Taylor Swift has revealed she has written a lot of new songs for her new album which based on her previous album release dates, we should expect to be released in Autumn 2014. 'Red' has been incredibly successful for Taylor which will have produced 8 UK top 40 hits (including 4 top 10 hits) for Taylor if 'The Last Time' goes top 40 this week as expected. I'm so excited to listen to a new album from Taylor and this is what she has said about it:
I've read that recently Taylor has been in the studio with various people including Ryan Tedder, Diane Warren, Max Martin and Johan Shellback!
Expecting a lead single in May.
"Red" was good, but I want more country album. Somelthing like Shania's debut album.
Would she reached 4 millions mark in United States with this album ?
Last chance of music industry.
I do kinda miss Speak Now/Fearless Taylor but Red was her best album (just about, Fearless is also outstanding as is Speak Now) and there was at least Red/All Too Well/Holy Ground/Treacherous/Begin Again etc. for classic Taylor, and then I Knew You Were Trouble and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together allowed for her to have massive WW hits. I think she's found a good niche where she can stay as one of the big pop females.
"Speak Now" and "Fearless" shat all over "Red".
The latest rumour is that a single will be released at midnight after the final night of her Red tour next month. If this is true (which I find unlikely), that would mean the single would be released on June 13th and we know that 13 is Taylor's lucky number...
Just found this on ATRL:
Looks like we should expect a new Taylor single in the next couple of weeks if she is going to have it released prior to her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 24th!
Yesterday, Scott Borchetta (founder of Taylor's record label Big Machine Records) suddenly started replying to lots of tweets about Taylor's fifth album as well as giving us a few teasers! Reading ATRL, apparently the last time he did this before 'Red', the 'Red' announcement came very quickly afterwards so hopefully we could be getting some official announcements any day now!
Taylor has posted our first clue presumably to do with a single or album on Instagram: http://instagram.com/p/rSJfxLDvH4/
She presses the #18 button 6 times so what could it mean? Is it too obvious that a single will premiere on August 18th at 6pm? (or 6am!)
I am so so excited for this, Taylor is definitely one of my favourite artists!
She needs to just give us something instead of just teasing, I know Red was only two years ago but she always slays and new Taylor can never come soon enough.
So So so so excited
Love Taylor so much
This is good news, I find Taylor's stuff hit and miss for me personally but I look forward to hearing some new stuff
Can't wait, she never fails to amaze me! Been waiting for this, hopefully a single very soon especially given she's performing at the VMAs.
Taylor has tweeted this image for our second clue!
I've merged the single topic back into this one for now as we have no idea if these clues are single or album-related!
Olivia Benson <3 Gah she's so adorable!
This photo also leaked earlier today supposedly revealing Taylor's upcoming events including a media event (a webchat?) on the day we expect the single to be released!
I'm not a fan but as an outsider I can say after her last albums success this could be one of the years biggest comebacks - her release strategy will be interesting - her last lead singles were OA/OS but I think most record companies even outside the uk have been told to hold singles back now so we might have to wait until October to actually own the new material
She's doing a Yahoo worldwide live stream on the 18th of august, 5PM ET
http://www.taylorswift.com/splash
So exciting! The 'Red' webchat was one of my favourite music-related things ever so I'm so glad she's doing another one to presumably unveil the new single!
So excited for new Taylor
Yahoo! have confirmed that the Q&A live stream with Taylor will last 90 minutes and will also include Taylor revealing her album artwork and her brand new music video! Those first week sales are going to be massive for Taylor with music video views included too!
Omg just days away
Called '1989'!
Album artwork:
Released October 27th!
Love the name and artwork
27 OCTOBER
There is also going to be a deluxe version
This is so amazing, I am in love with Taylor
There will be 13 polaroid photos with each physical album, but it won't be the same 13 with every album!
Taylor's website has crashed from all of the people trying to find out the pre-order information, me included!
All of the pre-order information and what the CD includes with it is now on taylorswift.com (which is now working again!)
I know! I keep trying to load a page up on there and it manages about 1 in every 10 attempts!
Very intrigued by the track with an Imogen Heap co-write..
Ryan Tedder on board for two songs too and Max Martin doing half the album, a far cry from Speak Now.
Just watched the iTunes exclusive behind the scenes video which you can access when you click the banner at the top of the iTunes home page (or visit Taylor's artist page!) It's quite interesting and funny!
Her team have really thought of everything they can, it's all been handled so incredibly well!
Here's the deluxe edition artwork:
So excited for this album, you have no idea.
I hope iTunes sort out what seems to be some sort of error as the album pre-order isn't showing up on any charts and we all know that it would be top 200 at least somewhere (and most likely top 10 nearly everywhere!).
That error is now sorted and the album is #1 on UK iTunes (and in many other countries too)! I can't believe how successful Taylor has become here, she's also done well with albums since 'Fearless' but this is a new level!
taylorswiftstore.co.uk has the CD up to pre-order and you can also get a mens or womens t-shirt with "Shake It Off" written on the front. Think I'm going to order the CD/t-shirt package
Here is an absolutely fantastic article about Taylor by the Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/taylor-swift-1989-cover-story-20140908
There's quite a few song titles in there and a lovely story about Taylor giving a fan money for her birthday! It'll make sense when you read it
The interesting parts condensed;
It's about Katy. She stole Taylor's backup dancers, midway through Taylor's tour I believe
So excited, everything sounds really promising I'd love Bad Blood to be scathing like Better Than Revenge at least!
Yeah I've read that story about Katy as well on ATRL so I assume it's about her!
Katy on twitter: Watch out for the Regina Georde in sheep's clothe
Katy's dancers that left Taylor's tour already confirmed in 2013 they left because Katy asked them back after they toured with her for TD.
Promotional singles should be coming soon judging by Taylor's reply to someone on Instagram, well I think it's Instagram!
It's tumblr
But I expect the first to land this tuesday
Looks like the first promo single will be coming soon (probably on Tuesday) as "Track 4" now has a time next to it (3 minutes 55 seconds) on iTunes whereas all of the others still have the generic 7 or 8 seconds song length. Exciting!
So so excited
I need Taylor songs
Taylor's posted a massive clue on instagram with 5 days so we should be getting a new song in 5 days
Here's Taylor performing 'Riptide' in the Live Lounge today!
And very exciting news about the promotional single, I believe it's called 'Out of the Woods'? It definitely matches the instagram clue anyway.
Her performance of riptide in the live lounge today was amazing- I managed to catch that one live
I missed SIO but heard it an hour ago. I thought it was good but the microphone obviously wasn't on properly at the start and the backing singers sometimes were a bit too loud
I am now on a Taylor Speak Now binge listening. I've already done mine, mean, speak now (x2), enchanted (x3), haunted and more of them. I am literally posting so much on instagram at the moment and interacting with other swifties. I love swifties so much
Has anyone else read some of the stories that Swifties have posted when they met Taylor yesterday. Some of them are so beautiful so I really recommend reading them- I started crying during a couple of them as well.
Taylor is just so amazing
Taylor is performing on the finale of Australian X Factor on next Sunday/Monday (not sure which, it's split over two nights like ours), I hope she mashes up Out Of The Woods with the inevitable Shake It Off
Also Out Of The Woods clip is here...
http://prxmise.tumblr.com/post/99904294173/thanksforsayingthat-out-of-the-woods-taylor
*.* Sound quite tribal, a bit like Uncondtionally almost?!
That hook sounds fabulous. So catchy already. Can't wait to hear the full thing in a few hours, if the clip is anything to go by it should be better than "Shake It Off"!
Very excited for this, it's only a couple of hours until the full song will be released! Taylor posted a great picture on Twitter too teasing the song release tonight:
Also Taylor was amazing on the Graham Norton show the other day, the part when they were talking about the 1989 Secret Sessions was hilarious!
'Out Of The Woods' is STUNNING, as expected.
Link here:
http://alleyesonhunter.tumblr.com/post/99964705018/taylor-swift-out-of-the-woods-preorder-1989-on
Absolutely perfect.
Stunning production, very instant and catchy, leagues ahead of "Shake It Off" for me. This feels more natural.
Already dying for it to be an official single!
That chorus is amazing, the verses are going to take a while to grow on me I think but THANK GOD she's not solely peddling Shake It Off-esque lowest common denominator crap.
JUST STUNNING
Incredible, I love the way it builds through the song and how it produces such a frantic atmosphere with the repetition and production, something Taylor has said was her aim. Her songwriting is once again amazing and shows why, in my opinion, she has that extra something special compared to the other "pop girls" of today as well as making Taylor's pop songs still just as much Taylor as her country songs.
The reaction worldwide when looking at album pre-order is sensational (it is top 3 in the UK for example and #1 in Australia!), I think this album (and singles) could be as big, if not bigger, than the 'Teenage Dream' campaign. I assume 'Out of the Woods' will be made available here at midnight maybe, hopefully it's very soon!
Parts of the song also remind me of CHVRCHES too actually!
Love on first listen. Grew tired of 'Shake It Off' extremely quickly but I can see this potentially being one of her best ever tracks for me.
This song is truly amazing.
Out Of The Woods is amazing!
Excitement for this album is an understatement, as this is shaping up to be even better than Red
Oh my, Out Of The Woods is phenomenal. I'm absolutely buzzing for this album, should be one of the best pop albums in a while!
It's pretty great.
I really dislike the girl though, I wish she'd stop making songs I like.
Love 'Out of the Woods'
It now seems to be available just about everywhere, except the UK. Hopefully we'll get it by midnight tonight!
The album is top 2 on UK iTunes with two weeks still until release - unbelievable!
I don't even have the words to describe Out Of The Woods to be quite honest
I'll wait for the previews to arrive but I'm 90% sure I'll be ordering this album
I was just talking more generally worldwide really. 'Teenage Dream' has sold 5.7 million albums worldwide apparently, while 'Red' is on 4.2 million (if I'm to believe Wikipedia). I think '1989' is definitely going to be Taylor's most successful album worldwide, so that would immediately put '1989' into the 5 to 6 million sales region (without a re-release which will have inflated Katy's sales too of course). Then singles-wise, I'd say 'Shake It Off' is getting quite close (although not quite matching it of course) to the success of 'California Gurls' when talking about general worldwide success and then there's no reason why Taylor couldn't have another 4 or 5 singles that go top 10 all over the world - 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and to a lesser extent '22' showed that there's definitely potential for lots of successful Taylor post-album singles from an album but of course she ran out of pop singles to release from 'Red' which she'll have no problem with on '1989'. Of course it'll be nearly impossible to match the record of 5 #1s from an album, but that's US-specific whereas I was just referring to general worldwide success.
Of course it's very ambitious but I think Taylor could get very close to the success of it, if not matching it. We can hope anyway!

