^^^^ But The Saturdays, as a business actually can't afford to go independantly. They're barely breaking even.

Someone explained on DS that they're actually doing very well. Apparently it takes years for a buisness to make any profit, but The Sats are already breaking even after only 18 months.

They're not exactly your typical business though.

I think people are forgetting that The Saturdays as a brand is actually doing really well.

Miss Selfridge - Sold out Tee's
Fasionista - Nail polish range
Sponsored by - Rimmel & Barry M(Notorious), Ice Wtach(Missing you)
Nintendo - Sponsors of Cats & Dogs ( 2 advert campaigns)

(The above are the ones I can think of..there are loads more promotional/sponsors etc..)

Mechandise sales are probably high.

Remember The Saturday's sell loads of Physical copies through their store which arn't counted towards the chart ( They have at least sold 2.5k copies of the OYR boxset), they produce 1k of signed cd singles which they nearly always sell out of..so all be it little dribs and drabs these will make up for the music video costs at least.

They did loads of festivals last year and an arena tour which they must of made a heafty sum(Even if they didn't fill up the entire venue..I think someone said took takings of almost £3.8million + obviously not sure how this equates to profit..but they arn't doing badly).

Plus They have been tweeting about being inthe studio this week..so there must be plans of new material/remixes).

Their online store sales do count towards the chart.

Yeah, they have Jewellery at Argos, Impulse, Barry M cosmetics, Calendars, Books..
but I guess none of it means anything if they're not making the label any money?
Unless the label takes a cut of the monies earned from the endorsements?

Maybe the girls are paying the label back with their own money?

Polydor/Fasination would never drop The Saturdays. They are one of their biggest artists imo.

The reports regarding how much (or how much they're not) making can't be confirmed nor verrified without official documents which apparently you can buy.

But If the figures I saw the other day are anything to go by, I think it said they had a turn-over of 400k in a year. Can't be sure though.

That's probably true. I mean, they haven't got rid of Sophie Ellis-Bextor yet and that woman is a walking flop! laugh.gif

They did so about a year ago, and she set up her own label. Awkward mellow.gif

Oh they did?... She's still listed under Polydor/Fascination on wiki. But that's wiki for you.

I guess The Saturdays won't last long then. I'm pretty sure the girls are eyeing solo projects too, especially Una and her guitar, although I can't think of any success for any of them.

Sophie left the label, her single sales were also not over 10k as were her album sales!

Oh well, there's a new Saturdays album coming up nontheless, let's just wait and see what happens.
I'm not very hopeful that their career will reach new heights though.

There's a big difference between 'reaching new heights' and 'be dropped soon' though. They're planning a new release, so their immediate future is safe.

Abandon On Your Radar completely, releasing another single and it flopping disastrously would do WAY more damage than has been caused already. Start afresh with something new, although I'm not convinced they'll ever really do any better as they did their best with this era. We'll see though.

I think some of us think too much into this. Do you honestly think Joe Public follows chart positions and sales?
If the song is good, they see it on TV, hear it on radio.. ANYTHING could be a hit. They just need some promotion.
I don't see why they would throw this album away considering some good promotion and radio support could get them another hit.
Did any of us think that Cover Drive could be in with a chance of #1 this week? Capital have played them non-stop and it's worked wonders.

It's amazing yet frustrating how a group like Cover Drive can go to #1 easily with only their second single. laugh.gif

Mind you, I have no doubt The Sats would have got a #1 if they released during a dead week like this.
