The Steam Awards, probably one of the biggest awards in gaming, were announced a few days ago. These are not restricted to 2017 and can be from any year, so there's a good chance that you'll have heard of one or more of the games on these lists, particularly as it was publicly voted for. I voted in a few days but didn't get round to participating in them all.
The winners (full graphics here): Choices Matter - award for the game with the best decision-making that impacts the plot Winner: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Nominated: Dishonored 2, Life Is Strange: Before The Storm, The Walking Dead: New Frontier, Divinity: Original Sin II Mom’s Spaghetti - award for intense games Winner: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Nominated: Outlast 2, Alien: Isolation, The Evil Within 2, Resident Evil: Biohazard Labor Of Love - award for games that the developers keep working on Winner: Warframe Nominated: Crusader Kings 2, Path Of Exile, Titan Quest, Team Fortress 2 Suspension of Disbelief - award for most ridiculous game concept Winner: Rocket League Nominated: Goat Simulator, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Saints Row IV The World Is Grim Enough Let's Just All Get Along - award for best non-action game Winner: Stardew Valley Nominated: Abzu, To The Moon, Cities: Skylines, Slime Rancher No Apologies - award for game you love no matter what others think Winner: The Witcher 1 Nominated: HuniePop, Mount & Blade: Warband, Gothic II, RUST Defies Description - self-explanatory Winner: Garry's Mod Nominated: Doki Doki Literature Club, Antichamber, Pony Island, The Stanley Parable Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War - award for most chaotic explosion/chaos-heavy game Winner: Just Cause 3 Nominated: Broforce, Total War: Warhammer, Middle Earth: Shadow Of War, Red Faction Guerilla Haunts My Dreams - award for game that consumes your thinking time away from the game Winner: Counterstrike: Global Offensive Nominated: DOTA 2, Civilization VI, Factorio, Dark Souls III Soul Of Vitruvius - best graphical game Winner: Rise Of The Tomb Raider Nominated: I Am Bread, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Bayonetta, NiER: Automata Whoooaaaaaaa, Dude! 2.0 - most trippy game Winner: The Evil Within 2 Nominated: Luna, Antichamber, CPU Invaders, Hotline Miami: Wrong Number Best Soundtrack Winner: Cuphead Nominated: Undertale, Transistor, Crypt Of The Necrodancer, NiER: Automata Even Better Than I Expected - game that is even better than you expected Winner: Cuphead Nominated: Hollow Knight, Call Of Duty: WWII, Sonic Mania, Assassin's Creed: Origins Discuss, do you think any of these awards are deserved or not deserved, is it a popularity contest (it definitely is), are there any big mistakes in the nominations (there definitely are), isn't it amazing that DDLC got a nomination *.* - and more importantly so did Crusader Kings 2, although there's a conspicuous lack of EUIV. |
