Mine would be costume/period type of films. |

Period dramas would be my main one - TV/Film or anything - yes the production to reproduce that time is impressive but it's just the language and the culture they usually replicate (for British period dramas anyway) just bog down the whole thing when the same theme/story they explore could be told much better in a more relevant time frame. I'll be happy if someone can name something that might disprove that theory of mine.
Also having been reminded in here, I don't think I've ever watched a Western film  they sound appealing but considering the number of naysayers we have I'm not so sure anymore!Also anything deliberately designed to shock either through political content or gore is a big no for me. Human Centipede never in a million years - just cause it's an original idea doesn't mean it should be produced! |

I can't think of a single western that I like/would watch again. They're all so bland to me. Edit. Oh wait. 'Django Unchained' is the only one I do like �� |

Oh dear, some of the greatest films of all time are Westerns!
(Admittedly, I've not watched an awful lot either  Maybe it's a British thing idk)I don't often watch exploitation (like The Human Centipede as mentioned) and romance would probably be my least favourite mainstream genre - probably cos when I watch a film I look for either something spectacular and thrilling or an original idea that makes me think and romance just never really gives me this I wouldn't dismiss a genre altogether though - everything has something worthwhile to give to cinema! |

I love some big Comedy films like Ghostbusters or Beetlejuice but most of it leaves me cold. As for those that aren't keen on Westerns, I get it, most of them (like War movies) are pulp rubbish but I'd say check out Unforgiven, the Spaghetti Westerns with Clint Eastwood, Once Upon A Time In The West, Shane, Cheyenne Autumn and Dances With Wolves. This may be a bit controversial because Buzzjack seems to like 'em but I'm not a fan of horror films in general! I seem to get no enjoyment whatsoever through a film trying to scare me and instead prefer to turn to film as a positive form of escapism most of the time, probably explains why I like musicals a lot.

Generally westerns is about it. I'm sure some are decent but they're generally so slow for my attention span, and traditional too.
I guess going into subgenres, I can't watch torture porn stuff like Saw or Hostel. Overactive imagination and squeamishness doesn't mix well with that kind of thing. |

I feel like most of the classic Westerns have aged badly in comparison to other classics from the same era, due to their overly macho and often sexist natures. There's some brilliant modern westerns out there like True Grit, Django Unchained, Wind River etc.

Truly disturbing and I think has actually put me off true horror movies for life, they’re often just so uneccessarily violent that it’s horrible to watch through.