Out Of The Woods is less abysmal than Shake It Off, but still pretty awful.
Taylor has been amazing once again regarding communication with fans and wrote a special message on her Tumblr page for UK fans about why we haven't been able to get 'Out of the Woods' yet:
I know she has no say over it but I don't see how holding music back can ever be a good strategy/experience for the fans? What do they gain from waiting for ages for a song to be released, the joy of seeing it chart a few places higher - do more than 1% of an act's fanbase even care where an album track/instant grat charts?
I long for a time when we don't have to wait weeks or more often months after EVERY other country in the world to get hold of certain songs.[/steve201stylerantover]
'Out Of The Woods' is absolutely brilliant! Quite possibly my favourite of hers already! If this is supposed to be the song that best represents the album... consider me as a new STAN! FUUUUUCK. SO GOOD.
It sounds a bit like her record label suggested it and Taylor has reluctantly agreed, or is happy to try something different for a change (as we know she hasn't held anything back since 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' which was only held back a few days of course), but is very prepared to cancel the change if her fans aren't happy. I believe Taylor when she says she'll be watching closely to make sure us fans are happy, although I do agree that it does seem like there isn't going to be any sort of benefit. We'll see!
I am so stuck whether to buy the album on ITunes or physical copy
The problem with ITunes is I love physical copy albums and I want the booklet and messages that Taylor puts in albums and the problem with physical copy is that it will probably only be the standard version and not deluxe.
Should I get ITunes now + physical for Christmas? Should I just get physical? Should I just get ITunes? Should I just get physical and buy the deluxe songs I like on ITunes?
I am so stuck
I can see stores stocking both the standard and deluxe versions of her album (especially with it being Taylor). Unless you're talking strictly supermarkets (who rarely (if ever) stock deluxe versions of any album.) They should just make it the deluxe version only for the UK fans, like Kelly C did for 'Stronger'!
I always favour physical copies over digital copies, I've only ever bought 1 or 2 full-length albums digitally. And like you say, Taylor physical copies are special regarding the booklet messages and of course this time we get the special set of 13 photo prints!
Is there a reason you can't get the deluxe physical album, is it the extra cost?
I'm sure most artists release both a standard and deluxe physical copy these days too? Could you not purchase the deluxe CD? (Or is Taylor not releasing the deluxe as a CD?)
I would possibly suggest ordering it online from somewhere. Not only do you get the deluxe CD, but more often than not, they ship it out early and you end up getting it the Friday or Saturday before release! (Happened a fair amount of times for me!) They won't charge you for the CD until they have shipped it out to you, either!
Taylor will be posting a lyric from all 13 tracks over the next 13 days and she has just revealed the first!

