Shane said early this year in a radio interview that the single will be a summer release. I thought it will be this month. So we just have to wait until September.maybe. and his wife said he's been working hard for the past six months.

Posted by: Charis 27th June 2021, 03:13 PM

They were deffinitely supposed to release a single along with the Wembley concerts but now we dont know. I hope they will be more focused on music since there will be no touring for the next 12 months

Posted by: Charis 4th July 2021, 11:12 AM

Seriously where are they???

Posted by: zeze88 5th July 2021, 12:14 AM

Just because they are quiet at the moment doesn't mean they aren't working. Since album is probably being released in November, they aren't rushing with the singles, maybe they are planning a September/October release, maybe even simply November so it comes out a week or two before the album.

that doesnt make much sense nowadays... it's all about the most you can have consumed.. It's only normal to have your fans consuming constantly, otherwise u become irrelevant. more singles more sales. there is no no.1 or top 10 streak..

They've been off work for 1.5 years now... I remember seeing some photos of them recording in Jan 2020. The frustration of the fans is starting to be justified. there is no enthousiasm really...

I am pretty sure they can still secure Top 15 without heavy promo in advance, especially for a lead single. Even Better Man managed #13 and that song was just average and it was a 2nd single. Having a #1 single for Westlife is simply not possible so no need to bend over backwards for something that won't happen. Westlife are veterans in the music business and having very high expectations is pointless in my opinion.

Posted by: Charis 5th July 2021, 12:30 PM

No no i do not have any high expectation. as i said we should have something to consume the last 1.5 year.... Years dont go backwards....

PS: Better man peaked at No26, only Hello My Love with all the push got to No13... Since then only My Blood managed to enter the charts at #96.

Oh yeah I mixed things up. I am just happy we are getting an album, I don't care much about anything else. They don't really owe us anything and a lot of people dealt with COVID differently so maybe they didn't feel like doing anything.

I think we should get a single in Aug or Sept the max…. It only makes sense from a lot of viewpoints…… Westlife should not forget that they sold around ~600k singles from Spectrum ehile they only did ~180k of spectrum… so if they want to keep fixing their sold records total they know the way forward and they shouldnt sct like we are in the 00’s

I think Covid situation shouldn't be ignored, we shouldn't grasp at that sentence they haven't even said, it was their spokesman based on their, at the time, upcoming stadium gigs and even an American small tour. Plans obviously changed and I am not surprised at all. Besides, that was reported in March so only 4 months has passed in that 18 months cycle, maybe they are planning more which they haven't revealed yet.

As for 2 years being inactive, its not their fault they couldn't tour last year and they released 3 singles from 2019 album, so its not like they could have one anything before the new album. They are making the album now and we will get it soon enough.

Posted by: Charis 29th July 2021, 11:21 AM

I would expect a lot more music wise. There are a lot of artists who released music the last year. Assuming also the concert cancellation gave them even more free time… anyway its mostly concerning because what we understand from all this is that Westlife cannot be sustainable with no tour and also pressumably the deal with the new company does not include 4 singles/music videos like the one in virgin smile.gif :/

Posted by: Charis 29th July 2021, 11:30 AM

Westlife / BTS is kind of trending in twitter. Do u think there might be a chance for a collaboration?

Posted by: zeze88 30th July 2021, 06:32 AM

That would be great for Westlife but I kind of doubt it.

Yes, its true many released music but many also didn't. I wasn't even expecting an album in 2020 pandemic or no, they said they won't overwork themselves with an album per year and that is perfectly ok.

Posted by: myxxd 30th July 2021, 07:43 AM

They'll be part of Radio 2 Live in Belfast to celebrate the comeback of live music on August 26, Thursday. Maybe a new single will be released or already released during that time ☺️

I guess they are showing their support to the people who are helping through this pandemic. Hello My Love is an odd choice to use it for that but then again, it was their latest popular single and I can't think of other song that would fit better anyway. But yeah, I guess they will release something soon, its a goo move to promo the new single on this upcoming Radio 2 event.

The recent song uploads since last year were like for some kind of playlist in YouTube. It looks like the playlists in Amazon etc

We are really getting close to the new release. "Before you know it" maybe this Friday hahah or new plans for the tour or album. I have been looking for some clues but unsuccessful to achieve some results so far haha. But I have
Seen a song title posted that I have never seen before in lyrics.com or sites like that. It starts with letter W. I don't want to post something about it but I just did now haha because that is not a reliable official source. So just take it with a pinch of salt lol

Posted by: Charis 10th August 2021, 11:16 AM

so what is the song name? tongue.gif

Posted by: Charis 15th August 2021, 11:41 PM

Shouldnt they releaae music already? It is getting very close to the Radio 2 concert but no signs….

PS: if they plan to challenge for the album #1 they should start promoting already or even release it a bit earlier than November. I would expect a lot of competition this year

Posted by: myxxd 16th August 2021, 03:12 PM

Check out Jodi's instastory. If that clip is for a music video, single might be out next month

Nicky's Instagram post is funny. Its cool they managed to record everything separately and remotely.

Posted by: Charis 22nd August 2021, 11:07 PM

Yeah a bit of a shame although I think they will deffinitely sing Helloy My Love and one of My Blood / Better man. Or they might even do a small medley, similar to frank sinatra album and no1s tour

Posted by: zeze88 24th August 2021, 01:17 PM

They released a photo that looks like they are making an announcement - hopefully they will share a video soon.

I would expect to hear from them by now. They are singing live tonight right? No new music either ??

Maybe on TV. I havent heard any info about any new song, so that means still no music even till sept 10?? Whats their plan really? No wonder the deal they did is not going to let them release 4 singles again - since all of them together barely sold a million which is poor deffonitely - but will this be an 1 single album or what ?

Posted by: myxxd 27th August 2021, 01:14 AM

Only 4 songs had been confirmed by some fans so far. Steps have 7 or 8 songs and they are on the same event. 68000 have applied to be in that event, only 150 have been chosen. Hopefully we can get more information soon.

Posted by: zeze88 27th August 2021, 02:48 AM

I doubt it will be on TV because the poster says
listen and stream. I hope they will have at least more than 1 single. I guess the label is not willing to tarnish the amazing chart run they had which I honestly always found ridiculous, they acted like being #5 is a tragedy when plenty of artists would kill to even be in Top.20.

Times have changed and there is no way in hell Westlife can ever be #1 so no one should worry about single chart position.

It's very tough but one can only hope maybe a xmas effort or a duet with someone like Ed or BTS.

Posted by: myxxd 27th August 2021, 09:01 AM

No new song performed. But we can't totally say they will not release a new single at the September 11 week because they can use their Radio 2 slot for promotion

Posted by: zeze88 27th August 2021, 10:01 AM

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they release a single one or two weeks before the album in November which isn't a new thing for them, they've done it before.

Posted by: Charis 27th August 2021, 10:15 AM

It makes no sense nowadays cause only singles are selling. If they want to improve their sold records record they should release more singles instead of albums

Posted by: zeze88 27th August 2021, 10:40 AM

But you said it yourself, their 3 singles sold around million copies which isn't exactly amazing so I don't see the point. They will be squashed by streaming every time.

