Note: The compilations I choose to enter in my personal album chart are there to represent that I listened to & enjoyed a particular artist's singles in any given week. I'm not only listening to the selection of songs that are included on the above album's track lists though (for instance 'The Best of Kylie Minogue' is a 21 track album, and obviously her singles discography is far larger than that selection). In my chart, 'The Best of Kylie Minogue' actually represents all of her singles discography. The same applies to other artists, unless of course their album actually does include all of their hits anyway.

Kylie's compilation managed 5 weeks at #1 in my personal albums chart, back in March/April! Her triumphant return with the 'Golden' studio album prompted me to listen repeatedly to her old hits, some of which I even found a new appreciation for (notably 'Breathe'). The album re-entered thanks to the 'Golden' tour in September, which I went to see in Nottingham! *.*

Dannii Minogue's 'Neon Nights' managed three weeks in my personal album chart Top 5 due to the release of the vinyl edition! That format made me rediscover how much I loved this album back in 2003. It's up there with her sister Kylie's best albums!

One of the rules of my EOY Top 200 Singles chart is that only songs that charted within the last 2 years are eligible, i.e. 2017 & 2018. Any songs from prior to that are moved to my Retro chart! A notable reason for this is to avoid the Christmas classics being inside my EOY chart each year. kink.gif

Predictably it is Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' that leads the way in my Retro chart, managing a 2018 high of #2 in my personal chart and 208 points. Since its first appearance in my chart way back in 2005 it has amassed 2,188 points (certified 2xDiamond!). I could ever tire of this festive classic. wub.gif

The highest placed non-Christmas song is 'Work Bitch' by Britney Spears! Its appearance on my chart this year was thanks to seeing her in concert back in August 2018. *.* Gimme More, Make Me... and Womanizer also make my Retro Top 20.

Entries from Rita Ora & Kylie Minogue are also thanks to the "tour effect", but this doesn't explain 'Dancing on My Own' re-entering my chart - that was thanks to Robyn's comeback with 'Missing U', the first song from her long awaited album 'Honey'.

Copy/Paste List:

02. Leona Lewis - One More Sleep

It's rather late to be starting my EOY 2018 Songs count down, but here we go! laugh.gif

190 & 196. A couple of Nick Jonas songs sneak in my EOY Top 200: Anywhere (with Mustard) & Right Now (with Robin Schulz). Both are decent, but they're far from being highlights of his career. Nick's most successful year in my chart was in 2015, when his #1 hit Jealous ended 4th in my EOY! I do wonder whether Nick will have the opportunity to release another album, given that it's been three years since he last achieved a big hit (with Close). It seems he may be focusing more on his film career; he has three films currently in post-production.

186 & 191. Notably two #1 hits from 2017 by Steps feature in this first section. Neon Blue & Scared of the Dark re-entered my personal chart in June 2018 after I saw them live at their Summer of Steps tour in Llanelli, South Wales! Both huge pop songs that I absolutely adore, imo they sit comfortably amongst their 90s/00s classics.

177 & 178. Back to You by Selena Gomez under-performed in my personal chart, only peaking at #22! It's a nice enough song but I find it pretty nondescript... she's capable of better! A song I do consider as being much better, Wolves, ends up 1 place higher in my EOY despite being a 2017 hit.

176 & 198. James Arthur started his career with a Top 5 hit (Impossible, #5 in December 2012, his X Factor winners single), and it took him 6 years to score another Top 20! Funnily enough this was with another X Factor winners single - The Power of Love by Dalton Harries, on which James is his duet partner. It managed to peak at #20. This wasn't James' only hit of the year - Empty Space stayed in my Top 40 for an impressive 7 weeks (despite only peaking at #26).

Copy/Paste List:

176. James Arthur - Empty Space
177. Selena Gomez & Marshmello - Wolves
178. Selena Gomez - Back To You
179. Rita Ora - Your Song
180. MNEK - Tongue
181. Drake featuring Michael Jackson - Don't Matter To Me
182. Lauv - Superhero
183. Dinah Jane featuring Ty Dolla $ign & Marc E. Bassy - Bottled Up

My biggest highlights so far are 'Tongue' and 'Be The One' wub.gif it's such a shame that MNEK's latest era went pretty pear shaped (those album sales </3) but I'll always be grateful that we got 'Tongue' out of it, what a tune <3 and it was such a moment to see 'Be The One' finally taking off in the chart after not doing much when it was originally released! If only my favourite song of hers, 'Last Dance', also got a re-release. 'Be The One' is a huge Dua highlight anyway, one of her 10/10s heart.gif

I really like Tongue, that drop/his mini-rap in the chorus is just absolutely amazing, a real earworm! Right Now was another song that caught my attention, I'm not a massive Nick Jonas fan but I did like this one!

Hi Jade! It is a pity about MNEK, missing the Top 100 was tragic D: I really liked Tongue (and Colour), both deserved to at least do something... sigh!

Be the One completely passed me by during its original release #fakefan (!) but I'm so glad she re-released it because it really deserved a moment of success! Completely agree about Last Dance, could have been huge after IDGAF (if i remember rightly you don't like IDGAF, so I guess you'd have preferred Last Dance re-release instead of that kink.gif )

Thanks for replying heart.gif!

Hi Liam! Agreed, it's a shame it was slept on... at the very least it deserved to chart!