Track 1 #1989lyrics
http://instagram.com/p/uJugfTDvBd/
Also, I don't think this has been posted yet but this leaked just after the album pre-order was put up, I think it was found through iTunes somewhere. I assume it's true, well it was right regarding track 4 anyway!
I'm no Taylor fan but Woods is incredible
Out Of The Woods is #1 and #2 in Canada
Imogen Heap!
I really hope sweeter than fiction is track 7 or 15
A preview of 'Get The Girl' can be heard in the new Diet Coke advert below that features Taylor! Sounds really cute
"Out of the Woods" is so good! I'm loving the direction of the album, it was a bold move for Taylor to label this her "first documented pop album" but it's clearly not backfired on her. The sound works so well with her (not that Red was particularly un-pop, but the country influences were still there). I can't wait to hear the full album!
Is the standard edition 13 tracks and the deluxe 16 then?
The Diet Coke advert is so cute! Song sounds decent too.
Out Of The Woods is one of her best already
Her album is #02 in the United Kingdom on iTunes for almost 24 hours, I've never seen a pre-order hold up so well . Could we be expecting better opening sales than Red? .
'Taylor is also 8% ahead of One Direction, hopefully that increases to around 15 tomorrow in order for her having a chance of getting a new peak which I'm quite confident she should be able to.
So the song length for Track 1 has now been changed on iTunes, so this should be the next promo single as the same happened with 'Out of the Woods' last week! As far as we are aware it's the Ryan Tedder collaboration that is apparently about Taylor moving to New York. ATRL are speculating that it is even called 'Welcome to New York' but we'll see.
Also we now have lyric teasers for...
Track 2: http://instagram.com/p/uMC8GXjvN6/
Track 3: http://instagram.com/p/uM4hfyDvGA/
I'm expecting around 750k in the US and maybe 60k again in the UK, but both will have great longevity. It'll definitely be Taylor's most successful first week worldwide though!
So so excited
Listening to You Belong With Me on repeat at the moment- in my top 3 Taylor songs ever
out of the woods is so incredible.
out of sheer boredom, my top 5 taylor songs are:
01. mine
02. stay stay stay
03. love story
04. fearless
05. red
Can't even believe how good Out Of The Woods is, really igniting a love for Taylor I never knew I had!
Apparantly Welcome To New York is the next promo single
Indeed! By the way Taylor posted on Tumblr that the above track listing isn't accurate.
Yeah i read that on twitter as well, but she konda denied it in a way that'd suspect it being true
She says it's coming on Monday, World Wide.
I presume not the UK again? if not I guess OOTW will be the chosen instant grat for the UK? Oh man. I just wish she'd hurry up and make it available for the UK!
'Shake It Off' is the UK instant grat so I'm assuming her plan is just to not make them available at all in the hope they will chart highly on album release? I'm not sure what this "UK strategy" is but I can't see it being an improvement on just making them available and having them ineligible for a week or two.
I've got a feeling she's waiting until she can release an instant grat-a-day to fill up the top 10 just like Ed did the week before release.
Here's the preview for "Welcome To New York"
And the video of her talking about it
Sounds alright, I prefer the sound of the song in the Diet Coke advert though.
Is welcome to New York available in the UK?
It looks like it when you click on the album
Yep! This is a link to listen on tumblr:
http://theluckyonestuff.tumblr.com/post/100522097995/taylor-swift-welcome-to-new-york-it-is-already
I'm not really feeling this one and the use of autotune. Find it fairly annoying.
It's alright I guess... I feel like it sounds more like an extended album into than a song in it's own right, if that makes sense.
I wasn't sure when I heard the 1 minute clip but I loved the full song- the third 10/10 for me on this album (well tbh 2nd because SIO is 11/10)
'Welcome To New York' is wonderful, also! Loving the electro, pop synths!
Omg I LOVE it, wonderfully 80s and fun <3 I was unsure and worried when I heard the clip but it's so so good! It puts me slightly in mind of a more polished and retro rework of Starlight.
This is interesting. She's certainly pushing herself sonically with this album. Not quite sure what to make of it as of now but I'm pretty sure areweoutofthewoodsyet areweoutofthewoodsyet areweoutofthewoodsyet areweoutofthewoods areweintheclearyet areweintheclearyet areweintheclearyet intheclearyetGOOD's crown will be safe for the time being.
'New York' is also really good, WHAT IS HAPPENING I'M BECOMING A SWIFT FAN
Track 3 was accidentally released in Canada but it's just 8 seconds of white noise (obviously not in reality, just because of the error) but still got to #22 on itunes, only Taylor could slay that bad tbh.
It even topped the chart with a 0.8 lead
Slaying so effortlessly
You can create your own 1989 cover on this link
http://taylorswift.com/1989photobooth
I have done a bunch of Taylor pics inside them and posted them on my instagram
Here is a Target commercial which previews a song called "Never Go Out Of Style"
omg that Track 3 is even in the Top 10 of last day downloads on one private torrent tracker I use. lmao
I think she needs to release it as a bonus track or something
Her eventual transformation into a major indie artist will get much smoother
leaky
Would have been so fitting had the infamous Track 3 been called Blank Space, but that's track 2!
'Wildest Dreams' is so Lana del Rey but I love ittt.
+ 'I Know Places' is v good.
On the whole, it's better than I expected but that's not really saying much. It's all pretty average minus a couple of songs.
08.0 Welcome to New York
04.5 Blank Space
09.0 Style
10.0 Out of the Woods
08.5 All You Had to Do
06.5 Shake It Off
07.0 I Wish You Would
06.0 Bad Blood
08.0 Wildest Dreams
07.0 How You Get the Girl
06.5 This Love
09.0 I Know Places
07.0 Clean
11.0 Wonderland
07.0 You R In Love
07.5 New Romance
'Wonderland' slays everything though, so so good
I tried to wait for Monday but caved and listened to the leak less than 12 hours after I saw it had leaked Willpower is definitely not my strong point
11 Welcome to New York (I can't at people saying it's the worst track on here... It's just amazing, I love the 80s synths so much - they just overwhelm me with joy and euphoria <3)
08 Blank Space
10 Style (FAB. Reminds me a bit of a more fun sounding Love Me Harder)
10 Out of the Woods (it really grew me since last week, when I would have "only" given it a 9)
08.5 All You Had to Do Was Stay
10 Shake It Off
08 I Wish You Would
08 Bad Blood
08 Wildest Dreams
09.5 How You Get the Girl
06 This Love
10 I Know Places
07.5 Clean
10 Wonderland
05 You R In Love
09.5 New Romance
It's very close between Shake It Off, Wonderland, Style and Welcome To New York for my favourite track but it has to be the latter <3 Rhe album isn't as joyously 80s but the influences are most definitely there subtly. Very very good overall, not disappointed at all and this is why she's my fave The fact there are two big filler tracks - You R In Love and This Love - is my only qualm but I guess most albums have that
10.0 Welcome to New York
09.0 Blank Space
08.5 Style
09.0 Out of the Woods
09.0 All You Had to Do Was Stay
11.0 Shake It Off - has the benefit of time though
08.0 I Wish You Would
10.0 Bad Blood
10.0 Wildest Dreams
10.0 How You Get the Girl - this run of three tracks is absolutely FLAWLESS.
07.5 This Love
09.0 I Know Places
08.0 Clean
10.0 Wonderland
09.0 You R In Love
09.0 New Romance
SO STRONG. Such a loony rate but it's more consistent than Red for me (that had a few duds on first listen although now I'd only call Sad Beautiful Tragic and Treacherous "duds" as such), not a single dud and it all works so well together. Was very surprised at no WANEGBT/22 style pop tracks, especially when she called this her first proper "pop" album, but not complaining at all as what we got was AMAZING.
My rate
10 Welcome To New York
10 Out Of The Woods
11 Shake It Off
Now it's time for me to not give in and wait to hear the album on Monday
Christ, most Swifties are going MENTAL over the leak If you listen you have "betrayed Taylor's trust" and you "can't be forgiven"... I get why people are anti-leaks and I know Taylor is really proud of this and is probably a little pissed it leaked but virtually all big pop albums leak, it's just so annoying they're all on their high horse about it. It's like "wow I can wait two days longer than you for an album I'm the height of morality" I am still buying the album, I am still supporting the era and I still adore Taylor with all my heart - that doesn't change because I listened to some tracks early.
This is why I can never be part of a proper "fanbase" in the way most are, even for those artists I adore who are my faves they're usually just too much...
It hasn't "leaked" though, has it? It got released in other countries didn't it?
I don't think so, the worldwide iTunes release date is October 28th - at least it is for Australia where it is yet to be released.
So so excited to listen to this album, 'Welcome To New York' is fantastic - the way Taylor sings the "dance to this beat forever more" lyric in the chorus in particular is just incredible.
It seems to be the 27th/28th everywhere despite the fact loads of countries (Australia for one) usually have their release dates on a Friday, hmm... So yes it does seem to have leaked in the "true" sense.
I guess the physical CD release could still have been today, I'm sure someone will have posted whether it was somewhere on the web.