Posted by: myxxd 27th August 2021, 10:52 AM

If the new album will be out this year, maybe only one major single will be released. If the record label will back up the upcoming single big time, they may be looking for Hello My Love streaming history. Remember it peaked on its third month on the Spotify UK chart, it didn't peaked on its premiere week. It was moving upwards but they released a new single that's why they left its inclusion in the playlists behind. With the month of September coming and Xmas songs coming around November, a September single release might be the planned scenario for them so they'll have time to widely promote it because of their history, their song needs time to heat up. Also remember with Hello My Love, they formally announced it two days before its release so anything is possible at this point

Still waiting for new music….

Posted by: zeze88 10th September 2021, 12:38 PM

Read this on Twitter:

Westlife talked to Zoe about their new album and new single ahead of their performance for Radio 2 Live. They say they were more involved with this album than they have been with previous albums in terms of songwriting, and say the new single is uptempo and will be released soon!

Posted by: myxxd 10th September 2021, 12:39 PM

Not too long, plans for a video shoot they said. Quite uptempo, brilliant record laugh.gif cheer.gif

Posted by: zeze88 10th September 2021, 12:42 PM

Here is the full interview and the performance: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000zvqf

I am very interested to hear the album considering they say they were more involved thanks to the pandemic. Watch them release a great album thanks to their involvement haha! I mean, Mark is right, there is no way they would have ever been able to record it from mobile studio if this hasn't happened.

Posted by: Charis 11th September 2021, 11:28 PM

Anyone can understand why Westlife are keeping so quiet? I mean if they plan to release an album in 2 months they should at least mention it for pre ordering… no music yet no dates no title of the album no artwork no pre ordering promotion.. i mean last album they started releasing singles 10+ months before and had 4 singles out. Also the artwork was released like 8 months prior… totally strange… i dnt really get it

Posted by: zeze88 12th September 2021, 09:20 AM

I am with myxxd, I think they will focus on the lead single and then the album. If that is the case, then it is not weird we haven't heard anything considering they aim for November release.

I am sure the single will be out in a matter of weeks. As for pre-order, I thought it was a bit ridiculous that Spectrum had such a long pre-order period, that wasn't necessary.

Posted by: Charis 12th September 2021, 09:38 AM

Thats how it works nowadays. You offer something to get the people pre order if you want t chart high. Last time it was the meet and greet. Imagine spectrum had over 50k preorders and closed the week at 62k…. This year the competition is extreme…. We need the #1 album…

Posted by: zeze88 12th September 2021, 10:05 AM

Didn't they have a pre-order when they announced Wembley gigs? Like you said, you have something to offer, I agree but they had that link too soon, hype was not that high by the time album was out. If they put a pre-order in October, that is perfectly fine. You worry too much, if the boys are at peace, we should be too😁

Posted by: myxxd 12th September 2021, 10:46 AM

Do you guys think they will push back, forward, or will just stick to the original date of the release of the upcoming album?

Posted by: zeze88 12th September 2021, 01:05 PM

They mentioned a few times 3 months so I am hoping they will stick to November but who knows. I am pretty sure everything is set up though, its just that we don't know yet.

Posted by: Sean. 12th September 2021, 07:54 PM

It’s all a bit odd and maybe the new label are not backing them at all. Shame as with the right backing they could have had another successful album.

Posted by: myxxd 13th September 2021, 05:32 PM

It is weird that they have a promotional slot in radio 2 but nothing new to be promoted. Maybe since their performance will be up on BBC til next month or more, it is kind of a building up of the promotion. A new strategy I guess since they can't use the comeback hype anymore. Also, they are very restricted talking about the new album you can tell. I just noticed just now as well there's no signed album and bundles since they announced the upcoming album last March. What's their plan?

Posted by: Charis 20th September 2021, 08:36 AM

Approaching October and no album / single / tour announcement, no music video arrangement.. this is not normal… i wonder what is going on/wrong…. I hope we dont get another bad announcement like being dropped again….

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 20th September 2021, 08:51 AM

At this point I think it's more likely that the album won't be released this year

Posted by: zeze88 20th September 2021, 09:59 AM

I decided not to worry about it, whatever happens, happens.

They did say they are making a music video though. Also, any tour announcement isn't really wise at the moment.

I don't see the point of not releasing the album by the end of the year though, when it is finished and they are shooting a music video for the first single. But who knows, maybe they will for the first time release an album in the first quarter of the new year.

Posted by: Charis 20th September 2021, 12:35 PM

Anyone can Record westlifes top 10 playing now on MtV?

Posted by: myxxd 21st September 2021, 01:36 AM

Their sudden change of label is, in my opinion, not in a bad way most likely. I can give more explanation to that after they release their debut single to Warner. Maybe we can wait for it this October.

Louis recently said there'll be some change in music and new songwriters. You can see clues on who are some of those in Mark's Instagram.

Posted by: isanka 21st September 2021, 10:19 AM

Posted by: Charis 4th October 2021, 04:49 PM

It only makes sense that the album will be postponed for January / February release. Maybe due to high competition this November ( Adele, Ed sHeeran, Abba, JLs) or maybe to promote it right after…. On any case the last year is deffinitely not their busiest yet as they mentioned last february. Its all very strange, its already october and no single no music video no album no tour news….

Posted by: zeze88 4th October 2021, 06:00 PM

I don't know who told them to say this year will be their busiest, I didn't believe that one second. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to release the album next year though but I kind of think they still might at least aim for December to take advantage of Christmas. Who knows, its all speculation at this point, time will tell.

It makes sense to move the album to next year as there are so many big albums coming it could result in westlife getting their lowest peaking album when it's likely they really want another number 1.

Yes getting no1 albums is all they are left with now smile.gif also having their lowest peak position is not possible I think.they were one of the highest openers last time, but even selling half of them amount would be enough for a top 3 entry. There is not much competition in albums like before and only first weeks are high sellers excluding some extraordinary artists ofc. You reminded me now the love album battle in 2006…. What a victory that was! Anyway let’s see if we get new music next week and i would prefer to have the album early next year for bigger chances of a no1

I think they won't do that. Slight change is good but they have always been faithful to their sound. That is why I liked Spectrum, it was only a little bit different but it was still Westlife.

Posted by: Sour Candy 11th October 2021, 04:32 PM

It can come out in December too, that'd benefit their sales with it being Q4 still.

Posted by: zeze88 11th October 2021, 04:35 PM

Yeah I don't see why not, a lot of fans would buy it for Christmas.

Posted by: myxxd 11th October 2021, 04:51 PM

Releasing the single the same time as Adele means they want album sales, even just a pinch of the sales she might get in the UK. More chances the new album will be pushed by the record company to be out this year. Most of big record sellers are being released this year. Companies need sales after the stagnant year of 2020. This might cost them lower chart placement but I think they might not be in a hurry this time to have a number one album as they have so much plans ahead of them in the future musically

But if they want some longevity on the attention of this new single, the album will be released by next year.

The new preview sounds a lot more promising, hoping for a huge pop chorus! The last album was good but not great and none of the choruses matched up to songs from years back. Just listening to the massively underrated ‘heal’. Massive chorus, great bridge and amazing middle eight.

Oooh I love Heal and I appreciated the fact Nicky/Kian got a verse. I always think that, even if they aren't the strongest singers, I do think they deserve to have a few lines, otherwise its just Shane/Mark duo with them harmonizing in the background. My favorite from that album are Thank You and On My Shoulder.

