Doncaster Rovers have appointed former West Brom boss Darren Moore as the new manager of the League One club.
Moore has been out of work since being sacked by the Baggies in March, when they were fourth in the Championship.
The former Doncaster centre-back replaces Grant McCann, who left Rovers for Hull City in May after a year in charge at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The December takeover of Bury, who are in extreme financial distress under the owner Steve Dale, was completed without being approved by the EFL under its regulations, the league has said.
Dale took the club over for £1 from Stewart Day, who had taken out loans secured on its Gigg Lane ground and run the club at a loss, and whose property development companies were about to collapse into administration.
Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has been charged with causing actual bodily harm following a post-match incident in the tunnel at Barnsley on 13 April.
Police say the incident, after the Tykes beat Fleetwood 4-2 in a League One game at Oakwell, left a man with facial injuries.
Barton has previously "emphatically denied" accusations he confronted Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel.
The 36-year-old has been bailed until 9 October.
Bury are to be deducted 12 points by the English Football League after the club's creditors approved a rescue plan to clear some of the Shakers' debts.
Bolton Wanderers have cancelled a second friendly fixture, as they are unable to fulfil Tuesday's game against Preston North End at Leyland.
It follows last Friday's called-off pre-season match at Chester.
Bolton Wanderers' takeover by Football Ventures (Whites) Limited is set to be completed by the end of the week.
The company, registered in January with the purpose of buying the club, was named preferred bidder at the start of July and BBC Radio Manchester reports the deal is close to being finalised.
Bolton have been in administration since 13 May and will start the League One season with a 12-point deduction.
Meanwhile, the club have had Saturday's pre-season game at Oldham cancelled.
It is Wanderers' third friendly to be cancelled after the Latics chose to find another opponent "due to the doubt of the original fixture going ahead".
Fingers crossed for Bolton’s new owners being an improvement on the previous ones.
Bury's opening League One game, at home to Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday, has been suspended - but Bolton Wanderers' match at Wycombe can go ahead.
The Shakers failed to meet Monday's 17:00 BST deadline set by the English Football League for Bury and Bolton to show evidence of financial viability.
However, the EFL said it had suspended the Bury game "reluctantly".
Bolton's submissions satisfied the EFL that they can meet the requirements of the league, with a takeover expected.
Both teams have already been deducted 12 points from the new League One table and both were given extended deadlines by the EFL to prove that they had made sufficient progress behind the scenes.
Bury's second match of the season, at Accrington on 10 August, is also under threat, while it is understood the Gigg Lane outfit will now be referred to an independent disciplinary panel.
Can't ever remember an incident like this before, well, not at the start of the season at least!
No, me either. Not sounding good at all for Bury. Very worrying times for them.
Bury's second game of the season has been suspended as well.
Some interesting opening day results in the games that did take place though, Sunderland were held to a draw by Oxford United and Portsmouth were beaten by Shrewsbury.
I fancy Lincoln this season, I could see them comfortably in the playoffs.
Bury have been given 14 days to avoid being expelled from the EFL after having their Carabao Cup tie with Sheffield Wednesday suspended.
The EFL previously called off Bury's games against MK Dons and Accrington.
The League One club had been given a deadline of Wednesday to show the EFL a plan to pay off outstanding creditors.
Even more worrying times for Bury as they have a fourth game called off.
Surely this can't go on much longer!?
The sale of financially troubled Bolton Wanderers appears ready to go through after the court order blocking a takeover was adjourned.
The order issued by Laurence Bassini was also amended, with the injunction now between him and a company owned by ex-Bolton chairman Ken Anderson.
The case relates to a failed bid by Bassini to buy the club from Anderson.
Having proceedings adjourned until 2 September paves the way for Football Ventures to complete a deal.
The issue of the court order of 8 August suspended the already protracted takeover of the League One club, with Bolton's joint administrator Paul Appleton saying the sale had been "on the brink on completion" at the time.
Bury's away fixture against Rotherham on Tuesday has been suspended by the English Football League - their fifth successive game to be called off.
Remarkable radio before as TalkSport got Bury owner 'Steve Dale' and player 'Stephen Dawson' on at the same time.
Bolton's game tomorrow night has been postponed because of concerns over the players' welfare. They were thumped 5-0 on Saturday with a side made up mostly of academy players.
Welfare?
Yeh that's what first came into my head and was wondering if that would be the case.
Bury's match against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday has become the Shakers' sixth game to be suspended, while Steve Dale has rejected an offer to buy the club.
Bury, who could be expelled from the English Football League on Friday, have also been removed from the Carabao Cup.
Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson and assistant Steve Parkin have resigned from their positions with the beleaguered League One club.

