An inspired title! kink.gif

I'm fairly excited for this... it's been a long time coming. It's a bit mad to think that an album era was meant to happen 3 years ago (What a Man Gotta Do came out in January 2020 and signs pointed to it being the lead single for an album that year). Obviously we know what happened in 2020, but I wouldn't have anticipated them taking this long to finally release an album. I'm curious about whether any of the sessions for the 2020 album are being used, or if they scrapped it and it's more recent work.

Apparently The Album is inspired by music of the 1970s.

By the way, the single is called Wings!

Their announcement coincides with receiving their own Hollywood Walk of Fame star:

new single? Blackpink-esque album title? I'M SOLD

Posted by: Y'all Starlight 31st January 2023, 07:09 AM

Surprised they're releasing tbh. I thought DNCE were releasing a record but i guess Joe can multitask!

Cool so excited

Posted by: spiceboy 1st February 2023, 02:48 PM

I am quite looking forwards to this. I quite enjoyed their last album (Sucker is so so so good) and What's a man gotta do was also epic!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 10th February 2023, 12:07 AM

New single ‘Wings’ is out on February 24th!

Posted by: Jessie Where 10th February 2023, 12:50 AM

'Sucker' has only been a recent grower for me, but I always really liked 'What a Man Gotta Do'.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 23rd February 2023, 08:55 AM

This has been pushed back to May 12th so the vinyl releases on the same day... the tracklist is here though:

1. Miracle
2. Montana Sky
3. Wings
4. Sail Away
5. Americana
6. Celebrate!
7. Waffle House
8. Vacation Eyes
9. Summer in the Hamptons
10. Summer Baby
11. Little Bird
12. Walls (feat. Jon Bellion)

(and 'Wings' is still out tomorrow!)

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 23rd February 2023, 02:53 PM

Ugh, 'Wings' is only 1:58 long!

Clipped wings

Posted by: spiceboy 23rd February 2023, 09:40 PM

Surprised they have not tacked What a man gotta do onto the album for more streams!

Posted by: -Jay- 23rd February 2023, 11:53 PM

A little concerned that the song is that short but hopefully it'll be good regardless!

Crikey, how is that song over 3 years old now…

I always associate it with that time the pandemic was starting to get serious sad.gif

Posted by: Lee_J11 24th February 2023, 08:28 AM

Jesus, Wings is dreadful mellow.gif

Posted by: Mangø 24th February 2023, 11:16 AM

Really? I'm quite liking it. It's ridiculous that it's less than 2 minutes long though, I really hope this trend starts to reverse soon sad.gif

Posted by: Brer 24th February 2023, 03:24 PM

Unless streaming services fundamentally change the way they count / pay for streams, it's not going to.

Posted by: -Jay- 24th February 2023, 04:10 PM

It’s an earworm for sure, but I’m just not sure if I actually like it or not laugh.gif

Posted by: conorw 24th February 2023, 06:28 PM

christ thats short! it ended so soon! not a fan of these super short songs sad.gif shame as its actually catchy!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 25th March 2023, 09:18 AM

The next single, ‘Waffle House’, is out on April 7th.

Posted by: spiceboy 25th March 2023, 10:57 AM

Wings didn't exactly get a push did it? Was there even a music video?

Posted by: spiceboy 25th March 2023, 10:58 AM

Oh there was nobody posted it in here lol!

Posted by: darrens94 25th March 2023, 11:22 AM

I’ve heard ‘Waffle House’ quite a lot on TikTok and it’s definitely catchy and sounds more like a hit compared to ‘Wings’. I’m not sure why it wasn’t released as the lead single.

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 31st March 2023, 11:38 PM

'Waffle House' is addictive af! The clip I keep hearing on Tik Tok is insanely catchy and I think it's going to be a huge hit for them.

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 7th April 2023, 12:48 PM

I can see this being huge. It’s a big Summer/warm weather smash. Omg. I’ll be sick of it in a week but… yeah. I think it *should* be huge.

Posted by: spiceboy 7th April 2023, 05:12 PM

I just checked it out I like very catchy! Not sure it will blow up though

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 9th April 2023, 08:48 AM

Ooh this is much better!

Posted by: Y'all Starlight 14th April 2023, 08:33 PM

Surprisingly "Waffle House" has debuted at #89 this week on the UK Charts

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 14th April 2023, 09:42 PM

It’s all over Tik Tok and has a huge amount of likes etc… so I’m surprised it’s not bigger. Maybe it’ll grow to become a bigger hit but ugh. It’s so much better than the Meghan Trainor Tik Tok singles for me sad.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 15th April 2023, 04:58 PM

It's now entered the Apple Top 200 at #170!

God knows why 'Wings' was the lead single, they didn't even perform it live at their Royal Albert Hall gig the other day...

Posted by: Brer 15th April 2023, 08:56 PM

I actually lowkey really like 'Wings', probably their best song for me tbh. Yes I know I am the only one.