Why don't Westlife push for some duets? Everybody does them now, like everybody. Its their chance to have some hit songs charting high. Also their fanbase alone can guarantee you a 10k pure sales on opening week.

I do love On My Shoulder, especially Shane’s but when he goes in to the chorus after the middle eight. Great song!

They did it again with Dynamite and it was disastrous.. didnt even chart. I dont see a proper reason not to release both at the same time….

To be fair though, Dynamite was the 3rd single and they didn't have much promo for it so I doubt the video is to blame. In any case, if they are releasing this new single on Friday, there is no way the video will be ready by then, thats for sure.

I don't doubt it's something they've explored, it's a case of who wants to.

Ed Sheeran would be a good choice but who knows.

Starlight is the title of their new single. Co-written by Tom Grennan.

Walsh described it as a strong, up-tempo song and said it’s one of many cracking singles on the forthcoming release.

So no album for this year?

Oh and the tracks are:

01. Starlight
02. Alone Together
03. Wild Dreams
04. Lifeline
05. Alive
06. Rewind
07. Do You Ever Think of Me
08. My Hero
09. End of Time
10. Magic
11. Always With Me

Is it even confirmed Adele is releasing on Novembar 19th? Either way, it doesn't matter though, I am sure she will top the charts for weeks. Where We Are was #2 and it wasn't the end of the world.

Posted by: myxxd 12th October 2021, 03:42 PM

Charis HMV is the source. Tracklist is also confirmed. Yup the date was pushed back like Where We Are scenario again because Susan Boyle was so strong at that time

Posted by: zeze88 12th October 2021, 04:04 PM

HMV writes in the description:

'Wild Dreams' is a collection of songs which finds Westlife collaborating with some very special guest songwriters including Ed Sheeran ('My Hero') and Amy Wadge ('Lifeline', 'Rewind'). Producers on the album include Jamie Scott (One Direction), Rami Yacoub (Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga) and Steve Mac (Ed Sheeran, Pink).

Rami is back after 14 years.

I'm thinking the boys will release Wild Dreams as a single a week leading or the week of the album release. That is a good move, having 2 singles released in a short period.

Its a shame album cover resembles a lot to Taylor Swift's Lover, color palette is almost identical.

I agree. I think i could have made better covers for them. Anyway its still comfusing… they only shooted a video yesterday for a single to be released tomorrow night and they plan another single next month? Eh, even if Adele releases the album on October 29th, I think she could still be no.1 by the time Westlife release theirs laugh.gif

Oh and we shouldn't underestimate Ed Sheeran who is actually releasing his album then. He was no.1 for weeks with his singles, he could very well be with the album.

I suppose all they can hope for is a "halo" of sorts from Adele, in that her presence boosts sales of other albums.

No harm in being No. 5 or whatever with higher sales than they got at No. 1 last time (unlikely perhaps but just a thought).

I do hope the song gets recognition it deserves but I can't help but feel skeptical. We all know if Ed Sheeran released it, it would have been no.1 for weeks but Westlife are old school veterans so I won't be surprised if it falls under the radar.

What Shane said about writing with Mark:

“We didn’t know if they were good because it was just us trying to write songs,” Shane said. “But the producers started saying they were really good and we started working with other writers on them.

“We have never really written together before or even as a band because we had so many people writing great songs for us – we were never stuck for a hit song.

“We never got to really master that craft but this time we did it with no pressure and it was lovely.

“I was going through a tough time with my mum and dad, and it was a kind of release and a way to get to a happy place and do what I love.

“Me and Mark just bounced off each other so well and it became a really positive thing for this album.

“This album is probably the most personal one from the four of us as a band ever. It’s more personal and real and I think fans will get excited when they hear these songs because they’re coming from us.”

Charis, I think there is no way that Westlife would have an opportunity to be no.1 with the single, Adele or not. No one expects them to be no.1, not when you also still have huge Ed Sheeran hit and Elton/Dua Lipa.

3rd Westlife song I've ever liked after 'World of Our Own' and 'Hello My Love' laugh.gif You can definitely hear Tom Grennan's influence on it.

Christ what a bop this is

Adele who?!

Posted by: Charis 14th October 2021, 11:35 AM

One of the very few westlife singles havent seen any negative comments tongue.gif hehe

Posted by: slowdown73 14th October 2021, 02:25 PM

Don’t think much of Westlife’s new song. Bland and sounds like a lot of their other stuff. Wouldn’t make me want to invest in their new album and I liked the singles from Spectrum.

Posted by: Charis 14th October 2021, 02:52 PM

Should 1D released this song it would be on 1 b views already…

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 14th October 2021, 03:02 PM

To be fair, if 1D came back in 20 years I'm sure their fans would be saying "if only [insert more modern boyband] had released this"

Regarding vinyl, there's really long wait times for them to be pressed, so they might not have been able to have them ready for the release date.

Spectrum did not chart on the Official Vinyls Chart that is why I thought it is the main reason.

Anyway good news, Album is currently number one and three best sellers in Amazon UK Pop but just behind Coldplay overall. I don't remember Spectrum on this list before

On repeat since the release. Gota little bit teary eyed on the first listen because it is very powerful.

So the music video won't be released tomorrow but in the coming weeks right? I am looking forward to it because Shane looked fresh on his haircut with mirrors in the background

Who knows… judging by previous releases yes it should arrive in a couple of weeks unless the directors work overtime…. They should release the video too… this is ruining their chart chances and i dont understand it.

Posted by: myxxd 14th October 2021, 03:45 PM

There is lack in promotion now on their YouTube now compared to Hello My Love. Idk to other streaming platforms. Wel it is just Thursday we still do not know yet their concrete future plans. I am just happy now the album is selling even if it will settle as a runner up to Adele.

I am looking forward to their performance on Strictly. The single is like it is meant for the show.

Their priorities are Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. Heard Ed is promoting Elton now maybe because of the reaction by some that Ed is doing some tactics to stay put at #1

Absolutely. Hello My Love was No.1 in something like 10-11 countries for a couple of days..

Posted by: myxxd 15th October 2021, 07:50 AM

Not on any UK major playlist except NMF #14. Ridiculous. Hello my love they were on major streaming playlists

Posted by: zeze88 15th October 2021, 07:53 AM

It really sucks they are ignored which really shouldn't be the case as it is actually a good pop song.

From the article, it appears they will perform My Hero soon:

Ed Sheeran wrote the track My Hero, which the lads will perform at the Pride of Britain Awards later this month, after contributing to previous LP Spectrum.

Posted by: Charis 15th October 2021, 08:08 AM

Whatever they perform it actually doesnt work…. Being dropped last year from their previous label… you cant continue release singles and sell top 50.000 copies. Thats deffinitely a much lesss income for paying the company the singers the writers the producers the music video… something needs to change.

Posted by: zeze88 15th October 2021, 08:18 AM

You can't do much when you have a bad rep, when Radio 1 would rather die than play Westlife, when streaming runs you over for the most part. Nicky jokes in the interviews how they are a heritage act now which is true in a way. They don't seem worried about it though so no need to stress over this. It is what it is and they are an old boyband at the end of the day.