I did see loads of stuff on twitter about a girl who apparently bought 1989 from a store who mistakenly released it early (didn't actually see her tweet, just people talking about it), if they did then other copies would have been sold obviously and it's not too far outside the realms of belief that someone would upload it online! I think this was in America but idk.
There could be physical copies released WW I guess given that so many countries have Friday as their release day.
Performance of 'Out Of The Woods' on Jimmy Kimmel...
Such a STAR *.*
Re. The release date, I'm fairly sure Red's release got held back until at least Monday everywhere!
But 1989 is out on Monday in America, so why isn't it out here on iTunes until Tuesday? :/
Struggling to see why Wonderland is only a bonus track, it is incredible.
Other favourites are I Know Places, Wildest Dreams and Style.
this album is so much fun. it's an invariable pastiche of other very blog friendly musicians but max martin as we all know writes an excellent chorus and produces excellent music. the best euphoric pop producer.
'out of the woods', 'all you had to do was stay', 'how you get the girl' and 'wonderland' are early favs.
NOT BEING FUNNY but 'bad blood' sounds like karaoke avril and 'wildest dreams' sounds like a lana tribute act.
Not heard the album yet, going to buy it. But 'Out Of The Woods' is FCUKING amazing. Anthem tbh.
Since I listened to the entire album, I will leave my two cents about it.
Her new album is great, even if it is pop. This isn't drastically different than Red, that album was more pop than country so I don't know why so many are shocked by her decision. There are songs like Wildest Dreams, This Love, Clean, How You Get The Girl and You Are In Love which could have easily been on Red, those songs aren't so different. However, even if the songs like Blank Space and I Know Places which are melodically very different, they are lyrically still very interesting and strong, especially Blank Spaces because she basically makes fun of the media and the image she has (writing about ex-boyfriends).
My point is, this is still Taylor, even if she changed her style because most of her songs are still lyrically interesting and strong - I mean, You Are In Love is a beautiful love song. In fact, ONLY Shake It Off is catchy fun pop song, the rest is more deeper than that.
Also, who cares if the songs are about Harry Styles? Some people are really too worked up about it. She always wrote songs about her ex-boyfriends, nothing new about that. I actually think only Out Of The Woods and Style are directly about him. However, I always hated that people analyzed her songs just so they could figure about who is the song about - it doesn't matter whom the song is about, not really.
Honestly, if people could just ignore the fact that she went from country to pop, they would see it is a very good album. It actually annoys me that many are acting like she did some crime just because she went pop. So what? She has the right to do so, its obviously something she wanted to do for a while since Red was more pop and country anyway. Artist has the right to do what he/she wants, who says she will never do country again? People are just exaggerating, she still is making good music even if it isn't country.
And you know what? I also commend her for truly embracing the 80s sound. Because when I heard Shake It Off, I was thinking she doesn't know what she is talking about if she thinks this represents 80s music. But truly, every other song in its melody is heavily influenced by 80s music. In fact, this album is more cohesive and consistent than Red, everything is put together nicely.
This is not country, BUT I will defend Taylor on her decision because she still made good music. At least this time she said she is going pop, unlike Red which was a mixture, but it was mostly pop.
I listened to the album for the first time late Friday night and thought it was pretty good, although I was so tired at the time I couldn't really enjoy it as much as I wanted to as I'd just got back home after travelling all day on flights, buses and trains! Now I've finally had chance to listen to the album again and it is absolutely fantastic. Every song is so catchy, the production is just so full and interesting and I just want to keep listening to it. My stand-out track from my first (half-asleep ) listen was 'How You Get The Girl', and that is still one of the stand-outs but there are so many good tracks its hard to choose. Can't wait to get the CD tomorrow (assuming the CD isn't held back till the 28th) so I can listen to that!
Also, the Voice Memo tracks are so so interesting - I'd love to listen to a whole album of the voice memos and Taylor talking about them - a fantastic unique idea from her.
To be fair she really has never been a country singer but a pop star with country influences.
Taylor's first album was definitely a country album, and she was definitely only a country singer then. 'Fearless' was still country but a couple of the singles did start to have pop influences. I'd also say 'Speak Now' was just about a full country album as well - probably more country than 'Fearless'. Only with 'Red' did the pop start to become a very significant influence in some of the tracks.
After a couple of listens I'd say this is a far stronger album than the mess that was 'Prism'.
'Welcome to New York', 'Out of the Woods', 'All You Had to Do Was Stay', 'Wildest Dreams' and 'I Know Places' are the standouts for me at the moment. A few duds in 'I Wish You Would', 'This Love' and 'You Are in Love' but I'd say it's a pretty strong album for what it is.
Still nothing as good as 'I Knew You Were Trouble' though!
I think this album is amazing <3
I dragged my mom to a US chain called Target (the only place to get the deluxe edition of 1989) right at opening and snagged the first copy available! The album is my favorite this year, by far.
It's been a strong year for albums actually, and this is another to add to the list. Really strong and I've just bought the standard (Sainsburys naturally didn't have the deluxe and I live near nothing else!)
This is probably my album of the year too after a few days of it sinking in <3 The holy trinity of 2014 is this, The New Classic and x tbh.
I listened to this album for the first time this afternoon and on first listen, I like the album but I don't think it's as good as Red. At the moment, stand out tracks for me are:
- Welcome to New York
- Blank Space
- Style
- Out of the Woods
- Wildest Dreams
- Wonderland
Hoping more will grow on me with another listen.
I went into listening to a few tracks as someone who dislikes Taylor lmao I know wtf but apart from her personality, her music can be incredible! I've only listened to a few tracks but Welcome To New York and Wildest Dreams are great! Whoever chose Shake It Off to be lead single when those tracks are levels ahead is an idiot but I guess it's worked well for sales and whatever but Wildest Dreams is amazing, sounds like a Lana Del Rey song!
Out Of The Woods doesn't live up the speculation unfortunately and Bad Blood's chorus is terrible/cheesy but the verses are insanely good and the bridge is the best bit, feels like Ella's Ghost (with the chorus being insane and the verses not feeling right) I can't wait to hear more tracks tbh (especially Style and Clean)
Solid album actually but Welcome To New York is dire Out Of The Woods though
FIRST LISTEN (giving 11's to any track that is worth 11)
10 Welcome To New York
10 Blank Space
10 Style
11 Out Of The Woods
10 All You Had To Do Was Stay
11 Shake It Off
09 I Wish You Would
10 Bad Blood
11 Wildest Dreams
11 How You Get The Girl
10 This Love
09 I Know Places
10 Clean
Just stunning
The iTunes success for this is astounding, she has 6 (soon to be 7) tracks in the US top 10, the entire album in the Canadian top 20. And the album is #1 just about everywhere - Taylor is definitely the biggest star in the world!
Random comment but the album booklet is the nicest I've seen this year. Lovely paper (sorry, print geek observation), clear text, soft but effective colours, great pictures and the foreword is really interesting to read too. Love the included wallet of photos too. This is definitely an album worth buying physically.
'Blank Space' is apparently the next single. Good choice.
She's not exactly short of hits on the album though, could go with any of them really!
Out of the Woods NEEDS to be a single. God it's good
One of the best pop albums of the year, easily.
'Blank Space' has been confirmed as the second single
I fully endorse the concept of this album ('screw the personal emo bull and stuff each song with about 10 hooks' realness). Based on a few listens;
09 Welcome To New York
09 Blank Space
09 Style
10 Out Of The Woods
08 All You Had To Do Was Stay
10 Shake It Off
09 I Wish You Would
07 Bad Blood
09 Wildest Dreams
08 How You Get The Girl
06 This Love
07 I Know Places
11 Clean
08 Wonderland
06 You R in Love
06 New Romance
Clean is my clear favourite <3 (single please!).
This is the best mainstream pop album since Teenage Dream.
I'm not sure it's as strong as 'Bangerz' for me, but I guess time will tell. Certainly the second best mainstream pop album since 'Teenage Dream' at least though, although to be fair, that's not that hard when Britney, Gaga, Katy and Rihanna have all been releasing sub-par albums. Ready for Rihanna's next album to truly BRING IT.
Love this album! Style should definitely be a single
Wildest Dreams would slot perfectly onto Born To Die, no question; she had to be listening to a lot of Lana around the time of writing this, I mean it's Lana to a T. Even the opening line matches the "let's get out of this town baby we're on fire" opening line to Lana's The Lucky Ones.
Although it should be sued for plagiarism () it's so Lana that I ADORE it, by far my favourite of the bunch yet.

