. How To Train Your Dragon 2 - Cate Blanchett (2 / 2)
03. The LEGO Movie - Elizabeth Banks (2 / 2)
05. The Book Of Life - Zoe Saldana (2 / 0)

Incredibly close battle here and despite this we end up with by far the WORST possible winner out of the options. WD guys. I really didn't like Batman in the highly overrated The LEGO Movie, which is one of the reason's I still haven't checked out the spin-off yet so hopefully that'll surprise me when I get round to it, and I thought Will was the weakest of the voice actors here. Anyway he beats Chris Pratt & Elizabeth Banks which is a shame as I rly liked those two despite not enjoying the film! Chris scored the most 2nd preference votes and all of #2-#4 needed just 1 more first preference vote to secure the win! Cate Blanchett also did pretty well here for her voice role in the HTTYD sequel & Zoe Saldana thankfully picked up a couple of last minute votes but it wasn't enough to stop her coming last sad.gif Zoe was my favourite and The Book Of Life is so so underrated sad.gif </3

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 05:18 PM

BEST ANIMATED FILM

01. The LEGO Movie (6 / 1)
02. How To Train Your Dragon 2 (3 / 3)
03. The Penguins of Madagascar (1 / 3)
04. The Book Of Life (1 / 1)
05. Mr Peabody & Sherman (0 / 1)

No surprise here as The LEGO Movie scores one of the biggest victory margins of the evening as it picked up over half the first preference votes in this category. I didn't particularly like it but I've gone on about that enough times so moving on! HTTYD 2 comes 2nd with a good amount of 1st/2nd preference votes and I thought this one was way better than its predecessor! Though will the 1st one win this award when we do 2010 (Spoiler: probs not considering its competition is Toy Story 3!). The Penguins of Madagascar was a fun but forgettable spin-off entry and does surprisingly well here with a few 2nd preference votes and The Book Of Life deserved WAY more than it got, such a stunning & beautiful film & an underrated gem! Rounding us off is Mr Peabody & Sherman which was a last minute entry to get this category up to 5 films and it makes no impact at all, though I did really enjoy this one!

pretty weak year for animation on the whole tbh!

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 05:19 PM

Will be taking a short break now and then we will continue with director so predicts/hype please! <3

Big Eyes - Tim Burton
Boyhood - Richard Linklater
Gone Girl - David Fincher
Whiplash - Damien Chazelle
Wild - Jean-Marc Vallee

Posted by: Regina 8th April 2017, 05:46 PM

BETTER BE TIM

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 06:16 PM

BEST DIRECTOR

01. Gone Girl - David Fincher (4 / 0)
02. Boyhood - Richard Linklater (3 / 4)
03. Whiplash - Damien Chazelle (3 / 2)
04. Big Eyes - Tim Burton (2 / 1)
05. Wild - Jean Marc-Vallee (0 / 3)

Gone Girl scores its 2nd win of the night as David Fincher picks up the prize in a VERY close director race! Fincher scored four 1st preference votes for his fab direction, which leaves Richard Linklater's 12 years in the making and Damien Chazelle's debut just behind it in silver & bronze position. Linklater picked up four 2nd preference votes but he needed 1 more 1st preference vote to grab the win while Damien will hope to be in contention again this year for La La Land! Finishing up this ranking is Tim Burton's 'Big Eyes' & Wild's Jean Marc-Vallee, can either of their films pick up a win as this night goes on?! Both of them did pretty well here tbh; Big Eyes fans on here see Tim get a few 1st preference votes while Jean Marc-Vallee - who just finished directing HBO's smash-hit mni-series Big Little Lies - picked up a few 2nd preference votes! Tbh this is such a strong line-up & I would've been happy for any of them to have won!

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 06:20 PM

Predict! Hype! Who do you want to win?!

Boyhood - Patricia Arquette
Edge of Tomorrow - Emily Blunt
St Vincent - Naomi Watts
Still Alice - Kristen Stewart
The Imitation Game - Keira Knightley

(I'll continue when more ppl turn up & comment!)