Posted by: myxxd 15th October 2021, 08:18 AM

Many artists had lower sales than them and they are surviving. Again we do not know their plans maybe they will release another single with a stronger backing or this single will be playlisted later

But we cannot count out Charis' anxiety because this label is the same label who Handled Shane's second album, Kian s debut and Boyzone. I was about to say last March why they chose this label but I trust them and I do not want negativities as much as possible.

Anyway, #160 on Amazon UK popular songs only playlisted on #47 Brand New Music. #50 Spotify Ireland #1 on Amazon UK top digital songs

Posted by: zeze88 15th October 2021, 11:54 AM

They posted a small clip from recording. It would be cool if they release a documentary about it because it really was an unique situation.

Whatever happened to the one they mentioned 2 years ago, its a shame they probably scrapped it.

Posted by: zeze88 16th October 2021, 05:59 PM

This would be cool but its hilarious they mentioned Brian:

Very good performance, I agree.

I shouldn't nitpick as a fan but I'm always suspicious as to whether Nicky & Kian are using playback or not. I know they can sing although I don't think you could hear them in the chorus.

As for Mark's high notes, is that the highest he's sung in chest voice? I'm assuming it's chest voice anyway.

Posted by: zeze88 18th October 2021, 06:46 AM

Damn, Mark really killed it with those high notes.

I think they all sang live actually, Kian wasn't 100% clean like on the record.

Starlight debuts at 29 here in Ireland which i think they could be slightly disappointed with.

Posted by: myxxd 22nd October 2021, 03:30 PM

I thought it won't chart top 50 at all in Ireland. Very small playlists hype airplay support. It charted on Spotify Apple Music Deezer top 50 range only this week and for one day so it is already high for the single already

Posted by: Charis 22nd October 2021, 05:03 PM

#66 in the UK with 6800... well, if there was a video and was released on friday we could have challenge for top 40 tongue.gif

Posted by: zeze88 22nd October 2021, 05:31 PM

If only Radio 1 would play the damn song, they probably would have had a chance even without the video

Posted by: Hassaan 22nd October 2021, 05:44 PM

Slight thing: the MusicWeek article says it was their lowest charting single. Not entirely correct as My Blood came in at #96.

I do think releasing it on the Friday would have helped a little. I know, Adele etc, but even then.

Posted by: myxxd 22nd October 2021, 05:51 PM

#6 in Sales with no physical CD available. #5 in downloads. With this two charts alone, it charted like Bop Bop Baby. The only two singles charted in the UK that the members Co wrote

Finally A list on Radio 2. And for the first time there is a promotion in Canada. They have a clip for Topsify Canada. #23 in Irish radio airplay and nothing in the UK!

Pride of Britain will be on Nov 4 so My Hero might be released on this day

Posted by: Charis 26th October 2021, 12:11 AM

#99 in todays update… good to know its close to top 100 even though it stands no chance of charting again, unless they had already released the music video… still dont understand why didnt they release it already. They had months to prepare for this release… i wonder if they will release another single with the album release….

"Big live news coming at 11am BST tomorrow, get ready"

I guess they will announce tour dates.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 28th October 2021, 12:43 PM

Gary Barlow is now also releasing his Christmas album on November 26th, so more competition there.

Posted by: zeze88 28th October 2021, 01:00 PM

Ah damn, he is usually no.1 so I guess boys could be #3 with Adele at the top and boys at #3 or even #4 with Adele at 1, Ed at 2, Gary at #3. I still think Top 5 spot is still a good achievement for an old act.

Posted by: -Jay- 28th October 2021, 01:13 PM

Westlife’s last album achieved better first week sales than Gary’s last album (62,621 vs 46,406), so I wouldn’t rule out Westlife doing better.

The success of Christmas albums really varies in the UK, more often than not they don’t set the charts alight but then there’s some exceptions (obviously Michael Buble but also Michael Ball/Alfie Boe did well last year). So it remains to be seen if a Gary Barlow Christmas album has strong appeal to the public.

Posted by: Charis 28th October 2021, 01:13 PM

Guys i dont think Ed sheeran will still sell that much 1 month after the release... Relax... I also doubt that gary barlow xmas album will pick up that soon... However i dont really feel Westlife doing that much of a promo to try for a big entry there and maybe thats the worse part...

Posted by: Charis 28th October 2021, 01:16 PM

anyway it doesnt look like they care for the no.1 this time cause if they do they could release the album in october, they had all the time to do so.... Maybe they hope for being relevant to xmas market in order to generate some income for the record company..

Posted by: zeze88 28th October 2021, 01:21 PM

Shane said in an interview that things will heat up now so we obviously don't know their entire plan, I am sure they will do the promo for the album.

releasing another single, putting the album pre order for early access and doing a few sign ups in the UK we can see them challenge the #1. Adele will not sell more than 100k in the 2nd week of release...

Rumours for Aviva stadium announcement tomorrow morning and press conference

Posted by: zeze88 29th October 2021, 10:50 AM

Yeah, the rumors are true.

They were originally supposed to play 2 nights at Wembley right? I think its good that it is one night, I doubt people have money for two.

And playing Aviva instead in Ireland is great for Irish fans.

Posted by: myxxd 29th October 2021, 03:43 PM

With the dates released, most likely they won't have an album in November December 2022

Posted by: zeze88 30th October 2021, 07:27 AM

I am happy with a new album every 2 years, that way the boys won't feel the pressure like in the old days and they can actually write more themselves.

I was just wondering if the tour will sell well considering I saw people complaining on the internet how expensive some are + we are in the time of pandemic. I see now they just added a second Aviva gig. I guess its selling well otherwise they wouldn't announce a second date.

Posted by: zeze88 6th November 2021, 08:48 AM

I saw on Twitter that they had Evening With Westlife yesterday, does anybody know if/when will that be aired?

Posted by: Charis 6th November 2021, 09:10 AM

How did you guys find My Hero. Do you like it more than starlight? Reminds me of I get weak smile.gif

Posted by: myxxd 6th November 2021, 09:45 AM

The tour is selling well for them except for the Leeds and Sheffield dates because they have a Wembley Stadium date, yes the ticket prices are high because they want more stadium dates than arenas hahah just me speculation and they still have a year to promote it

I like My Hero but very Ed Sheeran, may appeal to 2010s generation but for some old fans it needs a stronger chorus and key change.

Maybe another song will be released before the 26th. Based on the song titles for me it is Do You Ever Think of Me, or the Wild Dreams.
The music video for Starlight, where is it? Maybe on the 19th or in January 2022 hahah

Posted by: zeze88 6th November 2021, 11:05 AM

I don't think they have much saying on the price tickets, fans are pissed off which can only hurt them so I don't think they would want that. You'd think it would be cheaper considering the pandemic, people are right to be upset.

I like My Hero, its still a very Westlife ballad, it doesn't scream Ed too much haha!

They said on This Morning how Walsh pushes them to do the hits, that no one wants to hear the hew songs. Thats just ridiculous, can't he see most fans are just sick of the same old? Can't they for once skip Mandy, You Raise Me Up or Home? Since they are touring with 2 latest albums you'd think they would do 4 songs from each but you know they will pick the same hits. I hate that all of their recent tours are basically a greatest hits show. Imagine them actually having entire concert with songs from the new albums, that would be refreshing

Posted by: myxxd 6th November 2021, 11:52 AM

I hope they get rid of Home or Mandy for once. They won't remove You Raise Me Up.