The two Tedder tracks couldn't be more different. I think "Welcome To New York" is one of the most basic songs on the album (and my least favourite) whereas I find "I Know Places" to be one of the most intriguing. "Wonderland" and "New Romantics" are battling hard to displace "Out Of The Woods" as my top track.
Disappointed that "Blank Space" is seemingly the next single as I prefer the majority of the other songs. The verses don't really live up to the chorus for me.
09.0 Welcome To New York
10.0 Blank Space
08.0 Style
11.0 Out Of The Woods next single pls after blank space
10.0 All You Had To Do Was Stay
09.0 Shake It Off

07.5 I Know Places
07.5 Clean
SOLID. (maybe a bit of filler towards the end)
genuinely a fantastic album!
I am surprised she isnt going with Out Of The Woods next, surely it is the most logical choice?! It easily has the most hype around it right now. It is like when Katy Perry decided to not release Dark Horse after Roar.
'Style'' 'Black Space' and 'Wonderland' are GODLY
Yeah I suppose that makes sense actually.
I agree on the Wildest Dreams love, it is stunning. I adore I Know Places and Wonderland too .
600k of this sold in the first day
Taylor Unstoppable!
She's announced a bunch of US and Canadian tour dates for next summer along with a couple for the UK!
Tuesday 23rd June - SSE Hydro, Glasgow
Wednesday 24th June - Phones 4u Arena, Manchester
Saturday 27th June - Hyde Park, London [headlining British Summer Time]
Aah so excited! I went to her Fearless Tour but wasn't able to make the last 2, will definitely be going to the Manchester show.
I really want to see Taylor live so I may look into going to the Manchester show, but I guess tickets will be snapped up in a matter of minutes once they are on sale! Hopefully she'll add a few more dates too.
Also, Spotify seem to be desperate to get Taylor back on their service - they've been tweeting her, starting a Twitter campaign and even created a playlist called "What To Play While Taylor's Away"!
Hits Daily Double have revealed that Taylor sold 1.316 million copies in the US last week, just 3,000 less than Britney's record! Although there are often differences between HDD's totals and the final Billboard totals (Slipknot's album sales increased by 5,000 last week) so could there still be a chance?
Whatever happens, absolutely phenomenal sales from Taylor!
Such a flop
Wanted her to snatch that record!
Out Of The Woods is by far my favourite track on the album!
Billboard have revealed that '1989' has debuted with 1.287 million sales: https://twitter.com/billboard/status/529835026008244225 so Taylor hasn't broken Britney's 'Oops!... I Did It Again' record. Still, tremendous sales in this day and age!
Wow amazing sales! I didn't quite expect her to break the record, but DAMN she was close
Wow that's phenomenal even if she didn't break the record! I didn't quite think she would as nobody can reach the euphoria and hysteria of Britney mania as was said a page or two ago, although she was hella close Especially given that not one album up to now has gone platinum, she's by far the best seller of the year just in one week!
I'd say this was my album of the year! Never bothered to listen to any Taylor album before this one, having only liked a handful of her singles - so this is quite a turnaround! So many fantastic tracks.
Kind of surprised to see some negativity towards 'Welcome To New York' from some, that's easily one of my favourites. 'Style', 'Out Of The Woods', 'All You Had To Do Was Stay' and 'Wildest Dreams' probably make up the rest of my Top 5 album tracks.
'Wonderland' and 'New Romantics' are way too good to be bonus tracks. Weaker moments on the album for me are 'How You Get The Girl', 'This Love' and 'I Know Places', but still 7/10 moments. I'd have demoted a couple of those to be bonus tracks instead.
How You Get The Girl is one of my favourites Totally agreed on Wonderland though, that deserves single treatment
This is the first time i have given a Taylor Swift album a listen and i'm very very impressed.
My highlight is easily 'Wildest Dreams', what a beauty
You missed out with Red big time then!
Mehhhh. This album >>>>>>>>>>>> 'Red' (and I really like 'Red'!)
Red is still rather flawless tho, so he missed out regardless
is Red like deleted from the internet entirely and all physical copies in existence self-destructed or something? because, you know, albums can still be listened to years after their release. I KNOW this theory sounds like the whole earth is not flat!!1 thing but i swear it's true
Yes.
(Imeant that he missed out big time for the past 2 years bye)
I will get onto checking out her earlier stuff for sure! Starting with 'Red'.
Can't quite get over 'Wildest Dreams' for now though. It's everything i want in a song - the right amount of pain, vulnerability, optimism and beauty. Absolutely stunning.

So good.
Don't pick out the two slightly low scores out of the heap of good ones
('Welcome to New York' is annoying though :S 'Style' i can't even remember - and anyway it's all relative to the insane high points!!)
OK maybe i was too harsh on 'Style' listening back. Edits
Slightly better but WTNY is the best
'Welcome To New York' is pretty lame IMO.
WTNY is so good! I don't get the lukewarm reception to it at all. I mean, it's of course no 'Out of the Woods', but it's pretty great!
There's a version of "Blank Space" with Pitbull of all people on it...
All right, who put Buzzjack on Santa's naughty list?
okay so I listened to this for the first time and it was rather nice and fun for a Taylor Swift album. Welcome to New York and Shake It Off >>>>>>>>>> tho

