What these top 10 breakthrough lists show is that as a band they were on the up in terms of global breakthrough in songs and albums and truly did quit at the top and their highest point.

It also shows that the nations that first truly embraced them with chart success from the early Take That & Party album were Belgium, Ireland and Israel outside of the UK.

The whole of Europe excluding France they broke with the Everything Changes album and singles as well as Africa, Australia, the Middle East and they were reported in print as 'chart stars all across Asia in 1994' though charts are elusive for the 90's on that continent. Everything Changes album was big in India and South Korea. Definite big hits however in Asia were Pray, Everything Changes, Love Ain't Here Anymore, Back For Good, Never Forget and How Deep Is Your Love haven't come across which others for the 90's.

By the time Nobody Else and Back For Good came around in 1995 they were truly global with big chart success now including North and South America. Both continents had not been fully committed to by the band or approached until Back For Good huge success gave reason for promotion and presence on the continents. America and Canada were visited in early 1993 promoting It Only Takes a Minute in these countries. USA the single sank without a trace however in Canada it had a #20 peak though would be over two years until another Canadian hit #1 Back For Good. Pray was released in early 1996 and was modest hit (#55) there. How Deep Is Your Love was a huge hit in South America and in North America in other countries excluding USA & Canada (#80 peak in mid 1996).

The bands top 5 most successful countries (information where available) during the 1990's and excluding the UK were:

1.Ireland
2.Belgium (Flanders)
3.Finland
4.Latvia
5.Denmark

The bands top 5 most successful countries (information where available) since returning in 2005 and excluding the UK are:

1.Ireland
2.Taiwan
3.Denmark
4.Italy
5.Switzerland

Very happy to see Ireland on top.

Yes Ireland were the first non British nation to give TT international success followed by Belgium and Israel. Later as explained above TT popularity (i.e top 10 national chart status) caught fire with the Everything Changes cycle for other European nations and further afield.

Ireland also comes out top for #1's overall (singles & albums) for nations outside the UK (information where present and only multiple chart toppers listed):

Singles #1

1=Ireland/Latvia/Spain: 4
2=Israel: 3
3=Denmark/Germany: 2

Albums #1

1.Ireland: 5
2.Germany: 3
3=Austria/Denmark/Italy/Netherlands: 2

If only those 6 #2 singles had gone to #1 in Ireland also they would have been in double digits!

Wow, thanks for compiling all of this! It looks like they are more international than people give them credit for then! I'm shocked at their success in Taiwan but that's great for them!
