 Increasingly now in schools children are "reading" on tablets and using e-books as opposed to hard paper copies. Which side are you on? Tablets obviously have a much greater range of texts and can provide unlimited reading opportunities for children (particularly children who might not enjoy reading and be put off by it). However if children become overreliant on technology, could there be an eventual total decline and removal of paper books altogether? Do children need to experience the sensation of reading a book as opposed to scanning a tablet for the same information. And of course, which media form do you prefer? Hard copies of books or ebooks on tablets and other gadgets? DISCUSS~ |

I've chosen books for each. The harrowing observation my old uni tutor saw when a Reception child was SWIPING a page of a book hoping it would change and move the story on
 THEY NEED PAPER BOOKS!!!1 don't let them die </3

Tablets should be pushed at schools cos everything is going digital.
As for myself I don't have nor have ever owned a tablet so I'm still very much old-fashioned in that aspect. |

BOOKS. Seriously there is nothing better than reading a real book. And they aren't going to die out any time soon so need to be in schools.

Books, we use enough screens as it is and our eyes need a break from them!
Plus don't let the paper book die off as you say Haus! |

Books have lasted CENTURIES, they won't die out any time soon. A digital shift was inevitable but they'll always be an audience for paper books.
I've voted books for both - not everything needs to be done on a screen and children need to know that. |

I actually find it so much easier to read paper books these days, I always get distracted on tablets, and books can never go offline. Of course I'm reading OTHER things on tablets but they aren't books.
A school does need to get children acclimated to both really, as using technology is vital in our everyday lives and yet they should also be able to appreciate how easy it is to get information from books. |

Books both for me I like the feel of reading a book rather than staring at a screen to read one. It's more engaging and a bit more personal reading a book to a tablet.

I read on my kindle quite a lot, I wouldn't even count it as a tablet as it has a certain way of lighting the screen so it's not as harsh on your eyes and it's fine to read with the light off still or anything like that. It's also way cheaper and you can essentially carry round infinite books easily. It's very good for if I'm travelling, and also when I'm living at uni so I don't have to move god knows how many books with me, I just read them on kindle. It just depends really, I use both my kindle and buy physical books and there isn't really a rhyme or reason
 Textbooks I always prefer physical although I just normally find the pdf and print because they can be so expensive  For schools, I think both - not necessarily tablets for reading though. Books will never be obsolete, but things are getting digitalised more and more so the do need to be aware of that, although certainly not at the expense of actual books. |