Very accurate, I'd say!
for that style of music (Taylor Swift)?
Just had a listen to Wildest Dreams out of curiosity and yes it sounds quite similar to 'Without You' by Lana Del Rey I still retain that Out Of The Woods is the best f***ing pop song this year though
this albuma has gotten better with repeated plays, a truly amazing pop record that'll go down as a classic.
p.s. 'wonderland' and especially 'new romantics' are my favourites. nr is as good as pure song gets pretty much
I'm actually listening to this album as you posted that and have to agree it's a really strong album. I never thought I'd be so on board with Taylor.
BTW New Romantics and Wonderland were the only two of the bonus tracks I bothered with and agree they're among the strongest on the record, am I missing anything with the other?
Definitely one of my favourite albums ever, and I agree that 'New Romantics' in particular is one of the best deluxe bonus tracks ever surely? And yes you should make sure you nominate 'New Romantics' (and 'Wonderland' too I suppose) in the Pop Forum Awards for best song relegated to a deluxe bonus track
I said earlier in the thread that I thought that this era could be as big as 'Teenage Dream' and while many disagreed and I was being pretty optimistic myself although I did have faith it could do it, it does look like this could be even bigger than the 'Teenage Dream' era! And I really believe 'Style', if that does become the next single as rumoured, could be her first UK #1 depending if there's a quiet week or two with no big releases in Q1 next year!
I think as long as she's refusing to put her music on streaming services, she's not going to get a UK #1 single to her name (unless she unleashes a monster lead single for the next era). 'Style' would be fully deserving of being her first #1 though, it's just a pure pop gem that keeps improving on further listens.
I think this should definitely push for top 5, but she's arguably the biggest name in the world right now so none of this matters in the grand scheme of things.
Is it just be who thinks every song would make a good single? Welcome to New York has grown on me monstrously too (which was the only track I didn't like)
I'm happy for any of them to be a single apart from I wish you would have put this song on the deluxe or left it off the album
I'd prefer the singles to be out of the woods/ all you had to do was stay/ bad blood/ wildest dreams and I know places
Bad Blood may never become a single
That is the only song I deleted off my iTunes, I have such hate for it ugh
Bad Blood is the low point for me too, that and How You Get The Girl were removed from my playlist of it.
Oh and thank ye Jake for the offer... I downloaded it last night before I noticed your response... but, as you say, it's a kinda safe ballad thing really, okay but not a stand out.
this album is rather good. Style getting a single push would be fabulous, easily the highlight here. the others being I Wish You Would, Out of the Woods + the 2 singles
(as long as they don't give bloody Welcome to New York a single release then all shall be fine~)
I listened to the bonus tracks, in full agreement that 'Wonderland' and 'New Romantics' should've had a place on the main album. What the hell?! 'You Are In Love' is boring, I have that same opinion of 'This Love' so I guess I'm not feeling the love.
Those two should replace the aforementioned 'This Love' and 'All You Had To Do Was Stay' on the main tracklist.
'I Know Places' is also properly hitting me now.
I have finally listened to the bonus tracks in full. I just never ever listen to the bonus tracks unless I can buy the deluxe physical version of the album
First thoughts:
Wonderland- First listen: Overrated, Second Listen: Really good
New Romantics- why is this only on the deluxe, so so stunning
You Are In Love- Very nice
W and NR should be on main album over I wish you would and clean while you are in love is where it deserves to be or it can replace this love, I'm not sure
EDIT: I need New Romantics in my life right now. Purchased on iTunes
Still makes me sad to see people drag Welcome To New York. It's one of my ultimate favourites on there. What is it that people don't like about it?
Liam knows where it's at though.
i find it often gets stuck in my head but idk it feels like an intro and a kind of tacky one at that...
Past me would be ASHAMED but I have given in and listened through this ('Blank Space' is just incredible and I really liked 'Shake It Off' too). Time for another hyperbolic rating:
6.0 Welcome To New York
11.0 Blank Space
10.0 Style
8.5 Out Of The Woods (9.0 for the middle 8 and chorus alone, the rest slightly drags it down but still v good)
9.0 All You Had To Do Was Stay
9.5 Shake It Off
8.0 I Wish You Would
10.0 Bad Blood
7.5 Wildest Dreams
8.0 How You Get The Girl
9.5 This Love
7.0 I Know Places
6.5 Clean
9.5 Wonderland
6.5 You Are In Love
9.5 New Romantics
'Welcome To New York' is such a MEH opening, not a bad song per se but it just sounds like a bad attempt at being Katy Perry. After getting through that however this album sounds practically like a greatest hits, she's really got this whole POP MUSIC thing down to a T hasn't she Nearly every song here sounds like it could be a big hit if released as a single. Dare I compare it to 'Thriller', as I genuinely get that sort of feeling from it. Last 2 tracks of the standard edition are a bit of a comedown from the rest though, they'd be decent enough as bonus tracks I guess so swap them out for 'Wonderland' and 'New Romantics' and just cut 'Welcome To New York' entirely and this would be pretty much a perfect album. V impressed.
If 'Style' is the next single I could see myself growing to love it just as much as 'Blank Space'. 'Bad Blood' is my other massive highlight if you couldn't figure that out from the ratings ~ And 'This Love' is like 10x better than the rest of the slower tracks Glad there weren't too many of those as she doesn't seem quite as good at them as she is at big pop songs.
My updated rating after a couple of months of sinking in, because I'm bored:
10 Welcome To New York (still adore this, I don't get the hate it is quite cheesy I guess but the synths are so joyous!)
10 Blank Space
11 Style (really set on this on the next single now <3)
09 Out Of The Woods (it feels weird to say a song that's 9/10 is overrated but this is, it's just that this is far from her best even though it is a 9 because I love so much of her material)
08.5 All You Had To Do Was Stay
10 Shake It Off
08.5 I Wish You Would
09 Bad Blood (for all the Avril Lavigne comparisons, I'd say Avril done well Which Avril herself can't even do most of the time)
10 Wildest Dreams
09 How You Get The Girl
09 This Love (huge grower from my first impressions!)
09 I Know Places
08 Clean
10 Wonderland
06 You R In Love
10 New Romantics
That is genuinely my rating given that this is two months after release, that's a testament to how amazing it is, it's not wearing off at all <3 Because of the high quality I find it hard to pin down a favourite from Blank Space, Style, Shake It Off and Welcome Yo New York, but right now I'd say Style
My loony looking rating:
10.0 Welcome To New York (Oh Bré you nincompoop x)
11.0 Blank Space
10.0 Style
10.0 Out Of The Woods
9.5 All You Had To Do Was Stay
10.0 Shake It Off
9.0 I Wish You Would
9.0 Bad Blood
10.0 Wildest Dreams
7.5 How You Get The Girl
8.0 This Love
8.5 I Know Places
8.0 Clean
10.0 Wonderland
7.0 You Are In Love
10.0 New Romantics
... goodness me! The album is pretty incredible, easily one of the best pop albums of the 2010s. Dare I say *the* best? This time last year I wouldn't have thought I'd ever bother to check out a Taylor Swift album, let alone that I'd really love one. I need to check out 'Red' asap.
The heavily slated 'Welcome To New York' is such an easy highlight for me. I can't help but feel a little "oh " when I see mass dislike for something I really love, but I will have to put this down to different strokes for different folks. Like Liam said, those synths are irresistible to me and as a whole the track has a euphoric, hopeful feeling to it. Such a great opening to the album.
'Style' is the perfect choice for next single - it's my second favourite track on the album.
I had considered 'How You Get The Girl' through to 'Clean' as a noticeable lull on the album, but those tracks have all grown on me considerably. I found 'HYGTG' to be a bit saccharine at first, but I can't deny how catchy it is. It was verging on an '8.0'.
'You Are In Love' is the only relatively weak moment, but still worthy of a 7 and more than passable as a deluxe track. Speaking of which, 'Wonderland' and 'New Romantics' seriously deserved a place on the standard album! Although they definitely make purchasing the deluxe super worth it.
When I read that most of the tracks were produced by Max Martin and Shellback I knew this was going to be a monster of an album; it's definitely one of my favourite ever.
7.0 Welcome To New York
10.0 Blank Space
11.0 Style
9.0 Out Of The Woods
8.0 All You Had To Do Was Stay
9.75 Shake It Off
7.75 I Wish You Would
10.0 Bad Blood (definitely a '*.*' last chorus moment)
8.0 Wildest Dreams
8.0 How You Get The Girl
8.0 This Love (a solid 12.5 for the middle 8 though)
8.5 I Know Places
5.5 Clean
9.5 Wonderland
8.5 You Are In Love
10.0 New Romantics
I am SO rooting for Style as the next single (even though it's pretty much a cert). I would very much like to see Bad Blood released, I think that will be the moment that she solidifies her pop move. It seems very unlikely from Taylor, but if she released a rapper remix of it (JAY Z or Iggy?) specifically for US Rhythmic radio, I could see Bad Blood becoming one of, if not her biggest radio hit to date in America. New Romantics seems like a fitting late-summer-early-autumn follow up to Bad Blood with Wildest Dreams (and that X Factor final performance) seeing her and her album sales through Q4 2015.
I will never understand why those three bonus tracks were ever put as bonus tracks; I ideally would replace HYGTG, This Love and Clean for all of them. Welcome to New York has grown on me but it's still a very dull opening. That being said, it seems fitting for her fairly-publicised move to New York between Red and 1989; so imo it's a fitting concept backed up by a mediocre song. That and "Clean" aside, this is most definitely her Teenage Dream. I mean that in both senses in that it's a STELLAR pop album and will almost certainly produce a number of hit singles, keeping her ubiquitous in 2015.
06.0 Welcome to New York

