I never "stanned" for her and was never interested in her life or gossip, but she's definitely my favourite recording artist ever. Her albums are gems, all of them, so YES PLEASE.
"Life for rent" is my favourite album ever, and "Safe trip home" isn't far behind. |

I have always enjoyed Dido, but i cant see her having a hit again and i fear her album will struggle to sell 50,000.

Wonder what direction she'll go this time. Hoping for some Ellie Goulding-esque dark dance tunes, even if it's only a few among other genres.
Ideally it won't be another pure acoustic folky album that's nothing like her first two. |

I absolutely loved 'End Of Night' from her last era. That's about the only thing I've taken notice of from her since Life For Rent though.

The Day Before the Day from album 3 is her best song ever imho,
I believe it's about her father's death. Maybe it's just me projecting a similar situation from my life, but I think she is telling how she didn't get to say goodbye or even see her dad on the day he died. that last verse that goes "I didn't get to say goodbye the day before the day Was trying to get to work on time that's why I turned away And missed the most important thing you ever tried to say I've lived my life without regret until today" |

My friend once said that "I used to like her, sadly Dido lost it." So I put in the quotes section on Facebook "Dido lost it"- to quote Emma. Sadly she got angry about this and kept coming into my room and hitting me until I deleted it (I lived with her). It was replaced by "There was never a quote here".
Sadly I can't think of Dido and not laugh/cry about the above. |

Ah I do like a bit of Dido. Not a huge fan but she has a nice voice and there are some nice tracks on her albums. She really left it far too long between the second and third album, huge mistake really.

but I think Dido didn't care, she didn't wanna be a super star so it was a concious decision to go low-key from album 3 on...
Dido always gets a lot of hate in forums but it's totally undeserved One thing that I like is that most of her best songs are co-writes with Rick Nowels, who ended up being Lana del Rey's cowriter too |

Bumping because this article has arisen
BMG has signed Dido ahead of the release of her fifth studio album in early 2019. The British artist’s previous long-standing record deal was with Sony Music. Over the course of a 20-year career, Dido has sold more than 30 million albums, the first of which were two of the biggest-sellers of all time. The new album will be released worldwide by BMG. Dido co-wrote and co-produced it with her brother and fellow BMG artist Rollo Armstrong of Faithless. BMG UK President Repertoire & Marketing Alistair Norbury said: “We are thrilled to partner with Dido for her new album. “She is the quintessential BMG artist; an international icon who is returning after five years with an outstanding record. “Dido has the rare ability to combine an art sensibility and a distinctive viewpoint on contemporary issues with infectious melodies which touch millions. “Her new album will be one of the music highlights of 2019.” Dido said: “I couldn’t be happier to sign to BMG, their enthusiasm and passion for the record was evident from day one.” Dido recorded her first demos in 1995, before making tracks with Rollo and Faithless. Her debut album Life For Rent (1999) has sold more than 22m copies worldwide, reaching No.1 in eight countries, including the UK and France, and No.2 on the US Billboard 200. It featured the single, ‘Thank You’, which was sampled in the worldwide No.1 hit ‘Stan’ by Eminem. Dido’s second album, Life For Rent, was released in 2003 sold over 12m copies globally. It spawned the worldwide hit and Ivor Novello award-winning single ‘White Flag’. Her following albums Safe Trip Home (2008) and Girl Who Got Away (2014) featured collaborations with Brian Eno, A.R. Rahman and Kendrick Lamar. 2019 tho |