Posted by: Regina 8th April 2017, 06:43 PM

PLEASE not Patricia, Boyhood is so overrated. Naoimi please.

Posted by: Harry♀ 8th April 2017, 06:50 PM

Patrica Please I love her in Boywood

Posted by: J♀sh 8th April 2017, 07:30 PM

These are decent results so far but I've still not seen Gone Girl so I'm clearly missing out big time!

Not the best year for animation really but I absolutely adored Penguins of Madagascar (even more so than the main films!!), I thought it had some great jokes but it was never realistically going to win here so The Lego Movie was the next best choice really. Will Arnett is a very deserving winner though, he helps make the Batman jokes even funnier and I loved his solo film this year!

Keira Knightley to win! (or Emily Blunt, a very inspired choice!)

02. n/a ( / )
03. n/a ( / )
04. St Vincent - Naomi Watts (2 / 1)
05. Still Alice - Kristen Stewart (0 / 5)

Starting the top 5 in our supporting actress countdown is Kristen Stewart who secured her 2nd Buzzjack Oscar nomination for her performance in 'Still Alice', she gives a quiet but fantastic performance and continues to remain underrated af, glad we are at least giving her some attention for her acting on here! <3 Kristen failed to pick up any 1st preference votes but she received half of the second preference votes! Following Kristen is another actress I'm delighted that got nominated here, Naomi Watts for her fantastic performance in St Vincent, one of my favourite films of 2014 and an underrated gem! Naomi is fantastic in it & I am so happy she did pretty well here to get nominated and then get 2 first preference votes! Naomi unfortunately received barely any Awards attention in real life but a shock & deserved SAG nomination raised some hopes at least!

Emily v Keira v Patricia. Who's won?

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 08:47 PM

first half of supporting actor next, some shockers any predicts before I post?!

03. n/a ( / )
04. Big Eyes - Christoph Waltz (1 / 1)
05. Birdman - Edward Norton (0 / 3)
05. Boyhood - Ethan Hawke (0 / 3)

I was expecting both Edward & Ethan to be top 3 before I started counting votes so I am shocked to see them crash out in joint last place with no 1st preference votes between them ohmy.gif Both actors scored Oscar nominations for their performances and received three 2nd preference votes each! Both of them were fantastic, Ethan especially, so I'm glad they repeated their Oscar nominations here! In 4th we have Big Eyes for Christoph Waltz who was fantastic in his role & like the film, should have received more attention with the actual awards here but he manages to score a couple of votes here & puts in a solid performance!

Dan v J.K. v Sebastian. Who's won?

Actress pt. 1 coming up! Any predicts?!

Posted by: J♀sh 8th April 2017, 09:02 PM

Not so sure about Sebastian Stan doing so well here, he is rly attractive but that's not what we were voting for, right? laugh.gif

A bit gutted about Norton & Hawke coming last. Simmons was untouchable this year really but both would have easily won in both other years for me, I was a bit sad that I couldn't give Hawke even a second preference vote sad.gif

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 09:02 PM

BEST ACTRESS

01. n/a ( / )
02. n/a ( / )
03. Wild - Reese Witherspoon (1 / 3)
04. Lucy - Scarlett Johansson (1 / 2)
05. Big Eyes - Amy Adams (1 / 0)

Oops for Amy sad.gif Whilst Big Eyes has yet to win anything, its been midtable in all its Awards so far but Amy struggles to find her footing in this category! This is her 2nd nomination after she nearly won for Arrival this year, & I'm sure she'll score many more nominations as we continue to advance through the years! Anyway Amy is fantastic as ever but I would probably have her in 5th here tbh, such a strong category! Next up is Scar-Jo with her titular role in big-hit 'Lucy', one of my favourite films of recent years & Scarlett kills it, she is so watchable & enjoyable in this and carries the film completely! Into 3rd we have my favourite performance from the ladies in such a strong year, from Reese Witherspoon in Wild who is just fabulous & anchors the film with a powerful and great performance! I'm glad she did well enough here to come top 3! <3

Julianne v Rosamund. Who's won?