(I heard it at McDonald's last week and I was bopping x)

Posted by: spiceboy 22nd April 2023, 09:33 AM

Has the song risen to #46 on the charts? Good for them if so! (Saw it on Wikipedia but nothing on the sales thread)

Yep!

Posted by: spiceboy 22nd April 2023, 08:39 PM

Nice that they climbed, perhaps could go top 40?

Posted by: -Jay- 29th April 2023, 10:38 AM

I really love Waffle House. I hope it catches on more than it has!

It seems they've got their eye on getting a #1 album in the UK, they've now got some UK exclusive formats on sale and they're cheaper than the standard items:

Music video for Waffle House, filmed in London!

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 29th April 2023, 01:09 PM

it seems like the new promo technique is collab with an influencer, i’ve seen this everywhere with so many influencers

Me too, there's so many TikToks! I wonder how effective that strategy is. There's the slight risk of people getting annoyed with the overexposure of them popping up constantly.

Posted by: spiceboy 29th April 2023, 02:10 PM

The video is cute, leading into their Royal Albert Hall gig.

This song grows on me a bit more each time I hear it, truly love it now! Really hope it rises in the charts for them but if What a man gotta do didn't go top 20 I don't see what else could!?

Posted by: ___∆___ 29th April 2023, 07:01 PM

That London sleeve they’ve released is horrible - it doesn’t even look like a proper photo shot, they just stick them in front of a bus and thought that’ll do laugh.gif

Posted by: -Jay- 30th April 2023, 10:32 AM

Although it seems like a quick photo opportunity rather than a proper photoshoot, I don't actually mind it! I think it serves its purpose as a gimmicky release for the UK with a cheap price tag to boot. The main album cover is certainly more "photoshoot", but I've never been wowed by it, so I'm fine with getting this cheaper alternative version.

Large version of the artwork:

I'm kind of surprised that the shop's name wasn't photoshopped out! Interesting though, means I've been able to identify where exactly they took the photo, it's in Maida Hill: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5238399,-0.2062565,3a,60y,52.69h,90.06t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sw_cZ9VkyNUuCL-ag4x4J6Q!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 - such an unlikely place to find the Jonas Brothers. laugh.gif It's not too far away from: Shepherd's Bush, Westfield London, BBC Maida Vale studios, Abbey Road Studios. I wonder what else they got up to on that day?

I wonder if they'll have any more UK formats still to come? Their mailer teased other bundles that aren't in the shop. Although bizarrely it's Kevin photoshopped three times onto the Waffle House artwork lol:

Posted by: Brer 30th April 2023, 08:19 PM

The lyrics of 'Waffle House' are a little offputting but the actual song sounds pretty good once again, I'm enjoying the sound of this era quite a bit more than their previous material.

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 1st May 2023, 01:15 AM

'Waffle House' is irresistably catchy. I'm really into it atm and the video is infectious and feel good. It really suits being a musical number from a TV show, kinda music video.

Posted by: LiamSime 9th May 2023, 09:03 PM

Waffle House is SUCH a tune. Can’t stop listening to it!

Posted by: spiceboy 10th May 2023, 12:24 PM

It is such an ear worm!

Posted by: -Jay- 17th May 2023, 08:22 AM

Has anyone here listened to the album? I've been waiting for my CD to arrive (it was only processed last night) drama.gif so I haven't yet. Reviews are a bit mixed so far, 63 on Metacritic (only based on 4 reviews, mind you). The criticism I'm seeing in reviews (and on Popjustice) is that it lacks identity. Oh well, I look forward to hearing soon anyway!

A couple of London shows announced (I'm not convinced that the Jonas Brothers realise that there's places outside of London in the UK x)

Posted by: lewistgreen 4th June 2023, 11:51 AM

Summer Baby is the next single

Posted by: spiceboy 4th June 2023, 12:43 PM

Good choice another very catchy song by them! They deserve lots more success.

Posted by: -Jay- 4th June 2023, 11:21 PM

Now why didn't Jonas Brothers have these artworks on CD? These are just "signed digital albums" for the US.

https://i.imgur.com/OBBbPR3.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/hNP4jyx.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/xHejbyT.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/osBLpcM.jpg

Surely these are more appealing than the London Bus artwork and the "three Kevins" artwork formats! If they didn't have the digital signatures on them.

I would snapped up a Nick CD/Cassette cheeseblock.png I feel like these formats would have pushed it up to #2.

Posted by: Yobnedor 4th June 2023, 11:26 PM

This new “digital signed copy” thing is total bull!

Agreed! The "signed" nature of this is is totally meaningless laugh.gif Though it seems to be a tactic that works in the US thinking.gif

TOMORROW X TOGETHER & Jonas Brothers - 'Do It Like That' is out on July 7th!

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 27th August 2023, 12:13 AM

'Vacation Eyes' is GREAT! That really should be the next single.

The performance of it that I've seen through Tik Tok is SOOOO good!
