Its still possible for Jonas Blue to get to no.1 next week if Major Lazer fails. Now getting over 300k on Spotify. Very possible for him to get 60k+ if his iTunes lead holds.

I would be quite shocked if anyone's even close to Major Lazer - let's remember that What Do You Mean? opened with 83k and Sorry opened with 101k! I'm not sure this will do that much but it should be a comfortable #1 I think. Both Major Lazer and Justin are massive on streams!

Have Major Lazer ever been at #1 on iTunes before? they might do it for the first time if not although i think Lean On might have got there but i'm not sure about that.

Being "album only" doesn't mean the songs won't get a boost tbf, people will just have to take a couple of extra clicks to get the song. It may reduce the boost but I'm sure album only songs have had boosts still before!

Britney and Katy Perry rose just as fast this, if you look at the timeline by 8:30am they also were in the mid 20s, neither went anywhere in the charts this week.

I'd honestly rather Drake for another week I still really like One Dance tbh, Cold Water is really quite dull. It's not awful but it's so lazy, it's just Waves in the verses with Major Lazer on autopilot for the chorus.

Major Lazer will likely debut in the top 5 on streams then climb to #1 the following week, but its sales lead should ensure it goes to #1 officially.

Top 5 would equate to 20k-25k stream sales, meaning he would require 35k-40k digital sales.

Wish he would have made it a trance record though like his early stuff.

sucked all of the emotion out of it, I feel like it'll be a similar case here but then I haven't heard it so can't judge. Not that Calum's original version comes close to the CHART SAVIOUR anyway

Looking more likely with Jonas Blue back to 59p its him that Major Lazer/Bieber are going to have to beat. Solid 330k streams for him today, only 100k behind One Dance now. The 59p effect is making him extend his lead over Drake. Looking in the region of 62k-65k for him next week possibly.

While I've got a few minutes, delighted to see Major Lazer getting #1 on iTunes, looks set in stone to be #1 next week, bit frightening though, got potential to stay there for 10 weeks plus and try to beat Bryan Adams in the process, but that's another 4 months, (Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov) surely something big will drop along the way, otherwise we have a total of 8/ 9 #1s of 2016

Looking at the iTunes chart, it looks like (unless a huge name is involved) a track basically has to be reduced to 59p to take off these days - half of the top 20 are currently at 59p. Whilst it's good that they're (mostly) giving boosts to new tracks, it's looking like reducing the standard price would be a good idea to convince people to buy more music. Apple might never actually go through with this, but from the artist's point of view, considering how little revenue they apparently get from streaming, I'd imagine most would be happy with this.

How is an initial demand surge for a newly released single any indication whatsoever of it remaining at number 1 for 10 weeks?
Besides by selling double Jonas Blue it is only really selling about 8-9K. Massive by today's standards but unless supported by strong streaming will easily become quite vulnerable when that initial surge dies down.

I'm still confident of Major Lazer making it at the current moment, it will drop for a bit now but it has huuuuge airplay lined up for the week which most new songs don't get instantly so it will level off quickly. I doubt it will even drop from #1 on iTunes. And that's without its likely great streams

Yes it's used on a Fiat advert which contains a huge Shazam logo next to it so I imagine a lot of folk are finding out about it that way!

Bob Marley now up to #55. It's doing well on streaming too, so hopefully will get a 59p reduction and will crack the Top 40. It's a really good remix to be fair!
