Teenage Life and Gina G <3

Pleased Take That are set for another hit, every time they hit the top 40 with something I always think it might be their last hit...I can't remember how well These Days did on streaming though, I guess that was less than two years ago.

afternoon all, here's my retro faves:

2015

1- CHEERLEADER- Omi (76,572)
5- WHERE ARE Ü NOW- Skrillex & Diplo Present Jack Ü Ft Justin Bieber (46,447)
6- RUNAWAY (U & I)- Galantis (44,298)
7- LEAN ON- Major Lazer & DJ Snake Featuring MØ (42,698)
9- HOLD MY HAND- Jess Glynne (32,302)

2011

1- GIVE ME EVERYTHING- Pitbull Ft Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer (95,848)
3- I NEED A DOLLAR- Aloe Blacc (51,839)
4- PARTY ROCK ANTHEM- LMFAO Ft Goonrock & Lauren Bennett (44,703)
5- MR SAXOBEAT- Alexandra Stan (40,767)
7- SWEAT- Snoop Dogg Vs David Guetta (34,312)
8- NOTORIOUS- Saturdays (30,273) this is one of my favourites of theirs ph34r.gif
9- JUDAS- Lady Gaga (29,895)
10- SAVE THE WORLD- Swedish House Mafia (29,100) by far the weakest of their singles yet still a good tune

Pitbull was a proper jam back in the day along with LMFAO, Alexandra Stan and Snoop Dogg music.gif

2006

1- CRAZY- Gnarles Barkley (37,682)
3- FROM PARIS TO BERLIN- Infernal (21,600)
9- S.O.S- Rihanna (13,200)*

not much in this week's chart oops. I guess the Sandi Thom/Primal Scream/The Feeling songs were tolerable but not much to my liking. Also, it didn't help that the Sandi Thom song was EVERYWHERE (being in Australia at the time where the song spent ten weeks at #1, I'm sure it was overexposed in the UK too judging by its chart run).

2001

1- DO YOU REALLY LIKE IT?- DJ Pied Piper & Master Of Ceremonies (148,594)

DJ Pied Piper really came and saved this chart. Iconic anthem right here *_*

1996

2- OOH AAH JUST A LITTLE BIT- Gina G (66,000)
7- THERE’S NOTHING I WON’T DO- JX (30,000)*
8- FASTLOVE- George Michael (30,000)*
10- RETURN OF THE MACK- Mark Morrison (27,000)*

Biography
Though he grew up singing in the church choir and studying classical music, by age 13 French DJ Martin Solveig had his first pair of turntables and was showing off his skills to his friends. At 18, while working in a local record store, he further discovered the complexity of electronic music, and shortly thereafter was spinning at some of the most prestigious clubs in Paris. In 2001, Solveig worked with Bob Sinclar on Africanism, contributing his track "Edony" to the album. The single went on to be a hit, and after graduating from college, the DJ decided to release a full-length record. Sur la Terre -- which came out in 2002 on his own label, Mixture, and was made using both live and electronic instrumentation -- was also inspired by African rhythms, leading to a remix of Malian singer Salif Keita's song "Malan." In 2004 Solveig decided to move toward American funk and rock, releasing "Rocking Music," sung by Jay Sebag, followed by another full-length, Hedonist, in 2005. A third album, C'est la Vie, was issued in 2008, but it was only with his fourth effort, 2011's aptly titled Smash, that he finally broke through into the mainstream, attracting the interest of Madonna. The singer chose him to work on her album MDNA, and the pair developed a mutual respect and a close working relationship in the studio. Post-MDNA, Solveig continued collaborating, releasing the 2013 single "Hey Now," with the Cataracs and "Blow" featuring Laidback Luke in 2014. In 2015, Solveig returned with yet another single, the house music infused "+1," with vocals by Sam White. - iTunes

