Is this actually confirmed? Cos this is about the 6th/7th time it’s been pushed on radio or I’ve seen a source like this without much else than it’s been serviced and nothing happens after that aha. Afaik last I heard was that this wasn’t a single/was cancelled and radio have been playing it on its own accord

It's available to listen and to download on AllAccess. Also, it's close to reach the Top 50 at Pop radio in the US, so it seems that Republic is fully going with it.

ahh okay. ngl I'm still not convinced this is being pushed properly as a single, it feels more like the option is there to play it & its being encouraged but its not being properly pushed as a single yet.

I do think if circumstances were normal, this would've been a single rn with a video & the promotion co-inciding with Lover Fest. (there are rumours that single plans changed due to the situation in the swifties fanbase)

I feel they'll only go ahead with this properly as a single if it really takes off on radio naturally. I can't see this doing anything if its pushed as a single, bar maybe a good boost if there's somehow an amazing video. Unless we get a single remix? Ik Post Malone & Cardi B have been rumoured but I doubt either will turn out to be true. This rly should've been a single last summer but I cba to get into this again ahaha :/

I wasn't expecting it to hit any charts this week but it got 0 new adds, isn't really doing anything on radio and isn't being pushed too hard so I really don't think this is an official single. I feel this is gonna be Getaway Car part 2 of speculation for a couple of months before everything fizzles out

also the leader in Taylor's inner circle insider group (who dropped hints about folklore & cardigan the other week) said this yesterday:
'I stand by my original statement and trust the information I was given. If it turns out to be wrong and Cruel Summer has been officially sent to radio as a single then obviously the original plans changed.'

I wonder what the original plans were?? I'd live if we get new music now that it seems confirmed that his original hints about expecting something exciting soon we're about music & not a life event.

I think the title Cruel Summer is the problem. There could be a lot of radio DJs who'd put a connection with Covid 19 before or after they played the song, even though the actual lyrics have no connection with Covid 19 at all. So if Taylor's record company gave up Cruel Summer because of that I wonder if they got another single in mind or if Lover era is already over.

Unlike the rest of the world this isn't even a fave on the album but it makes total sense to release it. Although If The Man flopped, this won't do any better. I miss long album campaigns

I think Olivia shouldn’t be a threat (unless bad idea right has a good 4 u trajectory) and I think she should overtake Morgan this week. Luke Combs seems to be the biggest threat (he’s released live versions + discounts etc this week, but they don’t seem to be having a major impact). Or at absolute worst, that new right-wing song that’s #1 on iTunes and doing well on streaming too.

I also wonder if this could repeak at #3 here this week?! It’s 5 in the mids, I think CS will overtake bad idea right and it’s also ahead of vampire on Apple Music & just 2k streams behind it on spotify.

Anyway looks like the hot 100 is a no go this week as the maga guy chart points are huge now 😭😭 hopefully it gets disqualified but I doubt it. It’s also up to #3 on US Spotify today ew. 🤮

It's only 5 points away from #1 on billboard atm this week too, I don't understand why the label don't seem to care! They're usually all over it with the remixes/digital singles etc (sometimes take it too far even, IMO, the amount of Anti Hero remixes was unnecessary lol) all they need to do is release a digital single on her US store and it would be an easy #1 with the amount of fans that would buy it, I don't understand

Early days but after one day of streams/sales Cruel Summer is on track to hit #1 in Australia next week.

With the first day of sales/streams it's already doing 113,601 than the #2 song on Spotify and it's also #1 on Apple Music.

I know it's only one day, but with her tour on here I feel like it's got a great chance of hitting #1.

Honestly I adore this song. I do feel partly like it should go to ACR just cos the top 10 is a bit stale, but with greedy and prada going this week i don’t mind cruel summer staying I’m just so obssszed with it’s longevity! So so genuinely impressive and so deserved for such a great song