The stanzas only I mean are so Ed. Maybe the chorus not.

Posted by: myxxd 6th November 2021, 11:54 AM

I hope they get rid of Home or Mandy. They won't remove You Raise Me Up. I understand their side because I went to concerts too and most people only know their hits and not the new songs sadly

The verses only I mean are so Ed. Maybe the chorus not.

Posted by: Hassaan 7th November 2021, 02:37 PM

I'd like to hear Another Life, Without You and Repair live (from Spectrum). A shame they didn't get to tour that album.

Of the classics I'm not really bothered about Home or Mandy. Keep World of Our Own, Flying Without Wings, You Raise Me Up etc of course. My Love, I preferred it when they did the acapella breakdown on the Where We Are and Greatest Hits tours.

Would also be quite nice to hear them cover some Ed Sheeran songs - Perfect could easily be a Westlife song (for example).

I agree. I mean, they have tons of videos with them just standing but this looks kind of cheap, I can't believe it took editors 2 weeks for this. Even Dynamite looked better and it also had lights + Croke Park moments.

I keep saying this but I think this but I think this is the reality now for the boys. Years ago they could have performed on a big show like Pride of Britain and that would have helped them to score no.1 but that is no the case now.

Even then it's not a big show and they'd at least have promoted it properly in the past. Do the rounds on the radio and performing on This Morning or whatever, but the singles seem an afterthought now.

I get the focus on the album and so on but it's still a shame.

They were on This Morning the other day and they also had Irish radio slots when Starlight was released and it still didn't help in Ireland. Its not their fault Radio 1 doesn't give a damn about them. There really isn't much they can do

They can. Maybe release some good tunes like their old hits. Release on fridays, release physical singles, do some signings. Release albums in January too. Do some proper video clips and release a few remixes too.

Posted by: Charis 9th November 2021, 06:30 PM

Also invest on some duets instead of taking the cheap way out..

Posted by: zeze88 9th November 2021, 08:49 PM

They can do all that and I still think it wouldn't matter a lot, unless they duet with huge stars like Adele or BTS. I still think Starlight and My Hero are quality songs so I wouldn't put a blame on the songs.

They are fine, not swear it again world of our own my love or flying without wings, not even if i let u go though tongue.gif i have a feeling Wil Dreams would be the best track on the album. I hope they will have another single during the release week although i just dont see it happening tongue.gif

All I can say is I love and appreciate the work that they do recently, small or big. The moment I saw the video I knew there would be reactions like this. Why comparing it to their old stuff? We live in a totally different world now, we are not in the 2000s anymore. Why keep on saying this is their reality now in the singles charts, I can still see them doing well in the chart if they and the record companies want to, so many other strategies left and they still have a decade to do that and they are not in a rush. it is just they want to explore things now

Posted by: zeze88 10th November 2021, 08:54 AM

I agree we shouldn't compare the music now to what it was. Thats like saying, if Tina Turner released a song today, you go "its good but its no Private Dancer or Simply The Best". biggrin.gif

I think both of these new songs are great songs, its because many other reasons the boys aren't lighting up the charts.

Also, who knows what the label even tried but maybe they just couldn't achieve what thy wanted. Its not like Hello My Love had a bigger promo, its just that Westlfe came back after 7 years with a bop so even non-WL fans were casually interested.

OR, yes, they simply think its not worth bleeding money on it if it won't chart well anyway, I can see some logic behind it to be honest, especially during the pandemic.

I’m not sure why anyone comments negatively on the video. In the past they walked along a beach, in a warehouse or in a studio with a wind machine. The video is nice, it has nice effects. None of their videos were ever WOW moments.

Thats true, but still walking in a beach was still more interesting that this effect bombing. I also noticed that there were no scenes including them alltogether from a distance shot, only just a couple of centiseconds or so. Most of the shoots were very close to each individually. This caused me some dizziness tongue.gif

Modern, sleek, colourful, animated, young. I don't see anything wrong with the editing since I have watched it in the highest video quality and unlike the cheap Sci fi movies I have watched. Appropriate racing at the speed of light. The lads know they need to do something different now after 22 years. Some fans are not used to very fast and more innovative music videos, they need time for the change. As for me, I am generally a music and a movie fan that's why kinda like different things but Westlife always come first, my loyalty is to them forever.

More of the second reason. For the promotion, this is some kind of a a missed opportunity for the record company to create more hype outside UK and Ireland as many are still not aware that they are back, and that they had the comeback in 2019 just by reading at the comments

Where did you hear that abut the album release date?

Yeah, I still think there is high chance they will be #3. Abba had huge sales this week and I could see them being on the top, or #2 behind Adele. But who knows, maybe pre-order/tour tickets helped a lot for Westlife, we will see. Even if they end up #3, that is a very good result.

Posted by: Charis 14th November 2021, 12:16 PM

I just remeber it was always set as 19 November in the release schedule, but the jonathan ross show comfirms that. I highly highly doubt Westlife would chart lower than Abba and Ed Sheeran, unless their new album sells really low this time which is my biggest fear. Only big obstacle looks to be Adele especially seeing there is not much momentum for Westlife this time around…. Lets seee. Ed sheeran 2nd week had a 70% decrease, i believe all the acts will have the same.

Its not ageism but it is definitely some kind of limitation, that can't be denied. I think its because they have a bad reputation, they aren't considered as current or cool, even if Starlight isn't outdated at all.

I mean, back in 20002 when they wanted to crack US, they sent World Of Our Own without telling who they are. All stations went crazy for the song but the moment they found out its Westlife, they said they don't need another boyband.

As for complaining during their popular days, they couldn't complain about something in the band let alone someone else laugh.gif

My hopes for the album are not great, no previews or anything doesn't help. From the outside, with the cheap video and lack of music etc. it looks like the album is a side project to them making money touring! I'd rather them have quit after the last album if they are going to turn into a Boyzone type act! That 'something special' has disappeared.

Only today the yellow colour is available so i just placed my order!

You are right, that something special has disappeared and they have a the main responsibility for that. They were the hard workers in the noughties but now they are acting like they are doing it as a part time job.

Posted by: Charis 24th November 2021, 11:26 AM

I look at other artists like taylor swift ed sheeran are pushing it when it doesnt go their way.... Westlife don't, just share a few pics for a couple of days and then hide in their ireland ranchos. Next week their only real competition is adele's second week which most likely sell somewhere around spectrum sold the first week. Just push it, do some signings, some new bundles, new colours...

Posted by: zeze88 24th November 2021, 11:32 AM

Calling them a Boyzone act is a bit harsh when by the end they only released cover albums. How can it be a side project when they literally built music studio in their homes and co-wrote majority of the songs just for this album? I think they care more for this album than anything ever before because they had the biggest input in it. Just because they aren't everywhere who says they actually can be? Maybe it is hard to book high exposure.

And at the end of the day, if they want to be only a tour act, its their choice, I am sure millions would be happy even with that.

I agree about the bundle thing but having signings in the time of the pandemic would be simply crazy.

Posted by: Sean. 24th November 2021, 12:42 PM

Maybe I am overreacting a bit however a Westlife release has always felt special, maybe come Friday I will feel different. I hope the music delivers!

Joking aside, they really should do that once, I am tired of seeing every tour as Greatest Hits tour.