Biography
Essex, England-born Anne-Marie Nicholson was no stranger to performing by the time her debut EP dropped in 2015, having shared the stage as a 12-year-old with none other than Jessie J in a West End production of Whistle Down the Wind. She also auditioned for Les Miserables without telling her parents, and was offered a part. It was a risk that paid off, as it served to open her parents' eyes to her singing ability. Aside from West End commitments, the intervening years between her days as a child star and the advent of her career as a pop singer were spent becoming a world karate champion no fewer than three times, an art form she credited with teaching her discipline and focus, two essential traits of becoming a successful musician. After a chance meeting with an aspiring singer/songwriter, she managed to secure some studio time in Elton John's Rocket Studios, and, after hearing what she could do, she was subsequently picked up by Elton's management company Rocket Music. Anne-Marie released a demo in 2013 entitled Summer Girl, which drew some attention to the singer, most notably garnering a fan in Ed Sheeran. Despite the encouraging start to her solo career, things were put on hold to give her more time to develop as an artist. Having guested on tracks by dubstep super group Magnetic Man, London-based garage duo Gorgon City, and progressive house trio Raized by Wolves, Anne-Marie caught the attention of Brit and MOBO award winners Rudimental. She was featured alongside Dizzee Rascal and Will Heard on two tracks from their second album, 2015's We the Generation, and spent two years touring with the band, playing some of the world's biggest stages and best-known festivals. The summer of that year also saw the release of Anne-Marie's debut EP on Rudimental's then-new record label Major Tom's. The aptly titled Karate EP featured three tracks and a Chloe Martini remix, and producers Josh Record and Two Inch Punch worked with her on the record. Both the lead single "Karate," a slick fusion of electro-grime and R&B, and the follow-up "Gemini," garnered some very positive reviews and led Anne-Marie to gigging as a solo artist. In early 2016, the new single "Do It Right" appeared, amid confirmation of a debut full-length album to be released in the summer of that year. - iTunes

hi.gif all! Listening to the chart live for the first time in absolutely AGES. ohmy.gif Seems like months and months since I've posted in this thread.

Anyway, the major highlights from those retros are: 'Bad Blood', 'Runaway (U & I)', 'Sweat', 'Notorious', 'Judas', 'S.O.S', 'Don't Stop Movin', 'All Rise', 'Three Lions' and 'Return Of The Mack' heart.gif

I've always loved 'Three Lions' despite it being a football song, though I prefer the '98 version.

Biography
Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London. After they formed under the name Pectoralz, Guy Berryman joined the group as a bassist and they changed their name to Starfish. Will Champion joined as a drummer, backing vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, completing the line-up. Manager Phil Harvey is often considered an unofficial fifth member. The band renamed themselves "Coldplay" in 1998, before recording and releasing three EPs; Safety in 1998, Brothers & Sisters as a single in 1999 and The Blue Room in the same year. The latter was their first release on a major label, after signing to Parlophone.

They achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single "Yellow" in 2000, followed by their debut album released in the same year, Parachutes, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band's second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), was released to critical acclaim and won multiple awards, including NME's Album of the Year. They have also come top of the BBC Radio 2 poll of the favourite album of all time. Their next release, X&Y, the best-selling album worldwide in 2005, was met with mostly positive reviews upon its release, though some critics felt that it was inferior to its predecessor. The band's fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), was produced by Brian Eno and released again to largely positive reviews, earning several Grammy nominations and wins at the 51st Grammy Awards. On 24 October 2011, they released their fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto, which received mixed to positive reviews, topped the charts in over 34 countries, and was the UK's best-selling rock album of 2011.

The band have won a number of music awards throughout their career, including eight Brit Awards—winning Best British Group three times—five MTV Video Music Awards and seven Grammy Awards from 25 nominations. Coldplay have sold more than 80 million records worldwide. In December 2009, Rolling Stone readers voted the group the fourth-best artist of the 2000s. Coldplay have been an active supporter of various social and political causes, such as Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign and Amnesty International. The group have also performed at various charity projects such as Band Aid 20, Live 8, Sound Relief, Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, The Secret Policeman's Ball, Sport Relief and the UK's Teenage Cancer Trust.

Biography
Alecia Beth "Pink" Moore (born September 8, 1979) (stylized as P!nk) is an American singer, songwriter, dancer and actress. Originally a member of the girl group Choice, Pink rose to fame as an R&B artist with her debut solo album, Can't Take Me Home (2000). The album was certified double platinum in the United States and spawned two Billboard Hot 100 top-ten hits, "There You Go" and "Most Girls". She gained further recognition with the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack "Lady Marmalade", which gave Pink her first Grammy Award as well as her first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Pink took more artistic control and pursued pop rock direction for her second album, Missundaztood (2001). It sold more than 17 million copies worldwide and yielded three U.S. top-ten singles, "Get the Party Started", "Don't Let Me Get Me", and "Just Like a Pill".

