I'm not convinced on the instant gray theory if I'm honest. I know that's what properly crippled Madonna's 'Give Me Your Loving' in a similar time though, not that it would have done much anyway but it was probably robbed of a top 15 peak which would have looked better on paper...

'Flower' was released on a Tuesday (two days less than other releases) and got to #49 on iTunes; it fell to #65 on Wednesday, #81 on Thursday and out the Top 100 on Friday. I don't know how many downloads it achieved and it's hard to think back and say whether it would have been enough for the official Top 100. On album release week, 'Flower' charted at #96 on the strength of downloads, despite not appearing in the Top 100 on iTunes.

Oh yes, I’m not saying it’d have been a mega hit but all those initial downloads were discounted. If I recall correctly the rule at the time did not allow any digital downloads to count towards the song chart if the single was also available as an instant grat on an upcoming album. The OCC didn’t allow individual track downloads to count until the album was released. That rule changed soon after Flower’s release. Am I right in thinking the CD and Vinyl also wasn’t counted as they were released late September so we’re caught up in the instant grat rule? |

Apparently the physical was released in November but it didn't enter the physical chart which seems odd.
Anyway, I would have thought the OCC would count the physicals of a song towards the chart even if its downloads were ineligible due to the instant grat rule. |

Yes odd the CD and vinyl didn’t create a peak....think they were very limited and not just UK exclusive.

If the sales were counted Flower would have achieved a Top 75 placement.

The flower release was really screwed up and very half hearted.

Say Something and Magic always poll close together in all the polls on the forum.

Ya they do but I think people rate them both really well and both are very popular songs with fans.

Both are superb Kylie singles and deserving of the warmth they have received from fans.

Please can we make sure when bumping threads that haven't been replied to in a while that we're being conscious of what we're contributing? I'm not sure if bumping a thread just to make short observation of the poll particularly adds anything to the discussion. It comes across a bit spammy, especially when it's across several threads. Thanks.

I went for Real Groove. As much as I love Say Something, I think RG would have led the album better and introduced the disco theme much more effectively. 100% Real Groove is definitly the highlight of the album, along with Miss a thing... Say something as a lead single is comparable to 2 Hearts, one of the weaker songs and doesnt represent the album well... |

I wholeheartedly disagree with Say Something being comparable to 2 Hearts.
X had much stronger songs to offer as singles, Say Something is the strongest song on Disco. |

If X had as strong a lead single as Say Something it's overall success would be on a much higher level.

For me say something is an excellent lead single and i think it was the right lead single, 2 hearts was always the wrong lead single for me from X.