I started listening to the album.

They only haven't been involved in 3 songs. Its all Mark/Shane, only on Alive did Nicky write with 2 songwriters.

I have to say its odd to think that you get 3 bops right of the bat.

Lifeline melody chorus reminds me of some other song but I can't put my finger on which one.

Highlights so far are Alive, Rewind, Do You Ever Think Of Me. I am actually shocked its all very mid/up tempo, its definitely a different Westlife album.

In any case, there is nothing wrong with it, I am just surprised how boppy it is, they are just 2 proper ballads besides My Hero.

It definitely goes with the line of Take You There that Mark and Shane did, its a new sound and its theirs.

Alone Together -> Probably a Westlife song like no other before. Club song. Cute and nice btw! like it a lot.

Posted by: Charis 25th November 2021, 12:15 PM

Wild Dreams -> Did i really open a Westlife album or someone is trolling me? tongue.gif

Lifeline -> Starts amazingly well, Shane is killing it, becomes a bit boring towards the end. Might need to grow on me

Alive -> Not very excited for this.

Rewind -> saving it for now. nice modern ballad.

[still waiting for that One Last Time type of song]

Do you ever think of me -> Nice enough. Very modern midtempo tune.

End of time -> lovely modern ballad.

Magic -> The L.O.V.E. type song in spectrum. i actually prefer this one to LOVE though. Just ok.

Always with me -> The usual finishing ballad. Average but still better than Another Life.

Sum up: We are still missing the big hit... All in all i would rate the album 7/10. Similar to spectrum quality wise.

Their upbeat songs here are on another higher level compared to Spectrum

Posted by: zeze88 25th November 2021, 05:10 PM

This looks like a review from someone who isn't familiar with their past music if its branded as same old:

https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/westlife-review-peter-capaldi-album-b1964230.html

I mean, what kind of progress is anyone expecting, there is nothing wrong with upbeat pop songs.

Also, they aren't doing a 2nd comeback, that part is also ridiculous.

Posted by: myxxd 25th November 2021, 05:18 PM

Let's talk about the ballads

End of Time and My Hero are the best in the album. Don't like the Amy Wadge songs like Diane Warren's I Did it For You on Turnaround.

iTunes:
#1 Indonesia
#2 Australia
#2 New Zealand

Most of the reviews for them are done just to express how much they dont like them or boring they are. They cant be taken seriously, not to mention that i am pretty sure you get a decent review if you pay for it these days..
bla bla bla but when National stars Adele, Robbie Williams/Take That release something it's a masterpiece, it's exactly what the public needed...

Really like the album so far but waiting till I listen to it properly tomorrow. Really annoyed they have tacked 4 old live song onto the end, cheapens it. Still love lifeline and end of time.

Posted by: myxxd 25th November 2021, 06:04 PM

Many liked Lifeline because Shane is stunning but the emphasis on the word Lifeline is kind of annoying to me. Love the haunting background of it.

The inclusion of their old songs are for the sales. It worked with Shane's Love Always

Its their most selling singles too ( I have a dream aside ) maybe it will help them individually too.

You shouldn't judge anything on previews, at least listen to it once on Spotify and then never listen to it if you don't like it

Yeah that part surprised me the most, its definitely new for them which is why I find it ridiculous when reviewers say its the same old boring Westlife. Hate it if you want but don't say this isn't a change for them.

Nothing from the comeback 2-3 years ago grabbed me. I probably should give it a go though.

Its definitely different even from Spectrum so I can understand if someone doesn't like it.

The fact that its all mainly mid/uptempo is a big change for sure. I actually believe them now when they say its Westlife 2.0

At the end of the day, its about popularity and Westlife fans were eager to get them to no.1 so blame their loyal fan.

They just EXPECTED to be populsr because they were men without a fraction of the effort the Spices put in.

We're not talking about an album release, as Forever was shite, but systematic destruction of the biggest gitl band of all time by a fake karaoke act full of hate, sexism and jealousy, oh, and bad karaoke covet songs given to them by Cowell. FLUSH.

Nope, not fake, the sexists were out for the Spices, esp because Cowell and Louis Walsh, who also tried to show power ovet Mel B by squeezing her bum on tv, sexual assault, were FUMING they passed up on the biggest girl band of all time. They wanted to destroy them, and used sexistlife, who were all too eager to do it.

So its all about spice girls and you were/are a fanboy… the main difference between spice girls and westlife are the westlife members loved the band itself while the spice girls only enjoyed a couple of years at the top of everything and then broken into pieces

Posted by: Charis 26th November 2021, 10:02 AM

Posted by: Beaver Moon 26th November 2021, 10:07 AM

Hear the Spices oe Girls Aloud and you KNOW they have something special with their sangs and energy. Westshite have nothing about them, no artistic integrity, just empty money suits in the past to big businessmen, and now just empty suits of botox.

I agree about Adele, I actually prefer 25 to the new one. For me I think the fact that a few songs are over 6 minutes long is what putts me off.

I hope the boys release more singles but who knows if they think its worth it.

Alive that Nicky co-wrote, the chorus is about world moving on and how everything will eventually get better but I think he was thinking about his kids while writing this, the way he sings about knowing the trees and missing friends from school.

I really like the song and that little thing Mark does near at the end with "I'll come alive".

Not much sense above i tried to make an estimation on how much Adele will sell next week based on how other acts behaved. I think my prediction can have +- 10%. However its a very big amount of sales to even compete. Unless i am way out of my calculations. Based on spectrum release which was on pre order for 1 year or so, this year we have 4 different versions which might help if fans are there, right? what usually happens to other physical selling artists?

I was just about to say that. Starlight has a hit written on it but it simply wasn't for them. I can say that for Alone Together, Alive, Wild Dreams and Do You Ever Think Of Me but its pretty certain it won't be if they release those as singles. I don't think the album is missing a hit

I think I prefer starlight to hello my love but both are right up there with their best singles for me, back in the day it would have been 2 more number 1s, but like so many other artists they are an album and tour act now as that's where money can be made.

Starlight is the right single off the album. Noticed every five years they have Light on the title on their singles. Lighthouse, Sunlight now Starlight

This album is also their first one not to have a heart or love in the title of the songs

I love this album, so proud of their hard work. even Lifeline and on loudspeaker which is rare for me as I always use headsets. Rewind are growers for me. I keep on repeating this especially uptempos more than Spectrum and some of their previous albums

Charis where did you get the info that they are ahead on the chart?

Latest statement of Westlife about Brian

Kian said his actions after his departure have left him and his bandmates scratching their heads.

He said: “As the years rolled on we didn’t have any contact with Brian.

“He left Westlife, he said he didn’t like the music, he said he didn’t want to sing the songs, and you know, he didn’t want to be going on stage singing the songs we were singing, and he said he’s done. And he told us he wanted to go home to be with his family but then a few months later he had a solo album.

“He said he didn’t want to do music, they were his words to us.

Brian leaving was the best thing to happen them.
Had he stayed I feel he would have caused rows and the band would have split around the time of their third album.
It was hard for them at the time but a blessing in disguise.

Posted by: zeze88 29th November 2021, 02:30 PM

Yeah I don't think they would have lasted for 14 years. Brian is a great singer/songwriter but there is always something immature about him. Maybe he is different now but back in the day I remember boys saying it annoyed them he wasn't serious at the proper moment, when it was time to work. You can't just fool around all the time.

