For my taste it has happened three times when both an A-side and it's B-side are amongst my favourite 10 tracks by that artist. The winner for me would be New Order - True Faith/1963 Not far behind would be Tori Amos -China/Sugar And thirdly Suede - We Are the Pigs/Killing of a Flashboy. Now clearly we could all name amazing singles with b-sides that were serviceable but the instances of both tracks being amongst their very best material are rate. I'm sure Oasis and The Smiths will be suggested by some and possible The Beatles too. This post has been edited by AntoineTTe: Jun 16 2015, 02:27 PM |

The obvious Oasis one for me is Some Might Say/Acquiesce, both of which are up with their best. Hey Jude/Revolution is the best Beatles combo, especially the latter...
I'll have to think about my favourites but I agree with you that the New Order pairing made a great single. |

Amy Macdonald's Mr Rock & Roll/Somebody New, The Modern's Industry/Closing Door and Shiny Toy Guns You Are The One/I Promise You Walls are among my top singles as far as a-side/b-side combos go

Not indie, but I don't care: Girls Aloud 'The Loving Kind' and 'Memory Of You' - both stunning songs, and I especially love the radio edit to TLK.

The Oasis ones are all obvious and well documented, otherwise:
The Killers - Somebody Told Me / Under The Gun / The Ballad of Michael Valentine The Killers - Bones / Daddy's Eyes Green Day - Basket Case/ Tired of Waiting For You (gorgeous cover ) Green Day - Hitchin' A Ride / Espionage And one from this year where the b-side is as good as the a-side... Lostprophets - Where We Belong/ Sunshine |

I also happen to think that Prince's When Doves Cry b/w 17 Days is absolutely perfect.

I only rate Supersonic, Live Forever and Some Might Say from Oasis and I dont feel that any of the b-sides are up to much - that's just what I think. I was never a huge fan of them anyway.

Pet Shop Boys have loads. For example Rent/I Want a Dog (1987).

Not that indie but...
Michael Jackson - Cry/Shout/Streetwalker Cry is not even close to his best songs but the other two (b-sides) are. |

Instead of true faith I would suggest Blue Monday/The Beach. I know the b-side is essentially an instrumental remix but I love both just as much.