07.5 You Are In Love
11.0 New Romantics -- pop songs don't get more perfect than this, excellently written, produced and just *.*
That "ah-ah-ah" vocal hook in "New Romantics" is seriously breathtaking. I hope it becomes a late-era single. And yeah, this really is shaping up to be the biggest era in a couple years.
My new rating:
09.5 Welcome To New York - also amongst the lovers of this track, gets way too much hate!
10.0 Blank Space - I always liked it but it's properly HIT me now.
09.0 Style - also only just hit me, didn't really see the fuss before but I can just see it growing and growing
09.0 Out of the Woods
09.5 All You Had To Do Was Stay
10.0 Shake It Off

07.0 Clean
11.0 Wonderland - absolutely incredible and one of the best deluxe tracks I've ever heard.
06.5 You Are In Love

It's a thoroughly consistent album, and definitely her best yet (although I still prefer Love Story and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together to anything on here). Not sure how Clean made it on though, it sounds like a filler from her first album, albeit in less of a country style.

Arghhhhhhh I totally slated her when she came back with 'Shake It Off' which I stand by as I think it's just awful.
But the rest of the album is I can't turn it off.
Warming up to this record
So I'm listening to this for the 2nd time at last in my sisters car and I honestly don't know what planet I was on when I found it a bit meh at first but my god it's absolutely wonderful. Out of the woods and How you get the girl have grown on me hugely too.

No!! Red shits all over this album. Really poor effort. The next album sales will collapse as casual fans like me won't be gettin it after this mess.
Can we please Buffy/Charmed you off the site for these wrong opinions?
I was seriously disappointed listening to it after Ted was so good too.
Never did a rate for this:
05 Welcome to New York
08 Blank Space
11 Style — The 11 might just be an effect of Current Single Syndrome but I loved this from the moment I heard the snippet in the Target commercial. It's very much of a piece with "Love Me Harder" and "Jealous" (both of which I love) as far as recent hits go.
10 Out of the Woods
08 All You Had to Do Was Stay
05 Shake It Off
06 I Wish You Would
08 Bad Blood
09 Wildest Dreams
07 How You Get the Girl
06 This Love
07 I Know Places
09 Clean — Never fully appreciated this until now, it's gorgeous. Imogen's background vocals *.*
I'll do the bonus tracks later on.

Remix of 'Bad Blood' with Kanye West confirmed apparently! Really hope that means it's the next single and it's not just a random remix, 'Bad Blood' would be a perfect choice.
Bad Blood is trash compared to the rest of the album (especially Wildest Dreams and This Love )
She better not Katy Perry us () with 3 amazing single and then releasing the worst on the album
Bad blood would be a great single (though would prefer widest dreams, I know places, OOTW or New Romantics but BB is better than style)

This album is still so good! It's approaching 600,000 sales in the UK and is already Taylor's highest-selling album here!
She performed at the iHeartRadio Music Awards last night, winning three of the four awards that she was nominated for, and played guitar during Madonna's performance of "Ghosttown":

OMG she did an enchanted/wildest dreams mash up on the 1st of her tour- gosh this is so amazing and beautiful
Two of my favourite ever Taylor songs and it works so well
Hope she releases tour dvd as not able to get to see her this time
this has appeared under the 'new arrivals' section on her label's website. very good indicator it looks likely to be the next single.
thoughts?
Taylor's denied that this is a single and I expect she'd go for something off the standard album really (although she did release Ours from Speak Now which was a deluxe track so you never know!). It'd be a great single anyway and a nice change in pace and vibe from the last couple of singles.
Strange choice of single but I love the single so I would be happy with it! Out Of The Woods seems like an obvious snub though.
She also released the bonus tracks from her album as separate singles in the US.
Personally, I'd be cheering for this, but nothing's official until Taylor or someone from her team announces what it is.
This 99% won't be a single I don't think, as much as I'd love it. As someone on ATRL pointed out, apparently it's been there for a while - since they released the bonus tracks as singles in the US a few months ago. 'New Romantics' was the last of these and was tagged as 'New Romantics - Single' so that's where it will have come from!
I'll merge it back with the album topic for now, if it does turn out to be a single I'll split it back but I doubt it will be.
She better release Wish You Would as the summer single, followed by Wildes Dreams or This Love in october or something
Why would you say such a thing?
ARE WE OUT OF THE WOODS YET?!
I'm not sure what they'll choose as the next single, I think the likes of 'All You Had To Do Was Stay' and 'How You Get The Girl' would be solid successes yet won't get into many worldwide top 10s - along the lines of 'Style' perhaps. I think they'll probably go with 'Wildest Dreams', with a fabulous music video that could do very well! 'Out Of The Woods' is probably the obvious smash, but for some reason I feel it will be ignored.
New Romantics would be an AMAZING single OOTW is probaby objectively the best choice but personally I'd love New Romantics, All You Had To Do Was Stay, I Wish You Would or Wildest Dreams <3
OOTW plz
Wildest Dreams <3
heheh....best track is bad blood ft Kendrick lamar ,, number 2 on chart now
Out Of The Woods would make a really nice final single to end the era! I'd like to see another one or two more singles released before it
I have a feeling it'll be re-release time for Christmas now, with the Bad Blood remix and possibly a few new singles. I'd prefer 'Out Of the Woods' though, I don't think it'd do much more than Style did, but it's a lovely song.
New Romantics, OOTW, IKP and WD would be the ideal singles
SO apprantly Ryan Adams is covering and releasing every track on the album
Why?
He wants to make them better. You can hear snippets here. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2015/08/19/ryan-adams-1989-clips/
Did he really say he wants to "make them better"? Because lol.
Dear Reginald is just being a shady hoe
Heard about this a few weeks ago and hope it will be quite good

The Ryan Adams cover version comes out on Monday *.*
His cover of Bad Blood is painful
It's better than the original tbh. Also shows off how poor the lyrics are
lolno
I think Clean will work well, also maybe Out Of The Woods will be good to hear interpreted in that way. Maybe I WIsh You Would/All You Had To Do Was Stay/This Love/You Are In Love too but the latter is painfully dull in the first place anyway.
The bad blood cover is great *.*
I like this Ryan Adams' album. Taylor's covers aren't very good. Get yo own material Taylor
I find Ryan Adams' covers album so limp. I listened to Shake it Off, Welcome to New York and Bad Blood...He sucked the life from the the songs sound so uneventful, and it sounds like it was recorded in his basement. I've liked his music in the past but this...
He was never gonna recreate them in the same way though his music nowadays has that stripped back and retro feel to it. I love the new take on the songs,
many of them are better than the originals.
Checked the whole thing out and think he does good versions of "Style" and "Wildest Dreams".
An absolutely fascinating mini-documentary type series about the creation of 1989 including never seen before videos and voice memos!