And Better Man already on the 20th. Together with Hello My Love, It will go up

1.1m for Uptown Girl

800k for Flying Without Wings

I really think they can still come back in the singles chart. it's just that we have ABBA with their last album and Adele with her album in six years now. 14th top 5 album is already a celebration.

Like I said, I know it was successful and I know why but I didn't know it was sitting at #8 which is great considering it was a Top 15 hit. To think its more successful than Queen Of My Hear or My Love, that is impressive.

I think it has a lot to do with them being back because I genuinely think Starlight is better than Hello My Love.

Posted by: Charis 30th November 2021, 03:11 PM

We are comparing 2 different things though. Streaming era made it very difficult for a song ti habe a peak week but it helps a lot on total sales. Look at when u r looking like that, the song is going to become gold in a couple of years just because of introduction of streaming. World of our own is also getting platinum soon, uptown girl added another 300-350 k streaming sales, better man is on the verge of becoming silver too, right behind the rose which was a #1 lead single! With the big concerts in the summer many songs will get a boost, maybe even starlight

Posted by: zeze88 30th November 2021, 04:27 PM

I have to say this album is turning out to be my favorite, they finally dethroned World Of Or Own for me. So I would say my Top 5 is:

1. Wild Dreams
2. World Of Our Own
3. Where We Are
4. Spectrum
5. Gravity

Its really sad it took a damn pandemic for them to make an album they were heavily involved in, I hope this gives them confidence to continue like that in the future

Posted by: Charis 30th November 2021, 04:40 PM

For me the first 3 albums, and more specially C2C and World of our own cannot be beaten by anything. However indeed with this album i am so happy it's better than many of them than followed.

Oh yeah, I love Coast to Coast, its always a tie with WOOO for me. Debut is very good but there are songs in there that I find too cheesy laugh.gif

By the way, if you want to chat outside forum, you can find me on Facebook under Zeljka Surla. If there are more than one, I am the one with the curly hair and glasses

Unpopular thought, i think selling 2.4k on Monday is a decent amount for us. Could help our fight for #2 entry. We need to keep pushing more though smile.gif

Monday Sum up:
Adele 14.9k
Westlife 2.4k
Ed Sheeran 5.1k
ABBA 4.1k
Gary 1.4k

Ed Sheeran stable at 5.1k, for 3 more days that would be 15.3k + ~3k missing streams = 39.000

For Westlife i can see it stabilizing somewhere between 1.5k-2k for the rest of the 3 days = 5k = 38000.

Come onnn!!

Regarding Better Man I am not sure if it's still being streamed enough in order to reach getting silver soon, but if it passed When you tell me that you love me, it should be close, as WYTMTYLM sold 120k copies during the year of release and i think it has around 5-6 million streams.

Admittedly I’m not the biggest Westlife fan, but they do have some pretty good songs.

I’ll have to give my top 5. It’ll need a bit of thought though.

Posted by: Run_For_Cover 1st December 2021, 03:51 AM

Choosing my Top 5 was a little trickier than I though. I have a clear Top 3 which is: (In no particular order)

Flying Without Wings
Uptown Girl
World Of Our Own

The next 2 were a bit tougher but I've narrowed it down to:
When You're Looking Like That
My Love

Posted by: LMFan 1st December 2021, 09:16 AM

Picking a top 5 is a tough one! I’d have to go:

1. Amazing
2. Hello My Love
3. If I Let You Go
4. When You’re Looking Like That
5. What About Now

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 1st December 2021, 03:15 PM

1. World of Our Own
2. Hello My Love
3. Starlight

The only other one I can occasionally put up with on a good day is 'If I Let You Go', everything else is total garbage.

Review-Part One

Starlight- 8/10

Loved this on first lesson although I use the other songs a lot more, maybe due to them being newere to be fair. Kian and Nicky do not sound the strongest on this however I like the melodies. Mark sounds great as usual and brings power to the song. The anthemic chorus is going to make this song popular at gigs. Not my main choice for a single but it serves it's purpose. Favourite part is when the second chorus carries on longer with the chant of 'DANCING at the speed of light'. Poor video however the song does not disappoint.

Alone together- 8.5/10

Another anthemic uptempo song started by Shane with a great start to the verse followed by one of Kian's strong points, a nice pre-chorus! The chorus is strong and does what it needs to do! This song is lyrically not the strongest however is not meant to be, it's a fun song with an addictive chorus. Nicky has another small part and Mark sounds mellow on this track although the bridge from him is a strong point of the song. Really good song and perhaps would have been a good first single to show where their music is now heading.

Wild Dreams- 9.5/10

Now we are talking! Shane once again starts the song and Nicky and Kian both have parts where they are both excellent, they sound in their comfort zone! This mid-tempo song has a catchy chorus and jumps between band members, the choruses end with a strange psychedelic beat which is like nothing they have done before! Mark sounds perfect on the chorus and this with a great video and pushed as a single would be a surprise to all! The sudden end to the song is brilliant and the song can be described as a rollercoaster of a song.

Lifeline- 10/10

Stunning! Just stunning! Shane excels on here, his vocals are made for this type of song. The haunting sound with the beautiful piano sound makes this a highlight of not only the album, but their entire career! No part is stronger than the rest of the song, it just flows and although Shane excels, Mark in traditional westlife ballad style comes in to deliver an incredible second chorus. He restrains his voice and just sounds perfect. You here shades of Nicky and Kian on the middle 8 but this is a song they are best left out of in the nicest possible way. The song gets better with each listen and is a perfect ballad ending with Shane singing 'always' in a delicate tone. Perfection and the song of the year for me.

Posted by: zeze88 2nd December 2021, 01:50 PM

They will be on The Late Late Show tomorrow night.

Posted by: pippa 2nd December 2021, 02:03 PM

I would think they may have a chance of overtaking Adele for Number 1 in Ireland.

Posted by: Sean. 2nd December 2021, 03:26 PM

Review- Part 2

Alive- 9.5/10

Shane with another masterclass, vocals on points here! Lyrically sounds very personal and seems like it's about the pandemic and things becoming brighter (alive). This is far from a generic upbeat dance track which I feared it would be at first. Nicky sounds strong on the pre-second chorus the EDM beat sounds great and suits them. Mark decides to let loose a bit and shows of his powerhouse vocals especially toward the end.

Rewind- 7/10

Not a bad song but feels like a filler compared to most of the album. A nice mid-tempo track with a slightly weak chorus. Would have fitted on some of their mid-career albums. Nicky and Kian do not sound as strong on this however not too bad. Not keen on the strange end to the chorus and the beat is...just there. Surprised the track was included but it's not too bad. The bar has been raised on this album hence the slight negativity.

Do you ever think of me 10/10

2nd best on the album, absolutely stunning. From the atmospheric sound at the start you just know it's going to be a great song. Shane start again and rightly so with Mark soon coming in with his strong pre-chorus. The chorus is strong with a brilliant melody which does not leave your head. Kian has a nice small part and it all flows. The 'it just don't make sense' part is full of sincerity. The drum in the background at times is so effective and the production is on point. The beat at the end completes a magical song. Sounds stronger than anything on Marks solo outing however it sounds like a song he would love!