Posted by: Regina 8th April 2017, 09:08 PM

FFS.

Sebby was the best thing about CA:WS Josh smoke.gif he manages to convey a ton of emotion with just his eyes and makes a sympathetic character even though he
rarely speaks.

05. The Maze Runner - Dylan O'Brien (1 / 1)
06. Unbroken - Jack O'Connell (1 / 0)
07. Boyhood - Ellar Coltrane (0 / 2)

In the biggest category, its all the younger actors that crash out first! First up is Boyhood which really isn't having a great evening, can Patricia score it a win later or will it go home empty-handed? Anyway Ellar Coltrane was the only actor to not score a first preference vote but he still got a couple of 2nd preference votes for a performance that he played for 12 years! Next up is Jack O'Connell who shocked me to get a nomination but I am so glad, he was so fantastic in the underrated Unbroken and his performance was so overlooked, he is a fantastic actor & I hope he gets another Oscar-ry role in a few years! Cracking the all important top 5 was another shocker for me, Dylan O'Brien for YA franchise The Maze Runner in which once again he is fantastic & gives an incredible performance! <3 Whilst into 4th we have another Sam favourite, Miles Teller, for his lead role in 'Whiplash' in which he is fantastic and works perfectly alongside J.K. Simmons music teacher. Miles really should've got more attention over Awards season for his performance!

Ben v Chris v Eddie. Who's won?

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

01. Edge Of Tomorrow - Emily Blunt (4 / 1)
02. The Imitation Game - Keira Knightly (3 / 2)
03. Boyhood - Patricia Arquette (3 / 1)
04. St Vincent - Naomi Watts (2 / 1)
05. Still Alice - Kristen Stewart (0 / 5)

So one category down and we already have a shock winner ohmy.gif WD Emily <3 Such a surprise & well deserved win, I was not expecting to enjoy Edge of Tomorrow at all when I saw it but it took me completely by surprise and Emily was the highlight in it! She was utterly fabulous & is possibly my favourite performance of hers yet ohmy.gif Emily received 4 first preference votes to win here!

So this means just missing out are Oscar nominee Keira Knightly & Oscar winner Patricia Arquette, both actresses getting three 1st preference votes but Keira gets 2nd place due to more 2nd preference votes! Two more great performances, this category is so strong!

I've never particularly warmed to The Winter Soldier. I can only speak for myself but he's always come across as a bit of a dick character and I don't think Seb does a job that some other actors couldn't do with the role.

Emily Blunt is a GREAT choice there, would never have predicted her to win but she has so many great performances but I always forgot to mention her in that, she totally stole the show from Tom Cruise too! Yay at Keira Knightley picking up a fair few votes too, I was low-key expecting her to come last laugh.gif I love her and think she did a great job in that film but she's not the most diverse actress, bless laugh.gif

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

01. Whiplash - J.K. Simmons (5 / 1)
02. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Sebastian Stan (3 / 2)
03. The Guest - Dan Stevens (3 / 0)
04. Big Eyes - Christoph Waltz (1 / 1)
05. Birdman - Edward Norton (0 / 3)
05. Boyhood - Ethan Hawke (0 / 3)

No surprise here! Despite not even being in the original nominations (I accidentally put Miles Teller in both categories), J.K. Simmons still manages to easily repeat his real life Oscar win here for his terrifyingly great role as the teacher in Whiplash! There was a reason for why he dominated the Awards Circuit the entire season & I'm glad he repeated it here with 5 first preference votes!

So that leaves Sebastian Stan in 2nd & Dan Stevens in 3rd, two actors who I don't really think got anywhere near the official Awards season! Sebby has a pretty big fanbase on Buzzjack and this sees him pick up 5 votes in total, alas the same with Dan having quite a lot of fans on here which see him pick up 3 first preference votes for his role in horror-thriller 'The Guest'! Both performances were really good!

