Yayy great news, Bat For Lashes (Natasha Khan) will be releasing her fifth album on September 6th, titled Lost Girls. The first song out from it, called 'Kids in the Dark', is beautiful and sort of soothing. It reminds me of that BJSC entry, 'Into Deep' by Jennie Abrahamson. The cover art reminds me of something M.I.A. might do |

Out in exactly two weeks! This is so gonna be her 80s cinematic album and I'm here for it. She "has cited 1980s music and cinema as an inspiration for the record, citing artists such as Bananarama, Cindy Lauper, The Blue Nile and film composer John Williams in an interview."
It's also going to be a pretty short album (which I actually like lately), at about 38 minutes. Track listing is also out lolz 1. Kids in the Dark 2. The Hunger 3. Feel For You 4. Desert Man 5. Jasmine 6. Vampires 7. So Good 8. Safe Tonight 9. Peach Sky 10. Mountains |

Out today! Enjoyed it. There's an instrumental on it omg, it's so good too. Really liked 'Desert Man' and 'Safe Tonight' on first listen as well.

Forgot this was out - I'll be taking a listen... You better! :3 It definitely has kind of a catchy 80s feel, it's a bit different for her but also feels like a natural progression if that makes sense. It's like a synthpop album. So many artists I like have released / will release this year, I can barely keep up lmao |

Listening now! I liked the couple I heard before it was out so am expecting to enjoy it... I think I may have it on pre-order somewhere too but can't for the life of me remember where!

Adore this, it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Think it might be my favourite of hers already Looove the whole 80s feel to it. Mountains is such a gorgeous closer, and Vampires gives me almost The Cure vibes |

My favourite surprise on it was 'Vampires' cos it's an instrumental - I was expecting the vocals to kick in soon and was hoping they wouldn't haha, and they never did! I love her distinctive voice but I'm strangely pleased that she has an instrumental on an album now.

It's a nice listen, very coherent. On first impressions it's an album that successfully sets a certain mood rather than has any particular stand outs but maybe that's because I've had it on in the background and they will come through on repeated listens instead.

I enjoyed it when I listened this morning. Been loving Kids in the Dark since it came out and think Jasmine is excellent too.

Liking the sound of the album, I'll have to check this out later because I've been really enjoying the two singles “Kids In The Dark” and especially “The Hunger” which 6Music have been playing a lot recently.
It's odd to think that Fur and Gold was 13 years ago now, I remember when I first saw the video to “Prescilla” and was hooked immediately. |

For me, she was one of those artists I discovered right around the beginning - which I think is rare for me! I mean I know her debut single was 'The Wizard' and I'm pretty sure my first discovery was 'What's a Girl To Do?' but close enough I remember listening to ~illegal~ mp3s of that album a lot as a teenager.
All the other teenagers in that village were probably listening to Slipknot (although funnily enough I have 6 scrobbles of Slipknot from 2007!). |

I think all her albums are great but the debut is definitely the one I go back to least. I'd probably rank them as Two Suns > The Haunted Man > The Bride > Fur and Gold
Bat for Lashes top 10? 1 Daniel 2 Laura 3 Lilies 4 Pearl's Dream 5 Kids in the Dark 6 Horse & I 7 Two Planets 8 Horses of the Sun 9 Joe's Dream 10 Glass This post has been edited by RabbitFurCoat: Sep 7 2019, 08:27 AM |

I struggled with this but may give it one more chance. I love the eighties but nothing off this has really had much impact on me. Love Daniel, All Your Gold, Pearl's Dream and especially Laura (a 10/10 song) though.