Pink's third studio album, Try This (2003), generated considerably lower sales, but earned her the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Pink revived her popularity with her fourth and fifth studio albums, I'm Not Dead (2006) and Funhouse (2008), with the latter containing her second U.S. number-one hit, "So What". Pink concluded the first decade of her career with the compilation album Greatest Hits... So Far!! (2010), which featured "F**kin' Perfect" and the chart-topping single "Raise Your Glass". Her sixth studio album, The Truth About Love (2012), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned the top-ten singles "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", "Try", and "Just Give Me a Reason", with the latter becoming her fourth U.S. number-one single. In 2014, Pink recorded a collaborative album, Rose Ave., with Canadian musician Dallas Green under a folk music duo named You+Me.

Noted for having "a strong signature voice and a literally acrobatic ability on stage", Pink has received mostly positive reception from music critics. She has sold over 190 million records worldwide. She has sold over 28 million albums in the United States. Her career accolades include three Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, and six MTV Video Music Awards. In 2009, Billboard recognized Pink as the Pop Songs Artist of the Decade. Pink was also the second most-played female solo artist in the United Kingdom during the 2000s decade, behind Madonna. VH1 ranked her number 100 on their list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music, while Billboard awarded her the Woman of the Year in 2013. At the 63rd annual BMI Pop Awards, she received the BMI President's Award for "her outstanding achievement in songwriting and global impact on pop culture and the entertainment industry."

Biography
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (/biːˈjɒnseɪ/ bee-YON-say) (born September 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child, and rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of R&B girl-group Destiny's Child. Managed by her father, Mathew Knowles, the group became one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. Their hiatus saw the release of Beyoncé's debut album, Dangerously in Love (2003), which established her as a solo artist worldwide, earned five Grammy Awards and featured the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy".

Following the disbandment of Destiny's Child in June 2005, she released her second solo album, B'Day (2006), which contained hits "Déjà Vu", "Irreplaceable", and "Beautiful Liar". Beyoncé also ventured into acting, with a Golden Globe-nominated performance in Dreamgirls (2006), and starring roles in The Pink Panther (2006) and Obsessed (2009). Her marriage to rapper Jay Z and portrayal of Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) influenced her third album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), which saw the birth of her alter-ego Sasha Fierce and earned a record-setting six Grammy Awards in 2010, including Song of the Year for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Beyoncé took a hiatus from music in 2010 and took over management of her career; her fourth album 4 (2011) was subsequently mellower in tone, exploring 1970s funk, 1980s pop, and 1990s soul. Her critically acclaimed fifth studio album, Beyoncé (2013), was distinguished from previous releases by its experimental production and exploration of darker themes. Her sixth album, Lemonade (2016), was released in conjunction with a short film of the same name.

A self-described "modern-day feminist", Beyoncé creates songs that are often characterized by themes of love, relationships, and monogamy, as well as female sexuality and empowerment. On stage, her dynamic, highly choreographed performances have led to critics hailing her as one of the best entertainers in contemporary popular music. Throughout a career spanning 19 years, she has sold over 118 million records as a solo artist, and a further 60 million with Destiny's Child, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She has won 20 Grammy Awards and is the most nominated woman in the award's history. The Recording Industry Association of America recognized her as the Top Certified Artist in America during the 2000s decade. In 2009, Billboard named her the Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade, the Top Female Artist of the 2000s and their Artist of the Millennium in 2011. Time listed her among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013 and 2014. Forbes magazine also listed her as the most powerful female musician of 2015.

When will BBC realize that makes much more sense playing new entries in the lower half than playing the whole top 25 with the same old same old.

Biography
Nicholas Jerry "Nick" Jonas (born September 16, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter and actor, best known as one of the Jonas Brothers, a pop rock band he formed with his brothers Kevin and Joe. The Jonas Brothers originally started as an attempted solo singing career for Nick Jonas, but the record producer liked the sound when his brothers sang backup for him. Nick starred in the Disney Channel original movies Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, as well as the TV series Jonas L.A., alongside his brothers. He formed the band Nick Jonas & The Administration, which released its first album in 2010.

Jonas currently stars in the DirectTV drama series Kingdom which premiered on the Audience Network in the fall of 2014. He released his self-titled studio album the same year, preceded by the single "Jealous". In the fall of 2015, Jonas was also cast in a recurring role on the first season of the Fox horror comedy anthology series Scream Queens.
