So 'God Particle' coming next year is confirmed to be the third installment in the 'Cloverfield' franchise.

Loved the first two movies, so hopefully this is just as good! Excited to see it!

Really intrigued by the concept of this and 10 Cloverfield Lane is one of the most pleasant surprises of the year for me so excited that this is coming so soon!

I loved the first one and liked the second one (they could have done better job with the ending though...aliens...so overused).

Back in 2016, the quasi-Cloverfield sequel 10 Cloverfield Lane arrived out of nowhere to surprise everybody. Shortly afterwards came the revelation that a third Cloverfield was also already underway. Initially due in February of 2017, it then moved around the schedules before disappearing completely. But now it's back: the untitled mystery Cloverfield threequel will now arrive on screens on 20 April.

Details on the film are sketchy, as they usually are with anything J.J. Abrams has his name attached to, but we do know that it will be set on the International Space Station, detailing a group of astronauts who make a terrifying discovery that "changes everything".

Julius Onah is the director, and the film was originally announced as a sci-fi called God Particle. Chris O’Dowd, David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Elizabeth Debicki and Daniel Brühl are among the cast. As we said, we'll finally find out what they've been up to in April.
April! *.*

That casting is good too! Excited!

Not Daniel Bruhl in a big movie where he's not a Nazi *.* slay me Daddy.

This is heavily rumoured to be going straight to Netflix.

Eek, that's really worrying for the quality of the film if Paramount feel they can't release a sequel to a well received hit in cinemas and see no way of turning it around.

Posted by: Regina 25th January 2018, 02:52 PM

I think maybe they just want it out there for folk? It's been dotting around the release schedule for a bit hasn't it?

I think there are several factors, but Paramount will obviously be concerned the movie will make a loss for the studio. Isn't this premise quite similar to a couple of movies that bombed at the box office last year? And the fact that it is not actually a Cloverfield sequel directly.

I would check this out on Netflix, but not in the cinema. I suspect its kinda a win-win situation as the studio don't make a heavy loss and Netflix can increase their film portfolio without great cost attached.

It is *.* it's on uk Netflix and says available on 5th February!!

This is such an original and shocking way of releasing a film, I can't think of any films that have just dropped that are as high profile as this!

Also runtime is 1h 42m, I'm gonna watch this tomorrow *.*

Posted by: Josh! 5th February 2018, 12:30 AM

I've not seen the first Cloverfield film so I don't massively get it ahah :')))

Posted by: Jonjo 5th February 2018, 12:33 AM

OH MY. That looked tense!

Excited to watch this tomorrow!

The cynic in me says - dropped straight to VOD during the notorious 'dump months' with little or no fanfare (bar one post Superbowl advert) slot and a name change to make sure everyone knows it's part of the franchise. I hope I'm wrong but it all smacks of a turkey

Nail on the head..

I just watched it and as much as it was very entertaining I thought it was too complicated for me to understand it laugh.gif

Lots of things didn't make sense and probably I need to re-watch it again.

Posted by: BridgeCow 5th February 2018, 07:35 AM

WTF THEY ACTUALLY JUST DROPPED THIS IM HAVING A FREAK OUT RN I CANT EVEN WATCH IT TILL TONIGHT FFS

Posted by: Severin 5th February 2018, 02:29 PM

Having now watched it I can see why they dropped this on Netflix. It's not terrible but the best thing I can say about it, is that it starts off quite well. After the first 20 minutes or so you can predict everything that comes next and it's a real shame as the first 2 films are great favourites of mine. This I will never watch again.

Can someone spoiler why Cloverfield came/ how he got here/ why ge attacked? I won't be watching this.

Omg at Beyoncè trendsetting the movie industry now. QoL

It’s really bad.

By the way it’s not the main movie that is coming out in Autumn, that’s called Overlord and is out in October. I think this was more of a throwaway spin off.

Take my advice, you're better of not knowing, and preserving the mystery around the original, but if you must in an attempt to create unlimited energy through particle collision (think Large Hadron Collider) an orbiting space station opens up rips in the fabric of space time and another universe bleeds into ours

Yep it really is that lame

Posted by: Nick Jonas 5th February 2018, 06:29 PM

Watching now. It’s s***.

Posted by: ionderella 5th February 2018, 10:12 PM

i kinda liked it. wasn't anything i would re-watch again anytime soon but there was some good fun~ although it WAS pretty cliché. there was a traitor, pretty much everyone died, people sacrificed themselves to save others, i could go on. they could've played with the whole dimension collision more too

great to see Zhang Ziyi tho~

only having watched 10 cloverfield lane before i am getting into the whole franchise and will definitely be checking out the first installment now

Posted by: UltraReputation 8th February 2018, 12:50 AM

I know I'm in the minority but I actually thought this was great! ohmy.gif

It reminded me a lot of Life and I definitely preferred this to the first cloverfield.

Oh ://///

I'm gonna ignore that and just go with space alien/ creature of the deep as seas are so unexplored, etc, rather than that South Park Cthulu storyline copy laugh.gif

Strange how something from another dimension can infect people on another with different DNA structure, etc, that the virus will never have encountered before...
