Thought I'd create a thread for this promising goth meets post-rock artist after my Nuggets entry 'Consistent Dedication' finished 5th and seems to be receiving further love in personal charts!

A new song titled 'Retributions Of An Awful Life' is out now and I think I like it even more *.*

An accompanying EP called A Comforting Notion is out on 24th March 2023 - very excited based on these two songs!

The new single is really good, very much looking forward to the EP in March!

There's a great interview with Jojo here: https://thequietus.com/articles/32146-heart...-orme-interview

Loving the INterpol and PJ Harvey influences. : )

I wasn't 100% with the Consistent Dedication (the screaming took me out of it a bit x), though I appreciated it's uniqueness. This new one popped up on my New Music Mix though and I'm liking it much more, the slow building intensity of the instrumental and spoken word vocals fit really well.

Thanks for that Doctor B! I love her already, especially after shouting out Pornography by The Cure as an all-time favourite album.

I'm not usually into screaming (laugh.gif) so I was surprised by how much I liked 'Consistent Dedication'. But yeah, the new one is definitely more palatable if that was off-putting, glad you like! wub.gif

As much as I love Retributions... I still think it's the weakest of the three singles so far but that is still a high bar. Thankfully the accompanying tour will be taking in Brighton so I will get the chance to see them live again as they were among my highlights from last years shows

Three? Did they have another song that got taken down / never released? I only see these two songs from them on YouTube and Spotify!

Really liking both of these songs anyway, I think 'Consistent Dedication' is the slightly better of the two for me but definitely another promising act to keep an eye on in this lane.

Just had a quick search and it looks like the What Can I Do video was taken down. There was a video up as recently as last spring but I can's see it now

Still up on bandcamp to listen to

'Retributions of an Awful Life' has been added to the 6Music playlist! It has swiftly become one of my favourite songs of the year so far.

^Great to see it on the 6Music playlist!

There's a live performance of 3 of the tracks from the EP from the Dutch station 3voor12:

00:00 24 Hours
04:28 Consistent Dedication
07:32 Retributions Of An Awful Life

Now out! Very promising EP indeed and some decent reviews coming out already.

“24 Hours” in full studio HQ is pretty glorious. “Retributions Of An Awful Life” remains the massive standout but whole thing goes hard.

Yeah it's been on pretty heavy rotation for me since Weds. One of the best releases of the year so far, for me.

Also, as a live performer she has come on so well in the last twelve months or so. Her show at Great Escape last year was a highlight of the festival but her show the other night is an early contender for gig of the year 2023. (Chucking in a Sisters of mercy cover was a brilliant move too).

If you get the chance go before she stops playing tiny venues

^ thanks for putting the 'Dominion' cover on YouTube (judging by the username on there!) - I love that song in its original form and her take is also sounding pretty great

Really enjoying the EP as well *.* 'Retributions of an Awful Life' is still #1 in my personal chart at the moment laugh.gif but the whole thing is fantastic, she's a breath of fresh air right now

Yeah that was me. It's a great version, faithful but her own thing.

The unreleased tracks are really good too. Jacked is possibly my favourite but you can only hear it live

Loved the first two singles from this, and 24 Hours is good enough too. I had bought What Can I do on bandcamp too which I've enjoyed a lot.

Very annoying she was announced as Black Honey support after it had sold out. A gig on Saturday evening when I had day plans and was going away for a fortnight the day after I didn't bother, I'd like to see them but they're not a must - if they were here any other night this week I would have done, but if they'd have announced supports before then I'd have got one for tomorrow!