Posted by: J♀sh 8th April 2017, 09:37 PM

Quick rank of Emily Blunt performances for the funz

01 The Girl on the Train
02 The Devil Wears Prada
03 Into the Woods
04 Edge of Tomorrow
05 Sicario

Can't believe she still has NO OScar nominations, she'd comfortably have two or three by now if it was up to me.

BEST ACTRESS

01. Gone Girl - Rosamund Pike (5 / 3)
02. Still Alice - Julianne Moore (4 / 3)
03. Wild - Reese Witherspoon (1 / 3)
04. Lucy - Scarlett Johansson (1 / 2)
05. Big Eyes - Amy Adams (1 / 0)

ANOTHER win for Gone Girl here! ohmy.gif How far can it go! Anyway Rosamund very narrowly beats Julianne in probably the most competitive acting category of them all! Rosamund was actually miles ahead at the start but Julianne started to make a comeback though Rosamund always managed to hold onto her lead till the end! The two actresses got 15 out of the 23 first/second preference votes! Rosamund was utterly fabulous in 'Gone Girl' and pulled off her character so well as the 'amazing' Amy <3 She really commanded the film and that scene in particular (y'all know what one I mean) was just incredible acting, she completely slayed!

Though Julianne was also as good as Rosamund and FINALLY won a way overdue Oscar for her performance as a woman suffering from dementia in the powerful 'Still Alice'. Julianne deservedly dominated the Awards Circuit all year long and this performance epitimizes why she is so good, a powerful and incredible performance! Julianne picked up four 1st preference votes here! <3

Posted by: Ultra💚🚦🐱 8th April 2017, 09:39 PM

Just actor & picture left! Will Chris Pratt go a step further than Sebby? Will Ben continue the Gone Girl domination? Or will Eddie make it an 100% win rate for Theory of Everything?

Posted by: Harry♀ 8th April 2017, 09:42 PM

Great winner for best supporting actor and Best actress wub.gif Both highly deserving!

BEST ACTOR

01. Gone Girl - Ben Affleck (4 / 1)
02. The Theory of Everything - Eddie Redmayne (3 / 2)
03. Guardians of the Galaxy - Chris Pratt (2 / 3)
04. Whiplash - Miles Teller (1 / 2)
05. The Maze Runner - Dylan O'Brien (1 / 1)
06. Unbroken - Jack O'Connell (1 / 0)
07. Boyhood - Ellar Coltrane (0 / 2)

Penultimate category. Another win for Gone Girl! Will it take Best Picture to become one of the very rare film to win ALL of the BIG FIVE?!

Ben was fantastic in Gone Girl and I'm really glad he won here! He deserved more attention during Oscar season & he really portrayed his character perfectly. So well deserved & Ben scored four 1st preference votes to win! <3 Just behind him was actual Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne for TTOE, his 2nd nomination without a win here. He is really good in the film but I'm genuinely not sure I would have him in my top 5 for that year ohmy.gif I think the only Eddie performance I would have actually nominated him for an Oscar for was Les Miserables!! In 3rd place is Chris Pratt who put up a fight for his role in the superhero epic and scored 5 votes overall! Chris is fantastic & I am so hyped for the sequel!!

Lucy flops with 0/0 oops! Still glad it at least made it into the line-up!
The Maze Runner does pretty solid here and rounds off an ok evening for a film which really could have come dead last in the categories it was competing in!
On the other hand Boyhood rounds off a horrific evening with another poor result as the critically acclaimed picture failed to even pick up one first preference vote! So Boyhood wins none of its 5 awards oops.

Posted by: J♀sh 8th April 2017, 10:06 PM

I really quite enjoyed the first Maze Runner movie, it had a really interesting concept and never dragged imo. The second felt a lot more generic with the zombie thing additions so I'm hoping the third (whenever we end up getting it) is a bit better.