Bolton Wanderers are on the brink of liquidation after the latest takeover deal to buy the club collapsed.
The League One club has until 17:00 BST on Tuesday to complete the sale or offer reasons for an extension, or face expulsion from the EFL.
The Football League have already said that only one team would drop out of League 2 if Bury were thrown out, If both Bolton and Bury go, that would probably mean no teams relegated from League 2.
Bury are facing expulsion from the English Football League after the company attempting to buy the club, C&N Sporting Risk, said it was unable to proceed with its takeover.
The League One Shakers had been given until 17:00 BST on Tuesday to complete the deal.
Bury would become the first team to drop out of the EFL since Maidstone's liquidation in 1992.
The EFL said it "continues to be in discussions" ahead of the deadline.
Pretty unsavoury countdown timer on sky sports news for the time when they would go out of business. They're part of the problem after all!
Bury have been expelled from the Football League.
This is very sad to hear, which league are Bury going to end up in now?
I can imagine that if they go completely out of business then a new fan made version of team will be created like what happened to Halifax Town & Aldershot FC.
I imagine that Bury FC will go into liquidation fairly swiftly, with the remaining assets, including the stadium, being bought up at a fairly cheap price, which can be used by a continuity Bury FC (either rented from the new buyer or bought outright by a trust for use be the NewCo). They'll likely use a slightly different name for a few years (like AFC Bury), before quietly changing to Bury FC a few years down the line. They'll probably start in one of the Lancashire non-league divisions, although they'll rise through the ranks swiftly if they can hold on to their fans.
Hopefully they will rise as a phoenix club. Some harrowing words from callers on talkSPORT. This is really bad. Surely now there has to be a overhaul of the 'fit and proper' test with new prospective owners taking over clubs.
How did Ken Anderson become Bolton owner and pass the 'fit and proper 'test with being banned from a director of a UK company for 8 years, that's pretty f***ed up.
If Bolton go out of business that will be truly shocking to me as I remember them being in the Premier League not too long ago. All of this shows that you never know what is around the corner a few years down the line in football.
Speaking as a fan of a team who has had this happen to us, it’s very sad to see this happen and I have a hell of a lot of sympathy for them but I’m sure Bury will come back as a pheonix team.
The first years after reformation were the best years I’ve ever had as a Chester fan. The crowds were huge and the atmosphere was so much better than it was when we were a football league team when I was young. Admittedly, this was helped by the fact we won the title in each of our 3 seasons but getting back to the National League and beating Wrexham felt so sweet.
It’s a disgrace that’s it’s come to this and it will hurt the Bury fans a lot but they seem to have dedicated fans and I have no doubt they will start again as a fan owned club and make a success of it.
I really hate these crook owners that the EFL just seem to let to come and ruin clubs in this way.
This has been a shambles, I have been following this story on the news and it is a sad time for all concerned. I too hope Bury can rise again as a phoenix club.
Hope we're not doing this in a fortnight's time for Bolton.
A real shame for Bury, no team deserves this but it is sadly what happens. Hope Bolton can be saved somehow.
Fortunately Bolton's survival has been secured.
Bolton Wanderers' survival has been secured after Football Ventures (Whites) Limited completed its protracted takeover of the club.
Administrators had warned the club could be placed into liquidation on Wednesday without a finalised takeover.
That is good news to hear.
Bury threaten the EFL with legal action.

Jack Ross has been sacked as manager of League One club Sunderland.
Saturday's defeat at Lincoln City left the Black Cats sixth in the table after 11 games of the season played.
Ross took over at the Stadium of Light in May 2018 and led them to the finals of the EFL Trophy and League One play-offs last season, losing to Portsmouth and Charlton respectively.
Sunderland chairman Stewart Donald told the club website: "This is a decision that has been made with a heavy heart."
Sunderland have been underperforming under Jack Ross and I imagine this season is important for them to be promoted. If I was Sunderland, I’d push the boat out because none of them sound really appealing minus hughton.
Oops just seen they only lost 10 games in 18 months and only lost fewer than City and Liverpool.
drew a lot though!
Phil Parkinson was named as the new manager of Sunderland.
Sol Campbell has been named boss of League One strugglers Southend United on a contract until 2022.
Campbell's former Portsmouth team-mate Hermann Hreidarsson and ex-Manchester United striker Andy Cole will form part of his coaching team at Roots Hall.
Southend have one league win this term and have been without a full-time boss since Kevin Bond left on 6 September.
Sol Campbell did a decent job at Macclesfield, so he could prove to be a good appointment for Southend. My grandfather was a supporter.
He'll have a job as Southend lost 7-1 to Doncaster Rovers. Southend did go down to nine men.
Wally Downes has been sacked as AFC Wimbledon boss over breaching betting rules.
Firstly, banned for four weeks.

Glyn Hodges has taken over as permanent manager after being caretaker during the suspension of his former boss.