Posted by: Charis 2nd December 2021, 03:36 PM

I am so obsessed with ‘ do you ever think of me ‘ i mean its been a long time since i lastly enjoyed an album track that much.

corretions / additions:

UPTOWN GIRL 1.116k
FLYING WITHOUT WINGS [37 million streams] 801k
YOU RAISE ME UP 786k
Seasons in the Sun 100k

old albums:
2 years ago:
Westlife - Coast To Coast (#1, 2000) 1,725,393
Westlife - Unbreakable: The Greatest Hits Vol 1 (#1, 2002) 1,896,765

Total albums sales:
13,063,893

Total singles sales:
9,800,471

today:
1,943,550 Westlife - Unbreakable: The Greatest Hits Volume 1 [+47k]
1,752,607 Westlife - Coast to Coast [+27k]

Total albums sales:
13,582,655

Total singles sales:
12,853,945

in the last 2 years they sold 519k albums and 3.05m singles. that is almost 3.5 m records in the UK only.

So the 55 million record should be definitely outdated already. UK total for singles and albums is now 26.4m + ~1.5 DVD's = 28m records in the UK only.

Lastly, in January 2019 I WANNA GROW OLD WITH YOU and I'LL SEE YOU AGAIN were higher than Seasons in the sun [100k] in their most streamed songs.

Really think Westlife should release a Xmas songs for the fans, shame they have never done an original one.

Still laugh how seasons in the sum was released at Christmas, the least festive song ever 😂

Amazing to think this got to 2 on good sale considering there was not the comeback hype or big single.

Crazy to think we are not going to get another single or video. The Starlight video was awful and it's starting to look like all they care about is touring money. Even small artists make the effort to make videos for fans. They literally come across like they couldn't care less anymore which is a real shame. Even Boyzone made a few videos per album! Disappointed

Its all about investment. The record company make their plans according to the profits. Starlight would have not sold 50k sales yet, imagine having to pay for their profucers writers video shooting editing and other expenses with such income. I dont think it has nothing to do with the band itself. If their singles were selling 500k they would deffinitely do more videos and singles and also put out some physicals too.

Posted by: Charis 10th December 2021, 11:11 PM

And u can understand that with their effort to put out an acoustic video for my hero, low budget, but still no impact unfortunaterly. Keep in mind that no tour is done the last 2 years, so no actual income

Westlife did the same last album. I dont remember when was the last time they did 4 videos for an album, surely it was 20 years ago. But only half of them were decent sellers. I would expect doing 2 this time but considering the pandemic and no tours i can understand it.

Fair enough, though I still think it couldn’t be that hard to make videos on a budget. They don’t need to be extravagant just something simple for the fans. Get those few extra streams and views.

Totally agree, had i been their manager a lot of things would be different but probably they know better… apparently money moves it all

Posted by: Run_For_Cover 11th December 2021, 12:46 AM

Hahaha, oh well. At least the fans are getting something I guess.

I don't get why you keep criticizing them that it looks like they don't care. They keep going on and on how proud they are of this album, how involved they were. I agree, its not on them, I'm sure they would like more singles but the videos cost money. Heck, even if we think Starlight video sucks, I am sure it cost money. You always seem so negative and you go down on them smile.gif

My Hero has been playlisted by Radio 2 today. There's your single

Only singles or albums that are new entries or climbers are shown in the update - they haven’t been purposely left out they just don’t fall into either category.

So you mean to say this isn't actually a vendetta against Westlife? laugh.gif

Posted by: Charis 13th December 2021, 05:49 PM

#12 in the mids, didnt expect it to fall that much :/

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 13th December 2021, 05:57 PM

They might get back in the top 10 by the end of the week.

Posted by: Charis 13th December 2021, 06:06 PM

Why? tongue.gif

Posted by: Charis 13th December 2021, 08:14 PM

#9 on sales of 3k so its a bit lower than this at #12. I was hoping to get silver this week but not happening. Shame cause i think its better album than spectrum all in all.

Posted by: Sean. 14th December 2021, 07:45 AM

You think I'm being negative but I'm not, just a frustrated fan. It is better than Spectrum but that had 4 videos (3 good ones) and advertising. How can they expect sales to be as good when there is no effort.

Only 2 f the videos actually payed off, Hello My Love and Better Man. You have to look at it from the label's perspective and even pandemic crisis which wasn't the case in 2019. Why would they spend money on new videos when Starlight and My Hero basically flopped? That is how they think. They haven't toured in 2 years so there is no income there. Plus, its not like Spectrum had good sales after December, their every album is practically nowhere to be seen come January. I just think its pointless to expect something big from a 23 year old band.

Posted by: Sean. 14th December 2021, 09:29 AM

They have income coming in from the tour that is guaranteed. The smallest acts can make half decent videos and get them out ON TIME these days.

Posted by: zeze88 14th December 2021, 10:29 AM

Be that as it may, having Starlight video on time wouldn't have made any difference because there was no buzz surrounding their release, not like Hello My Love which was definitely fueled by the fact it was a first single after 7 years and maybe even the fact that Ed wrote it for them.

Posted by: Charis 14th December 2021, 11:41 AM

Relax and enjoy. At least we have an album and its not an in-hurry cheap release. If the tour goes ahead especially wembley all will start to look better i think

Posted by: zeze88 14th December 2021, 12:19 PM

Exactly. I think us as fans sometimes worry too much about charting and sales. Did they give us a good album? Yes, an an album they were heavily involved after a long time. That is all that matters, the rest that happens isn't solely on them, we don't really know everything that goes around them. I just think saying they don't care is an easy answer and a bit unfair, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten Wild Dreams. Its not all about charting, they all look very happy and relaxed - I'd rather have them like this while they enjoy being as Westlife than stressing out and wanting to quit.

Westlife will do an online concert on WeChat for Chinese fans, hopefully someone will upload it on Youtube.

Trailer for it is cute:

It’s now #8 in the mids. Honestly it’s doing really well in its third week, considering that it isn’t big on streaming and doesn’t have big singles! A lot of artists suffer way worse declines in the second week, let alone the third.

Just to compare them with another big boyband, JLS’ comeback album charted at #4 and is currently midweek #35 in week 2 (and even that isn’t awful compared to some second week positions).

Posted by: Run_For_Cover 16th December 2021, 04:29 AM

Yeah I think both are doing relatively well when you compare them to others. smile.gif

Fantastic, we are approaching the Silver certificate by this weekend, and then we can focus on getting it Gold.

Given this album a few listens now and really enjoying it bar the two singles, which I actually think are two of the weakest tracks. Alone Together is the stand out for me. Hopefully gets released to radio in time as I think it would be received well.

hehe, i am feeling the same but for me most probably its because that i burnt the two singles since they came out long before. alone together, wild dreams and do u ever think of me are top for me. right after are lifeline, alive and end of time.. Even magic is an interesting track, while i usually skip such type of songs.

How is the audience in China impacting Westlife sales and / or spotify/youtube streams? Those are extreme numbers really….

Posted by: myxxd 17th December 2021, 08:18 PM

They have a different streaming platforms like qq

Another week in the top 10 is impressive. I was expecting a much quicker drop off.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th December 2021, 08:27 PM

They could be lucky and stay top 10 this coming week aswell.