He was nearly killed fighting for his country, kindapped, experimented on, brainwashed into beocming a killer against his will and can remember all of the horrible things he's done/ Haunted by all this, even when he was "freed" he was still trapped and his own worst enemy.

Sebastian is a brilliant actor and having seen most of his work I can testify that he's one of the best at making you feel sympathy for his characters and can convey emotion without doing much at all, just a look can say more than he could with a whole page of dialogue.

Continuing on we have a three way-tie between three critically acclaimed films! Whiplash & Wild are two of my ultra faves of the year so I'm really glad they did well here & Still Alice also overperformed here compared to my expectations! All three films picked up one first preference vote!

And in 4th is a little bit of a shocker, I was definitely expecting The Winter Soldier to do better than this considering all the acclaim it gets on the site but it struggles in terms of 1st & 2nd preference votes and Civil War actually did better than it ohmy.gif

BEST PICTURE

01. Gone Girl (4 / 1)
02. Guardians of the Galaxy (3 / 2)
03. X-Men: Days of Future Past (1 / 5)
04. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (1 / 1)
05. Still Alice (1 / 0)
05. Whiplash (1 / 0)
05. Wild (1 / 0)
08. Boyhood (0 / 2)
08. The Maze Runner (0 / 2)
10. Lucy (0 / 0)

And Gone Girl has done it ohmy.gif The film has managed to pick up ALL of the elusive Big Five!!!!! Was definitely not expecting a sweep here when nominations went up due to the tightness in terms of amount of nominations but Gone Girl has done it! Fantastic masterpiece & I'm glad it is getting the appreciation it deserves on Buzzjack <3

Just behind it though with three 1st preference votes is Guardians of the Galaxy, the best superhero film of recent times & I would have been happy with that winning also! Fantastic & actually interesting film and the cast/script/soundtrack were all *.* <3

In 3rd place and doing way better than its successor did is Days of Future Past which may have only picked up one first preference vote but it took a massive five 2nd preference votes proving Buzzjack rly do like their superheroes! ohmy.gif

Glad that all three superhero movies did quite well there, I think I would rank them in that order too! And Still Alice/Whiplash exceeded my expectations too in these results.

Thanks for hosting, Sam!

Really pleased with that set of results. Agree with pretty much all the winners

As much as I ADORE 'Gone Girl', and I do, Ben Affleck didn't deserve to win over Eddie or Chris P, imo. The latter two were definitely a lot stronger were far more memorable performances than Ben. 'Gone Girl' was effectively Rosamund's film for me. She stole the show in every scene! So she was a worthy winner, but both her and Julianne's performances are two of my absolute favourite performances in a LONG time.

In Supporting Actor, I think I put Dan Stevens first, just because I really think his performance is underrated in 'The Guest'! But JK was my second choice, so he is a very deserving winner! Ethan Hawke deserved top 3 though. Yeah, over Sebastian! Thankfully Patricia didn't win here, like I expected her to! Emily is an unexpected winner, I mean she's good, but not really worth winning this one for that film! Keira and Kristen were my standout two in that batch, although it seemed a pretty weak year in general for that category! ohmy.gif I think I forgot to nominate Scarlett for her role as Black Widow in CA:WS. I really think that's the movie that elevated her character to the next level!

Will Arnett completely deserved that award. One of my favourite Batman's! I would've been happy to vote just for him though as that category was also fairly weak by it's usual standards! Can't argue with the top 2 for Best Director and Best Script. Although I think I would've given CA:WS the edge for Script! ohmy.gif So yeah, I am the "1" in 'Gone Girl's 6 / 1 !

Best song. What a dreadfully dire year for movie songs! I literally only liked 'Everything Is Awesome' (and even then, that's only because of the context it's used in, in the film!) The other songs are all mehhhhh to me </3

Thanks for doing this UV. I'm sorry I wasn't here last night!