One thing that surprises me about this story is that he has been guilty of a similar offence before when he was with QPR. I thought the penalty would have been harsher based on that.
Bolton Wanderers claimed their first League One victory of the season at the 12th attempt, winning 2-0 at Bristol Rovers. They move to -5 but 18 points adrift in the relegation zone.
A supporter has been arrested after Wycombe goalkeeper Ryan Allsop reported alleged homophobic after their win at Tranmere.
Bolton have been given a five-point deduction, suspended for 18 months, for failing to fulfil fixtures against Brentford last season and Doncaster this term.
Wanderers were due to play the Bees on 27 April but players refused to play the fixture over unpaid wages.
The club postponed their game against Doncaster on 20 August over welfare concerns for youth players.
A 12-point deduction was already given for entering administration in May.
They weren't so close to getting into the positive points in he league too lol.
Not a good time for Bolton, let's hope somehow they can pull something together for the club.
This punishment is suspended for 18 months and Bolton are on positive points. It would have been very harsh if this had been given immediately given all the hard work that has been put in by the team on the pitch under the guidance of Keith Hill and his coaching team.
They were also fined £20,000 for the Brentford fixture and £50,000 for the Doncaster fixture. Half of both of these are also suspended for 18 months.
Managerial change that has occurred in League One here.
Graham Coughlan has left Bristol Rovers and has since joined League Two side Mansfield.
Ben Garner has replaced him.
Billy Kee has retired after struggling with his health. Accrington Stanley have retired the 29 shirt.

Bury Football Club have defaulted on a plan to help settle their outstanding debts, an insolvency firm appointed by owner Steve Dale has confirmed.
Creditors approved a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) proposal in July which would have seen the club's football creditors paid in full.
Fleetwood Town boss Joey Barton has been charged by the Football Association for allegedly using abusive language towards a match official.
Barton was sent off in the 94th minute of their League One victory against Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday.
Rochdale and Tranmere Rovers has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth - the longest-serving manager in the English Football League - has signed a new "long-term" contract with the club.
The former Chairboys and QPR player, 46, has been in charge of the League One side since September 2012.
Fleetwood Town boss Joey Barton has been given a two-game touchline ban after being found guilty of using abusive language towards an official.
Gap of three points between second and eighth place, certainly tight in the race for promotion and the play-off places.
A winding-up petition brought by HM Revenue & Customs against League One club Southend United has been adjourned until 29 April.
The club appeared at the Insolvency and Companies Court in London on Wednesday over an unpaid tax bill.
It was not revealed at the hearing how much the third-tier club owes.
The Shrimpers, managed by former England defender Sol Campbell, are second from bottom and 16 points from safety with nine games left to play.
Had they been put into administration, it would have triggered a 12-point deduction from the English Football League, a sanction which would have resulted in Southend's relegation to League Two being confirmed.
Players at League One leaders Coventry City have "unanimously agreed" to take a 25% wage deferral because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Accrington Stanley are consulting with lawyers and accountants to separate the club from the stadium as a financial security measure for both entities, says chairman Andy Holt.
Stanley have informed the English Football League and Hyndburn Borough Council about the proposal.
Holt hopes the move would protect the long-term future of the club, during and beyond the coronavirus lockdown.
The club acquired ownership of the stadium in December 2018.
Nigel Clough is to step down as manager of League One club Burton Albion and will be replaced by Jake Buxton.
Ouch at Sunderland
The first time Coventry have finished in the top five of any division for over 50 years apparently.

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that they will not be offering new contracts to manager Keith Hill and assistant David Flitcroft when their current deals expire at the end of the month.
It really doesn't feel a minute since Bolton were in the Premier League!
Bolton Wanderers have named Barrow boss Ian Evatt as their new head coach.
The 38-year-old, who guided the Cumbrian side to League Two as National League champions, has signed a deal until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
He will face his old side next season after Bolton went down from League One.
Wycombe Wanderers comfortably beat nine-man Fleetwood Town in an extraordinary League One play-off semi-final which produced three goals in the first six minutes it finished 4-1.
That was one of my favourite games post lockdown - Paddy Madden came on as a sub and lasted 18 minutes before getting his second yellow card, one for diving and one for dissent.
There was a lot of bite to the game and the second leg should be brillant.
The second legs ended with a 1-1 draw between Oxford and Pompey with Oxford winning on penalties. Wycombe and Fleetwood played out a 2-2 draw meaning Wycombe won 6-3 on aeg so the League One playoff final will be a fascinating game between Wycombe Wanderers and Oxford United so there is gauranteed to be a 'smaller' club in the second tier next season with Wycombe never being at that level before and Oxford not being there since the 1990s? (At a guess)!
Wycombe now just 45 minutes away from being in the second tier for the first time in their history.
Sykes levels for Oxford United to make it 1-1.
Hoping it's Wycombe! Local team and they used to do loads of skill schools and training camps when I was younger!
yaaaay Wycombe! First time they've ever been in the 2nd tier apparently!
Some achievement and some job Gareth Ainsworth has done in getting Wycombe promoted. Well done to them.
Wonder if they will have any money to spend or if they'll be like Yeovil a few years back(who are now in the National League) and not invest.
Huge acheivemdnt though as they have one of the lowest budgets in the third tier and were In the amateur leagues below the old conference up until the 70s.
From what Ainsworth was saying post match, I don't think there will be much in the way of player movements.
Well done to Wycombe, very impressive.
