There are many that could compete for that prize...
Firstly, there's all of those novelty songs like the Teletubbies' song, 'Can We Fix It?' and also the XF winners' singles like 'That's My Goal' and 'When We Collide'. Then there are just truly dreadful songs that make me doubt the mentality of the GBP - especially in recent years. Seriously, what is up with the buyers of 'The Club Is Alive', 'Don't Wanna Go Home', 'Crazy Frog', 'Never Leave You' etc? There's also all of the 90s cheesy crap. As much as the Spice Girls were loved and immensely popular, '2 Become 1' and 'Spice Up Your Life' weren't the best #1s - they weren't the worst though, I guess. But groups such as Steps, S Club 7 (as much as I loved them when I was younger) and Take That were just a bit This post has been edited by SceneofSIXCrimes: 23rd July 2011, 01:43 PM |

I don't think I remember every #1 I've heard. But the worst I guess is probably 'I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker'. I don't think I remember another song that kills my brain cells as much as that song. I know there had been #1s I'm not fond of, but I must admit they have not been horrible, just "not good". LOL

I personally question any public that would permit Scouting For Girls and Olly Murs to have a #1.

And I wouldn't say Never Leave You particularly stands out as a prime offender alongside the likes of Crazy Frog... |

I could say, out of the ones I know, Sean Kingston's Beautiful Girls, or Pixie Lott's Mama Do. Both really annoying.
I'm sure there's worse though, but I wouldn't give it to novelty ones, as I rather like some of them. |

I'm sure there's worse though, but I wouldn't give it to novelty ones, as I rather like some of them. Probably second on my list. Awful noise. And his only other top 10 hit is even worse. But when he actually released a GENUINELY GOOD song (Fire Burning) it only made #12. This post has been edited by Bré: 23rd July 2011, 01:50 PM |

I could list 100 of these quite easily but the one UK #1 I will never ever understand how it even got close to topping the charts is Peter Andre - I Feel You.
Seriously, just (yes, this is imo worse than the examples given above - including Crazy Frog). |

I think a list of my least fav recent #1's would be only too predictable, as they'd all share a common feature... Therefore I'll look at 1980's ones instead... Joe Dolce - Shaddup You Face Goombay Dance Band - 7 Tears Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You Nick Berry - Every Loser Wins Firm - Star Trekkin' |
