BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ BuzzJack's Male Artist Slamdown - Who's Your Supreme Man

Posted by: Leonardo2505 1st August 2010, 09:36 PM

Now we've crowned Lady GaGa, the top female artist, the time has come to decide her male equivalent, please leave a list of your 30 nominated men in a post and I'll get back with the Top 100, which, shall then decide the victor! All genres are welcome, dead or alive, mega-famous or rarely known, basically the man who does it for you!

RULES

1) Leave a list of 30 nominated men, in order of your preference, from 1 (30 points) to 30 (1 point). If you can't think of 30, post less :-)
2) All male singers/rappers are welcome, whether they be solo, part of a duo, or a performer in a group.
3) The singer (or band if you prefer) will have had a charting single/album in the UK Top 100, Irish Top 100 or American Billboard Chart.
4) Each member can vote once, and only vote for a performer once.
5) No joint positions, and try to give the artist's recording name, although if your voting for Sean "Daddy-Diddy" Combs, this may prove to be difficult.
6) Voting closes at midnight on the 14th August, so plenty of time!
7) Private message votes are acceptable, also please contact me with any questions you may have. biggrin.gif

So let's be having them votes then. Who do you want: Eminem, Enrique, Lennon, Sinatra, Presley, Gaye...Bieber. The possibilites are endless and quite frankly scary.

GET VOTING!

This is actually supremely difficult to nominate. I've personally decided to go with solo artists except in the case of supremely important and gifted lead singers as lets face it as solid a lead singer as, for example, Brandon Flowers or Jarvis Cocker are they are nothing next to giants of music like Kurt Cobain or Jimi Hendrix are they?

interesting, will vote soon biggrin.gif

Now this will be interesting, my imidiate guess for a winner would be someone like Ne-Yo or DeRulo but it'll probably be rather unpredictable.

I shall wait a while before posting my nominations. I've compiled a list of all the major male artists on my I-Tunes but frankly im embarassed to post it, so I shall have to take inspiration from some of the other lists

I'm not quite sure how to do that, but if somebody, would like to as long as I know where it is to count votes.

This was actually really difficult. When I think of male acts, I actually tend to think of bands more, and I'm not sure whether there's much value in voting for the lead singers of Feeder or Keane. OH WELL

So far we have 187 different artists, groups and uncharting acts have been disqualified, a score of 25 is needed to get into the current 100, there are 14 acts with over 100 points, and two with over 200!

I don't get it. Why do you think that? It wasn't like that in the female one. If I'm gonna do this, then I'm gonna have to check whether artists charted somehow on the Internet. Why can't we just nominate those whose music WE ENJOY? It doesn't matter if they have had chart success. That's like saying people are not allowed to give credit to people whose music they like if they have not had success chart wise. Charts aren't everything.

Ok, but can you private message me the orignal post/updated post, so I know what to deduct and add :-)

Posted by: Leonardo2505 3rd August 2010, 09:56 PM

Just to be clear this is to get into the top 100, which will then be submitted in alphabetical order, then you will be able to rank your top 25, from said Top 100 and also be able to give a Bitch Slap* to one of the artists to deduct 3 point from their total. then I will reveal the hundred in a similar style to the Female List, I will be doing research on the top 100 artists in order to provide adequate commentary, although I know most of the top 100 so far quite well. The final vote will probably start straight after the closing on this vote stops on the 15th August 11:59PM, leaving another two weeks for the rest of the votes, I will reveal the countdown v. early September! Thanks for the votes so far very interesting and eclectic mix!

I don't understand this: All genres are welcome, dead or alive, mega-famous or rarely known, basically the man who does it for you! OK, great, but why do they have to have charted then? What is expressed here gives the impression that any man can be nominated, which is how it should be.

I'm just expressing my very strong opinion, this is a forum after all! And I have not been known to express opinions much! And why can't you nominate the bloke who sings locally or the busker? Ok, maybe that's going a bit too far, so in that case, in my opinion the only rule should be that the man has released music. This whole thing is for a list to show what male singers the members of this forum like! I'm not gonna not like an artist just because he has never had a Top 100 hit! It just doesn't matter!

Right, i understand your point of view, but along with colaberating data, I want to give information/picture/commentary on each top 100 artist, if an artist has charted in the top 100 of either albums or singles in the UK, US or Ireland, then there are lots of banks of data available to me, and much more easier to research artists that are less known to me. If i have this rule, then even when I didn't know the artist, I can find online information, which I've already used to check that every artist has been in the charts, which is relatively easy to do with both wikipedia and various chart sites! So far I have only found one act, who couldn't qualify, (nearly two until I remembered Olly Murs, has actually preformed on the X Factor 2009 number one single.). If you have some artists who you are not sure, whether they have charted or not, PM me and I will get back to you.
