How I compile my charts:
With a few exceptions, I don't go out of my way to seek out new songs - I usually wait until I hear them on the radio. I mainly listen to Radio 1 and for this reason, most (though not all) songs in my chart are those which are played on Radio 1. I don't usually add a song to my chart until it's started gaining some airplay. Songs generally tend to climb gradually as they grow on me, peak and then fall fast, so the chart looks similar to an 80s/90s singles chart. I also usually get bored of a song within a few weeks, so songs don't generally tend to hang around the chart for more than a few weeks - typically around 9 or 10 weeks for a Number 1. This week's chart commentary: * So a week after returning to the top, Years & Years' 'King' is well and truly toppled, with 'Firestone' by Kygo feat. Conrad registering a 16 place climb to the summit, after scoring last week's highest new entry; it's the first time the debut chart hit for an act has gone to #1 since Krishane last October. * It's proving to be a very successful era for Olly Murs, with 'Seasons' climbing to #4 to score him his 10th Top 5 single on this chart. * It looks like Ella Henderson's 'Mirror Man' won't quite be able to manage a Top 10 placing like her previous three singles but 4 Top 12 hits out of 4 is not a bad start to her career!  1 (17) Kygo feat. I'm definitely loving it, loving it, loving it. It makes me wanna buy a convertible again  4 - Yeah I'm surprised his boost wasn't as big as it could have been, especially considering it's also 59p. 13 - Well 12's not a bad position to peak at, and like you say it's not *quite* as good as her previous singles. 24 - Yeah I just don't like a stale chart so even though I still love Elastic Heart I'm not listening to it as much, I like to keep my chart fresh! 40 - Don't worry it might not even get a 2nd week Top 40, I was just struggling to find new songs to chart Cheers Rob

Great jump for Kygo! 'Firestone' has really clicked with me now; nice to hear this summery and relaxed sort of dance sound again, plus Conrad's voice is stunning. The Rudimental version of Ed Sheeran's 'Bloodstream' has grown on me and I'd be happy enough if this made it to #1. It's quite calm for a drum and bass track! |

Your Top 2 is fantastic! FIRESTONE took so long to grow on me but now that it has I'm defo loving it! Seasons is really fantastic! Im living for Olly these days  Hold My Hand stalling though What even is that  Champagne Kisses is so lush! It's definitely her best sp far! I wasn't saying that a few weeks ago haha. Oops! Paloma last night was brilliant thanks, her voice is even more incredible live than on record, which I don't think is true for most artists. Fantastic concert! If you're fan I'd recommend you catch her live next time she's anywhere close to you. 1 - Yeah, it's hard to know how it will go, but I'm fairly confident it will be Top 10 eventually. 2 - It's great but it's kinda peaked with me now. 3 - Oh yes, I'm shocked at how good this is, especially since I didn't think much of any of the Jonas Brothers music! This is brilliant though. 39 - Yeah I just don't get all the love for it at all, doesn't sound like a Top 10 hit to these ears. I'm glad you agree! Thank you for commenting

I think Zombie is much stronger than Rabbit Hole. 35 - Yep, really getting into this 37 - It does work well, but it's quite a loud, angry song isn't it?
