I'm happy to see H&H spend quite a few weeks at the summit. What an absolute tune.

Rockstar on ACR next week please.

Still don't mind Savage Love but it's getting to don't mind if skipped stage (which is obviously a long way away in chart show terms).

For R1's sake it's just as well there's a dance song at #1 today to keep their 'vibe' going, not You'll Never Walk Alone or something

Next week's contender?

Billie Eilish
my future

2nd single from second studio album
Released: 31st July 2020
Label: Darkroon / Interscope Records

Video

Biography

When singer-songwriter Billie Eilish feels something new, the first thing she does is take out her phone and write it down. “You can write anything,” she told Apple Music in an interview for the Up Next series. “You can say the truth, and you can not tell anyone that it’s the truth—you can just write it, and it’ll be yours.” Raised and homeschooled in Los Angeles by actor/musician parents, Eilish (born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell in 2001) started writing songs when she was around 11, exploring a strain of melancholy, minimal and slightly surrealistic pop influenced as much by Lana Del Rey as the radical honesty of rappers like Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. Writing and recording with her brother—and producer—Finneas O’Connell at their parents’ house, Eilish released dont smile at me in 2017, followed by an ever-evolving series of singles—a prime example of the fact that, in the streaming era, artists are now free to move directly from their bedrooms into the spotlight. Despite the attention, Eilish is doing her best to stake out a space of freedom and fluidity, expanding her range of collaborators (Vince Staples, Khalid) and dodging easy definition. “If people think I have a sound, if people are like, ‘Oh yeah, her sound is this,’ if someone asks you what my sound is and you have an answer for them—you’re wrong,” she told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. “Instead of trying to find a sound, when I want to make something and when I have an idea of what I want to make, I’m just going to make that.” - iTunes

Future hit?

Ava Max
Who's Laughing Now

5th single from Heaven & Hell
Released: 30th July 2020
Label: Atlantic Records

Video

Biography

Channeling the imaginations and aesthetics of forebears like Sia and Lady Gaga, Albanian-American pop singer/songwriter Ava Max delivers empowering, dance-friendly anthems similar to contemporaries such as Bebe Rexha, Sigrid, and Dua Lipa. Emerging in the late 2010s, she appeared on collaborations with Le Youth, Witt Lowry, and David Guetta while also releasing her own singles, including her breakthrough smash hit "Sweet but Psycho," which topped the charts in almost two dozen countries.

Born Amanda Ava Koci in Wisconsin, she was raised by Albanian immigrant parents in Virginia. She started singing at a young age and was already active in singing competitions by the time she reached high school. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue music full time, she joined local disco revival producer Le Youth on his bright dance track "Clap Your Hands," which became a summer hit in 2017. The next year, she showcased her Sia-esque vocals with debut solo single "My Way" (Atlantic) before following with "Slippin" and "Not Your Barbie Girl," which interpolated Aqua's '90s classic. That year, she also joined rapper Witt Lowry on his track "Into Your Arms" and David Guetta on "Let It Be Me" from his album 7. Ava Max issued her biggest hit to date that summer as breakthrough single "Sweet but Psycho" -- an addictive pop gem produced by Cirkut (the Weeknd, Katy Perry, Rihanna) -- began charting across Europe. As the song built momentum across the globe, she signed with Full Stop Management, home to Charli XCX, Harry Styles, HAIM, and others.

By summer 2019, "Sweet but Psycho" had topped the charts on over a dozen charts in Europe, as well as in New Zealand and on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. The sleeper hit was soon certified platinum in Australia, the U.S., and the U.K. Max followed with modest hit "So Am I," which got the K-pop remix treatment with guests NCT 127. Gearing up for her official full-length, she released additional singles "Blood, Sweat & Tears," "Freaking Me Out," and "Slow Dance" with AJ Mitchell.

That moment when I was tuning in live for the first time in months and it was a total waste of time as they only played the (overwhelmingly mediocre) dance songs xx

Ooops at 'cardigan' missing the top 5 in the end though I'm also very happy to see Headie One finally getting a top 5 (and with one of his best songs) so swings and roundabouts. Cool that Taylor did keep all 3 of her top 10 hits (and Bon Iver getting that chart smash *.*) though I do wish something other than 'the 1' had taken the third spot, that's one of my least favourite songs on her album - at least the two highest songs are both fantastic and among my absolute favourites.

agree but it's kinda common that album track #1 charts by default
amazing to see Bon Iver getting a first top 10 and with what's easily the best top 40 hit of the year