I could listen to Taylor explaining all the tiny details in each of her tracks all day, her musical knowledge is incredible!
Very pleased with this album! Red was great but this one blew me away
Out of the Woods is getting released as the follow up to 'Wildest Dreams'. Perfect way to round of the era I'd imagine for most of you
Yessss! I wish it was released earlier though, as it's very unlikely to do anything this far into the campaign. Unless its a Calvin Harris remix. It's better than Style and Bad Blood for me and SO much better than Wildest Dreams.
Can't wait for a video <3
YESSSSSS
I wonder if she's been reading the forum
I am so over the moon about this. Of course it's at least two singles later than it should have been but better late than never.
It wouldn't have been right for this not to have single status.
Really milked this era haven't they?
Absolutely ecstatic at OOTW being announced as the next single. Really hope we get another brillkant video for it and not just some lazy tour footage video. I agree that it's possibly a bit too late into the era for it to have any real effect, but at this point I'd be happy with top 40.
Best song on the album for me. Over the moon! I hope the video doesn't disappoint! (although I can see it being similar to Style)
I won't hold my breath but imagine a Calvin Harris remix of OOTW?
Thank gosh for that, one of the three standouts on the album that hasn't been released as a single yet so great choice
Hopefully she can get an X-Factor final performance with this!
To be honest I still wouldn't mind if All You Had To Do Was Stay, Wonderland, How You Get The Girl and New Romantics were all released... I'm sure the radios probably would mind though.
How You Get the Girl should've been released ages ago. Absolute tune.
The 1989 world tour is premièring on Apple Music on December 20th
So happy I renewed my account by accident now!
"New Romantics" should have been released. OOTW is blegh and repetitive.
i must be in a piss-poor mood today. Listen! Kelly Clarkson had, and still has, better pipes than the highly-overrated Taylor Swift.
Taylor can sing?
Just watched the 1989 World Tour on Apple Music, what an absolutely fantastic show it was! The way it was filmed was absolutely fantastic, visually stunning. With lots of mini-interviews and clips of special guests from other tours included too, the film runs at over 2 hours but it went so so quickly!
Taylor was incredible as expected, there were lots of highlights and I can't list them all but a few of the surprises were the performances of I Know Places (this had such a great production and concept, I can now envisage this as a hit single!), You Are In Love (the involvement of the crowd was mesmerising) and Wildest Dreams/Enchanted (I'd forgot these two were mashed up, and it was fantastic). And Out of the Woods at the end was a major goosebumps moment, and Shake It Off in the encore was insanely good.
All the performances combined with what was like a mini documentary makes this so so worth the £9.99 Apple Music membership for a month, so I'd really recommend you do so and give this a watch. I hope it gets released on DVD too next year as I'd love to have it to keep!
Apparently New Romantics is the 7th single to be released from 1989, according to https://twitter.com/javajoel/status/700486002683441153. Not sure how accurate this is so I've hesitated on making a thread for it. Would be good if it's true though, as it's my favourite AT along with All You Had to Do Was Stay
With it being summer 2016, I've been thinking about what to expect from Taylor in terms of new music. Of course long-time fans know that in the past she has stuck to a consistent release strategy with a lead single in July/August and an album following in October/November on every even numbered year since 2006. That would of course mean that sticking to that strategy would mean a new single within the next 2 months.
As 1989 was such a massive era and the longest era she has had, I can't see her sticking to that strategy this time round unfortunately. I think the next studio album will probably appear in late 2017 with a lead single in the summer, so the same strategy but just a year late.
But, after reading other forums too, I think it would be absolutely perfect for Taylor to release a Greatest Hits album for this year. She could still give us a new single in August/September and a Greatest Hits album seems like the perfect way to celebrate 10 years since her first album release seeing as she won't have time for a full album. Rumour has it that her original contract with Big Machine was either five or six studio albums AND a greatest hits album, so what better time to tick that greatest hits album off this year?
I really hope this happens, I can't go an even numbered year without a single new Taylor song and with her at the peak of her popularity (probably ever, 1989 was a once-in-a-career album era like Teenage Dream was for Katy) it would be the perfect time to introduce her country songs to an audience that won't be as familiar with them bar the Love Storys and the You Belong With Mes of course. Go on Taylor you know you want to!
I was half expecting another single announcement with the topic bump!
I'm sure once she's humped and dumped Hiddles she'll have enough material for a new album, especially with the Calvin drama.
I finally watched the 1989 tour documentary after finding it on YouTube!!! (When I had my Apple Music subscription it would never work despite trying at least over 20 times to watch it ). SO SO GOOD <3 every performance was incredible (bar love Story, that new version was not the tea x) and I loved it *.*
Also HOW TF did I not know or forgot Taylor & Idina performed Let It Go together!!!! And her vocals slayed the see you again performance, I would love to hear Taylor do the chorus in studio form *.*

4x platinum 💗💗💗💗
Relistening to this again after a while away from it and honestly, still one of the best pop albums of recent time. Near perfection.
Listened to Style a few times today. So catchy, used to always skip this
It's the best song on the album for me! Overtaken Wildest Dreams x
#97 this week in the UK. Amazing to see it top 100 again it was #99 last week too.
Hopefully it should rise this week too with the release of Lover.
Really need to listen to this as a whole again to do a proper rate of it.
It’s definitely one of my favourite albums of the decade though and the era where the singles were picked fantastically.
One of the best pop eras for singles.
There's not a single dud on this album. Her magnum opus forever and ever
A classic 💗💗💗 I still go back to SIO, wildest dreams, I know places, New Romantics, blank space, bad blood remix, OOTW and Yh pretty much the whole album all the time <3
Listened to this in full today and it still sounds very very good!
Wonderland really hit me on today’s listen
#63 on UK iTunes! The deluxe is currently £5.99
I just got the vinyl for this today.

10 facts about the Shake It Off video: https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2566381/taylor-swift-shake-it-off--behind-the-scenes-facts-about-music-video-1989-album
Second album done.
I went into 1989 expecting it to be a fully fledged pop record and I don’t think I was wrong.
It sure is a departure from Speak Now (and her first two albums which I haven’t heard for about a decade).
Overall I really enjoyed it and I even like Shake It Iff more than I did before.
I think 1989 is her highest selling in Australia. I’m pretty sure it’s certified Diamond.
It’ll be either Fearless TV or Red TV next I can’t decide. Will probably,y wait til the new year to start though.
"Style" has re-entered this week's chart at #93. Its first appearance in the chart since July 2015.
