Eliminated:
11. Violet Hill (6/26 votes, 23.08%) Just before the top 10, we lose the opening single from their fourth album, Viva la Vida long name, etc. and while it was certainly eclipsed by the single that's followed it ultimately, it's difficult to forget that this was still quite an eyebrow-raiser at the time. It was a song that the band had penned way prior to its release and its lyrics reflect an anti-war message and a far darker attitude than their previously released with such soundbites 'carnival of idiots on show' and 'the fox became God' (both inspired by when Martin was watching Bill O'Reilly on Fox News). It is very diverse musically as well, featuring crashing guitars that build in intensity, screeching falsetto and ending on a quiet piano. It was released initially as a free download where it was downloaded over two million times but was eventually officially released and charted at number 8 here, but more chart success would await them. I confess I mainly go to the excellent Pendulum version of this more so than the original, but I do appreciate this a lot for being their first real experiment in sound and it's held up rather well over the years, I'd say this is about the right position for this. 11. Violet Hill (6/26 votes, 23.08%) 12. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall (6/28 votes, 21.43%) 13. Midnight (7/25 votes, 28%) 14. Adventure of a Lifetime (10/28 votes, 35.71%) 15. Magic (7/29 votes, 24.14%) 16. A Sky Full of Stars (6/24 votes, 25%) 17. Princess of China (8/33 votes, 25.81%) 18. Orphans (9/28 votes, 32.14%) 19. Hymn for the Weekend (10/26 votes, 38.46%) 20. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face (12/38 votes, 32.43%) 21. Charlie Brown (10/34 votes, 10%) (18/28 votes in tiebreak) 22. Christmas Lights (10/34 votes, 10%) (19/28 votes in tiebreak) 23. Up&Up (11/34, 11%) 24. Shiver (7/31, 9.59%) (Less votes in previous rounds) 25. Lost! (7/31, 9.59%) 26. Everglow (13/31, 17.81%) 27. Life in Technicolor II (9/32, 14.06%) 28. Atlas (12/32, 18.75%) 29. Something Just Like This (w/ The Chainsmokers) (9/29, 14.06%) 30. Miracles (Someone Special) (w/ Big Sean) (11/29, 17.19%) And we are into the top 10! Please vote for your least favourite from above, we are running into Christmas now so the next round will go up next weekend so plenty of time to vote x Merry Christmas |

Violet Hill is one of their best, top 5 for sure. Very standout in their discography & leagues ahead of VLV the single.
Paradise to go... |

'Violet Hill' is probably the next song I'd have voted for after 'Trouble', but it's still a fantastic song that didn't deserve to be overshadowed so heavily by VLV.

what has Trouble done to you all? it's a fantastic song
the 3 singles from X&Y are the worst 3 songs left by far, especially the U2-copycat-song Speed of Sound |

With regret I’ve had to vote ‘Talk’. It’s done very well to get Top 10.
