UMK 2018 kicks off on 7th November with a press conference at 13:00 CET, hosted by Krista Siegfrids and Finnish Eurovision commentator Mikko Silvennoinen. Finland will be looking to return to the final after 3 consecutive DNQs (although they were robbed with the gorgeous 'Blackbird' this year)

and... hopes for a rock song from the kings foiled again.
Based on No Fear (and I presume what I've heard about her performances from that minor unimportant show she was on in the UK) she should have a decent chance to return Finland to the final though. Interested to see how UMK will work this way though, I expect it won't be essential watching as there's no competition. Not good for finding Finnish gems, good for Finland's chances. |

She is an incredible performer, if she can't get them back to the final not a lot will. I'm a bit gutted she isn't doing it for the UK, but it's always been her dream to represent her home country so far enough. It does kind of feel like she went on our X Factor to relaunch her Finnish career though, and we haven't got so much as an instant grat But as long as this means we get music from her and a chance to see her at Eurovision I'm in <3

Delighted for Saara, I'm so pleased her dream has come true!
Watch the best song in her selection come second now though |

Great for Finland's chances next year, but what AdamAloud said, her best song will probably be voted second UNLESS there's something genius that even deaf grandma's gonna vote for. Interesting that any of the songs is not yet decided

I guess the selection shoe will be like when Lena did the second year for Germany. The rest end up on her album.

Apparently ALL of the songs are yet to be decided, hope she'll get good ones and doesn't choose her own mediocre compositions over good ones.

I hope she ends up with a good song and at the least does well and manages top 10. Loved her on X Factor.

Linnea Deb of course writer for Måns' 'Heroes', Ace Wilder's 'Busy Doin' Nothin' and Margaret's 'Cool Me Down'! |

Saara with the Debs could actually work really well, provided they don't just give her the stuff from their reject pile.

Nobody "pisses" Eurovision, sure she's got a fantastic voice but many fantastic vocalists with weak-ish songs fail to qualify every year.

Exactly, I'm hoping all the songs are killer or knowing Finland they'll choose some track 14 album track filler ballad over a Linnea Deb pop banger

The three songs will be unveiled one at a time over a period of three weeks, on the 9th, 16th and 23rd February (or a couple of hours before each of these dates for the majority of us, as they will apparently be out at midnight Finnish time )
